5-0 out of 5 stars Great Braun Electric Kettle
We were recently in England and saw friends using an electric tea kettle that was different than any we had ever seen in the U.S. I had to have one. When we got home I found this lovely Braun electric kettle and purchased it immediately. It does all we expected. It has a large capacity so you don't have to refill it constantly. It boils very, very quickly and shuts off so I don't have to watch it. I love being able to take it to the sink to fill it without dragging the cord. It's very easy to clean because it detaches from the base. I like the large handle grip and the water window on both sides. We use it for everything instant including soup. How did we get along without it?

5-0 out of 5 stars Clean Design, Very Functional
I got this after destroying a ... Alessi kettly by accidentally letting it boil dry until the plastic parts melted...

I was about to spring for one of the Zojirushi megabuck dispensers, when I spotted this unit. I have always liked Braun (more consistently good than Krups or Cuisinart) for their design and ergonomics. This pot doesn't fail to impress. This baby is FAST; It boils water at 1 minute per 8-oz cup (or faster, if you start with hot tap water). For a single cup of tea, this is about as fast as you can select a teabag and prepare the cup! BTW, this actually holds 7 cups, not 6 as described.

The design is very nice and clean-looking. The base is especially well-designed, since you can put the pot on rotated in whatever way is convenient. This is apparently a big win over the Krups kettle. The "mineral filter seems like overkill, but it does prevent splashing of the boiling water, and causes pouring to be very smooth. Cleanup is brain-dead simple (pour out the excess water after use, and flip the top open to allow evaporation). Pot itself does not get too hot to touch, and the handle stays completely cool. Automatic-off features work under all sensible scenarios: when it reaches full boil, when the top is opened for any reason, when lifted off the base, or when the pot is empty.

As for the Zojirushi dispensers? They may be useful if you want a lot of water (up to 5 liters for the big ones) held at a controlled temperature. But for most home uses, this need is rare, and otherwise deosn't justify the ... price tag.

For me, the Braun is one of those are kitchen appliances that took a while to see the need for, but now I couldn't live without. A real time and hassle saver!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply a better kettle
Not only does this improve upon the standard stove-based kettle, but it improves upon the previous generation of fixed-cord electric kettles.

The separation of kettle and corded base allows the former to be taken to the sink (or refrigerator if you're boiling pitcher-filtered water) without bother. It makes pouring at the table or in another room easy, as well. The cord can be wound inside the base so that only the needed length is exposed - neatening your countertop. The base has a "360-degree rotational connection," which means that you don't have to align the kettle in any particular way when replacing it. No buttons to press, no connector to snap.

The handle and kettle shell stay cool, obviating the need for a hot pad when picking it up, and the single control is as simple as can be: press it to start and it turns itself off when the water boils. If you forget about it, you needn't worry about boiling away all the water and leaving yourself with a burnt pot. (It will also turn off automatically if the pot is empty, the lid is opened, or the pot is removed from the base!)

The anti-calcification filter reduces scaling and thus the need to run a vinegar solution to clean out the buildup (something most people never do with their stove-based kettles). The design allows you to easily see the entire inside of the kettle, so you can keep an eye on things.

For those who regular drink tea or other beverages made with stove-boiled water, an electric kettle is a real convenience. This Braun kettle is about as convenient as they come.

1-0 out of 5 stars short and not so sweet!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just About Perfect
We got this as a summer substitute for the Zojirushi hot pot that keeps boiling water always available, because our airconditioner didn't appreciate the constant heat (although we continue to love the Zojirushi "in season"). The Braun is perfect. A full pot of 7 cups boils in 5 minutes and then shuts off. It's light, not ugly, and has a red light indicator on 2 sides. Best of all, the platter is perfectly designed, so that you don't have to orient the pot one way or another when you sit it down. The whole thing pretty much stays out of your way; even the cord length is adjustable. Perhaps the only thing missing is a bell or ring-tone that tells you when it's done. Small detail. ... This high-speed kettle employs 1,500 watts of electric power tobring 1 cup of cold water to a rolling boil in one minute. With thekettle filled to its 7-cup capacity, a full boil is achieved in fiveminutes. That makes the kettle ideal for instant coffee, tea, hotchocolate, or instant soups. Inside the spout there's a removable and washable antiscalefilter that extends the kettle's life. With an exterior of hard, gleaming plastic, the kettle wipes clean easily. 5-0 out of 5 stars Tea with a twist
Oh my, I have wanted one of these for ages. Europeans have been using them for decades, but couldn't seem to find a modern, user-friendly electric kettle. This is the best; it boils as quickly as the ad suggests. Jug plugs into the base, so you can remove it from base once water is boiled. It switches off automatically (a big plus for those of us who forget that water is boiling on the stove ... mea culpa), and voila, your hot, hot water is ready for your favorite tea. I've started to drink more tea since I purchased it 6 weeks ago. This isn't another kitchen gadget, it is an absolute necessity for the kitchen; it is a life-changing purchase. Yes, okay, I like it. But you can see why, can't you?

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Solid Product
I shopped online for a while to get an electric tea kettle. We were tired of having the old kettle take up one burner of the stove all the time.

We are very pleased with the kettle. Unlike some of the others, it is set up so that you don't have to worry about how you place it on its base. You just fill it, put it down on the base and press a very ergonomic trigger button on the handle. The kettle turns itself off when the water is boiling. All in all, pretty idiot proof. The water boils very quickly--it's much quicker than heating water on the stove.

The only question we have is how the heating element will hold up. The metal element inside the kettle is starting to get some mineral deposits on it, and it's unclear how this will affect the kettle. (Probably all electric kettles have this issue.) Meanwhile we are quite enjoying it.

I also purchased the 4 cup version for my office and that has worked out quite well also. I don't have to make my tea with the water that comes through our crummy old office coffee machine anymore!

5-0 out of 5 stars Love this Kettle!!
I make coffee or tea every day, and this kettle gets some hard use at my house. I love it, the handle stays cool when the water is boiling and it doesn't release that much steam out of the spout. It pours extremely well, it has never dripped. I even use it for cooking as it boils water faster than in a conventional pot on the stove. I highly recommend this kettle!

5-0 out of 5 stars This thing is great.
Finally, a product that does what it's supposed to and does it well! Simple to use, works great, looks nice and only cost $20. Great!

I would not recommend the T-Fal kettle. It just stopped working after less than a year. It was only being used a couple of times a day, and treated with care. Waste of money. ... Read more

The Breville gourmet wok updates the electric wok design in every detail. For starters, its 1500-watt butterfly element is recessed around the base to create a heat zone over the entire surface--excellent conditions for quick searing and stir-frying. The variable heat probe includes 14 settings plus "high sear" for precise control, and the 14-inch-diameter die-cast wok bowl is roomy enough to handle whatever’s ready in the garden. Designed for simpler clean-up, scratch-resistance, and reduced-fat cooking, the wok’s surface is a four-ply Quantanium coating, combining titanium-reinforced mid-coats with a durable nonstick exterior. The glass lid is satisfyingly heavy with a stainless-steel rim and a convenient steam vent. The most striking difference between this and your old electric wok is the quick-release base that lets you put everything but the temperature probe and power cord in the dishwasher. Breville also includes a temperature indicator light, a booklet of recipes and tips, and a plastic spatula. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This is our first wok we've owned. Boy was I glad we picked this one. The food that comes out of this thing is yummy! It's very easy to use and clean-up is a snap. this wok also feels like it's made from quality parts (i.e. it's heavy gague steel, lack of cheap parts, etc.).

5-0 out of 5 stars Hottest Wok I've Ever Used
This Wok has some serious heat. As a professional chef with Asian style recipes on the menu I've used many a stove top wok. Until now I'd never found an electric wok that could generate enough heat to sear in the flavors of meats and vegetables. Not only does the Breville Electric Wok deliver as much heat as a top of the range stove top wok, its surface is non-stick so I can use less oil for healthier results. Every thing about the wok is clever, from the detachable base, to the dishwasher safe parts, to the cook and look glass lid. Whoever designed this is in to wok cooking in a big way. Very clever, very stylish, very hot. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth the price!
After a year of buying and discarding no less than five can openers of different makes, it is a relief to find one that finally works. Thank you Cuisinart! The extra money was worth it.

This can opener grips the cans without slipping. The sawtooth wheel upon which the can rides has larger teeth and a more substantial blade to pierce the can than the other can openers we purchased. After using this can opener is easily disassembled for cleaning. Reassembly is a breeze.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Opener
I was looking for a can opener that would open tall cans and after trying a cheap one which was pure junk; I purchased the Cuisinart which works flawlessly. For those comments about it being hard to start a can; try reading the instructions; it's like every can opener sold. Lift the handle and put the can under the cutting blade at a slight angle just so the blade is on the inside of the lip of the can; then press down. You don't even have to hold on to the can. Is that simple enough for you. This is a great can opener; cost a few bucks but well worth it. I highly recommend the Cuisinart.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Throw A Can At It And It Works
Perhaps, like me, you have long been a member of the can-opener-of-the-month club. You have purchased ones that seem to have been made of biodegradable materials, so quick is their deterioration. Or fitting the can in its proper place is a task for a mechanical engineer. Or take my last one; it was impossible to clean, and simply hated to be bothered with opening a can.

Take heart. The higher price for this built-like-a-tank can opener is well worth it. Simply throw a can in the general direction of the Cuisinart and it does its job (I can't understand the complaints of others in this regard; this is by far the easiest to operate electric opener that I have ever owned). The opening mechanism pulls right out for cleaning without requiring some secret code to attain its release. Its above average weight makes it stand firm on the counter, defying any can to try and tip it over. If this opener falls apart I will simply have to go back to mechanical openers. Mine has been working without complaint for several months now. That's a near record time in my house.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer!!!
This is an EXCELLENT can opener. Beats any of the others. I've been totally satisfied with it, found it very easy to use and easy to clean. I bought it here at Amazon and would recommend highly it to anyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy-anything is better
This can opener looks nice, is a higher priced opener, and is Cuisinart so you expect something worthwhile. It was the worst can opener Ihave ever tried to use. Doesn't line up, top falls off. Much like the other reviewer said-we gave up and used our manual opener. So we returned it. Now I am trying the Krups, which also looks nice, so far so good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Better than a tea kettle!
I just received this for Christmas, it's something I've wanted for a while. Ever since my tea kettle died of old age, I've been boiling water for tea with a regular sauce pan and what usually happens is I forget all about it and only remember after it has been boiling for a while. Also, I didn't like the long wait for hot water. I want instant gratification! And now I have it with this Zojirushi dispensing pot. It's perfect since I'm an avid tea drinker, consuming several pots of tea each day.

A long long time ago, I used to have the "air pot" style dispensing pot where you just press on the top and it pumps out water. This one is a much newer design and dispensing is handled electronically. What I like is the "safety" feature which was lacking in the old "air pot" styles. You have to press the "unlock" button before the "dispensing" button which prevents accidentally dispensing hot water. You can set this to keep water at 205°F, 195°F, or 175°F. You can also set it to give you hot water in 7 hours, but this is a feature I really don't need to use. I'm using the 195°F which seems to be a good middle ground for making black (requires hotter water) and green (requires lower temp water) teas. This is also handy for making instant noodles, oatmeal, hot chocolate. Also handy when needing hot water for a dish I'm cooking, or making chicken/beef broth for a dish I'm cooking. This is very convenient ... no more waiting for hot water! (This beats getting a replacement tea kettle because with a tea kettle I still have to wait for it to boil/whistle, and it usually whistles shortly after I've sat down and gotten comfortable.) This pot will automatically reboil when it feels the temp has dropped too much. The water level gauge is easy to read, the lid lifts up easily for refilling (also removes easily to make pouring water out and cleaning a cinch). Another nice little detail is a removable power cord. It makes me feel a bit "safer" being able to remove this before cleaning out the pot in the sink.

I am confident that this will last me a long time. My in-laws also have a Zojirushi water dispensing pot and it has never failed on them. And I know people who have other Zojirushi products and have had no problems with them. So I feel comfortable with this brand, and I may look into getting one of their rice cookers.

Oh, I have to mention one more nicety of this dispensing pot. The base will swivel around (think lazy suzan style), making it easy to rotate it without scratching your kitchen counter top.

The only thing I need to be careful about is where to put the dispensing pot since there is a steam vent on the top. I don't put it directly beneath any kitchn cabinets, just in case the steam might damage the cabinet over time. ... Read more

This is the best small appliance I have purchased in a long time! I sold my George Forman grill in a yard sale, this griddle is so much fun to cook on and super easy to clean! The grease just pours off into the drip tray and makes delicious food. I made six large New York strip steaks on this, done to perfection! I fried an entire pound of crispy bacon and the fat just melted away...and best of all, it goes into the sink and gets really clean. I would'nt trade this for anything, I absolutely love the ease of cooking and the quick cleanup, it is well made and very much worth the money. Have fun in the kitchen this!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Flip & Enjoy!
I was very pleased with the performance of this griddle. The surface is nice and slick, and there's plenty of room to maneuver and flip. And since I'm not tied to the cooktop, I can set it up on any convenient counter in the kitchen.

Ignore the temperature suggestions on the driptray, though. 375 degrees is way too hot for pancakes (which is what I use it the most for) - 350 is perfect for most things.

I really do recommend this griddle highly!

4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous (thought the drip tray could be a bit more durable)
Have owned this for the past three months and love it--it does exactly what it's meant to do, very well, it's easy to clean, and has yet to lose its no-stick finish. The only problem is the drip tray--one of the prongs that holds it in place broke within a day or two of purchase and it falls out as it's being transported. It's still working, though, so it hasn't affected our use of this [inexpensive], useful appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars jumbo griddle
I purchased my griddle in time for the holidays and was
very pleased with the x-large surface cooking area and how well
it keeps an even heat througth out the surface. Although I was
a bit skeptical about the teflon coating I have been very impreased with its performance. The large drip tray is also very easy to clean. So if your like me and love pancakes, frenchtoast,
bacon and eggs or just some great hashbrowns, or maybe just
some good toasted cheese sandwiches! I know you'll be very happy with your purchase! ... Read more

The Krups Open Master can opener answers the prayers of those cooks who are sick of struggling with manual can openers. This can opener has a patented bladeless design that uncrimps can lids, rather than cutting them out, so it doesn't leave sharp edges to cut fingers. Also, because the opener doesn't cut into the lid of the can, the opener's blades won't get gummed up and contaminated with old food that has stuck to the cutting edge. The large handle is easy to grip, and the on-off button has raised bumps so that your thumb won't slip. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great experience with this opener
I received this can opener as a gift almost 9 years ago. Absolutely loved it from the first use - no sharp edges to worry about and rarely needs to be cleaned. Also, no flakes of metal and can label left on the counter. Now, over 8,000 cans of cat food later (and few human food cans), its starting to need 2 turns around the lid to unseal properly. I was afraid they didn't make it anymore but was happy to find it on Not sure why this technology hasn't totally replaced the traditional electric can opener.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ready to buy my third one.........won't buy anything else!
Love this can opener, after using others for years, felt like I found the only one for me! Am in the process of looking for the best price on my third one.........Just used the other two till they finally gave out after many years!!!No other one will do! Wish I could find a great deal on a dozen, know I could sell them to the neighbors!

1-0 out of 5 stars Like watching a roulette wheel
Loved this can opener when new. After 18 months, round and round it goes. Place your bets many revolutions will it take to open the can? Numerous revolutions leaves the can's edge ragged with the risk that metal shards might drop into the food. A very expensive lesson in poor design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good little machine!
We have had the Krups 404 for maybe 3 years now and it has been a wonderful addition to our kitchen. It is so much of an improvement over traditional can openers. The fact that no shavings get into the can that you are opening is a tremendous advantage. Also no sharp lids to cut your hand or fingers with. Since there are so many variations of cans to be opened we find an occasional one that needs a little encouragement (not at all unlike the previous top cutter one we had)and we use the hand opener once in awhile. Mostly because it probably needed more cleaning of the cutting wheels, which I finally undertook to do. It was full of metal shavings which were clogging up the mechanism and it can only get worse. I used a chemical agent to spray and remove them. It worked fabulously. Anything that is used to do this procedure is done at your own risk. Some of those things can be very hazardous such as pressure spray cleaners. The cost to replace the item may be a better option than useing chemicals. The unit is sealed for the most part and not user friendly to take apart. It would be nice to have a unitized cutter wheel assembly to remove and clean. Overall this little opener is a real plus for my wife and myself. She has used it a LOT!! She does NOT want to go back to the old top cutters.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money...
This piece of junk started making ominous noises after opening fewer than 50 cans. Before 100 cans were opened it gave out completely. I'm going back to my old, reliable B&D electric opener that hangs beneath the kitchen cabinets. ... Read more

For tea, instant coffee, or hot chocolate, this cordless, 1,500-watt electric kettle brings 1-1/3 quarts of water to a boil faster than a microwave. The kettle is made of stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. To provide 360-degree access, the kettle fits onto the power base in any position and swivels for easy liftoff. The heating element in the base never touches water, so there will be no mineral buildup on it. The roomy handle stays cool, the cord wraps on the base's underside, and rubber feet on the base resist slipping. For safety, the kettle shuts off automatically when water boils or if the kettle runs dry. 5-0 out of 5 stars quick reply to "Looks pretty but doesn't turn off quickly"
I found the reviews here very helpful and accurate, and now that I have this kettle wanted to pay back a bit. The comment that the kettle doesn't turn off quickly is right, as indicated in the review titled "Looks pretty but doesn't turn off quickly." BUT you may like this feature, depending on how you make tea. Part of the idea of the long boil is, I think, that you can just pick up teh kettle and pour your tea while the kettle is still boiling the water. This is what I find myself doing.

I like it because with my other electric kettle I find I often end up hitting the button after it boils to boil it again quickly right before I pour my tea.

Just an added thought.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice
Since I've never owned an electric teakettle before, I can't say that this is the definitive best. If you own one of those kettles that you put on the stove, this one beats it no contest. There is no more guessing if your water reached the boiling point, because it turns off when the water reaches 100 C (I can't remember the number in Farenheit); also, it takes drastically less time to reach the boiling point in the first place. For myself, I get to enjoy my tea that much faster and I have a ready to use source of hot water to add to meals that I'm cooking.
This kettle is one of those gadgets that have become indispensable. It is fairly expensive, but even though I've only used it since November 2003 (about two months now), it's worth every penny.
The only disadvantage I can see is if you're in the midst of a power outage. Obviously, you'll want to break out your non-electrified kettle that takes forever to heat up. Otherwise, keep that relic in storage, because you won't be needing it.

1-0 out of 5 stars There's a better choice
Take a look at the Melitta Express Kettle. It shuts off soon after it reaches the boiling point. Has a tip type of lid which latches to prevent burns but is easily opened. Costs $30 less than the Chef's Choice and is very attractive. I have had mine for about 6 months and it still looks perfect and operates wonderfully. Heats water very fast. Has a interior water level guide. Unfortunately, it doesn't show up near the top in most searches on Amazon or I am sure it would become a big seller. You can get it at Target, so you have instant gratification.

2-0 out of 5 stars Looks pretty but doesn't turn off quickly
This kettle looks pretty but doesn't turn off once it boils. This means it dumps steam into the room for at least two minutes, fogging windows and generally dampening things up quite a bit. Also, the round grip on the top is made out of plastic and feels shoddy, as does the turn on switch. I wish I had returned it but I am slow getting things into the mail and the 30 days passed before I knew it. Oh well, it does boil water!

5-0 out of 5 stars outstanding
An electric kettle seemingly wouldn't wear out, but that is exactly what happened to our previous one after only one year of use. This one has already beaten that. Additionally, it holds the water at a boil for a bit of time, rather than shutting off as soon as the boil is reached. This means that the water stays hotter in the kettle. ... Read more

All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. The sharpener measures 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

I recieved by Presto sharpener yesterday and it turned my knives back to like new again. Thank you Target and Presto, my Henkels are sharp again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Sharpening Device
I look at the gold box every day, and saw this sharpener on sale. I already own it...purchased it locally, not from Amazon, and it cost me more than the gold box price. It does an amazing job on sharpening knives. I have an older set of Chicago cutlery, and it sharpens them razor sharp whenever I use it.....which my wife says it not often enough!! I sharpened our knives the day before Thanksgiving, and the bird practically carved itself. It's also very easy to use, and has a foolproof design. I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Now you're cooking
This is a wonderfull purchase. I love to cook and sharp knives are essential. Originally I bought it with the intention of putting it with my husband's Christmas gift stash so he could use it for sharpening fishing knives. However, after getting a good look at my own kitchen knives, I cracked it open and started sharpening. It is easy to use, and does a great job. Incidentally, I have two sets of the Henkels knives and just bought a set of Calphalon. All are wonderful. The Henkles are going on ten years of solid use and even when dull did a respectable job. Now they are sharp and ready for more good things to come out of the kitchen. Definately worth checking out. Oh, I bought mine (sharpener) on clearance too, gotta hit those clearance end caps Target devotees! ... Read more

Stylish looking and highly mobile, this electric cordless kettle from Breville lets you serve hot beverages unfettered. The unit's disc-shaped base conceals a powerful 1500-watt element and features 360-degree swivel, so accommodation on the countertop is easy. The kettle holds 1.9 quarts, and the water level is easily visible through a translucent side window. The sleek curves and mirror finish of the stainless-steel body create an air that is both handsome and efficient. Breville looks after details, too--like the illuminated on/off switch, the safety locking hinge lid, and the tidy cord storage in the base. A safety feature cuts power automatically to prevent overheating or boiling dry, while a removable scale filter simplifies cleaning. 3-0 out of 5 stars A Big Disappointment
After looking around for the best looking electric kettle that boils water quickly as well as holds at least 2 liters of water (1.9) in the case of this kettle, I finally decided to get the Breville Nova cordfree. There are many positive reviews that I agree with their praise of the kettle's performance, however, I have not read a review that brings to the fact, that once the water boils, the outside surface of the kettle is DANGEROUSLY HOT. The fact that the pot is stainless steel with no insulation barrier is cause for concern, especially if you have small kids that run the chance of burning themselves badly if they happen to touch it. I would now consider a platic based kettle over a stainless steel one.

I boiled the first pot and that was it. I dried it up, packed it, and sent it right back to Amazon.
I rate this kettle 5-Stars for looks and functionality and 2-Stars for safety for an overall 3-Star rating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elegant
By far the best looking kettle on the market and it looks even better once you get it home. It also has the largest capacity of all kettles I've looked at and it boils superfast. The auto-off feature is great as I have kids in the house and you never know what's going to happen leaving the old tea kettle on the stove. Worth the price

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Piece of Australian Technology
I am very, very picky when it comes to house wares and kitchen appliances, and before deciding to take my chances on this Breville electric kettle, I had spent probably too much time researching different brands of electric kettles online (Braun, Krups, Cuisinart, Bodum, etc.). I was inclined to getting the Braun kettle that has received so many rave reviews on Amazon, but the few complaints about it petering out, and being made of plastic, made me continue my search for a kettle. If it's going to cost almost $50, I wanted a kettle that could boil more than 6 cups of water, last longer than 3 years, and be made of stainless steel. After typing in all sorts of descriptors on search engines, I finally came across the name Breville, and checked out the manufacturer's Web site. After seeing this Nova kettle's product specifications, & contrasting it to other makes & models featured on Amazon, I took my chances with this kettle, and have been completely obsessed with it ever since (& I am fully confidet it will continue to function well even after that "just-bought-it" glow fades away). It has more than I had wanted, all in one: concealed heating element, REMOVABLE water-scale filter, a window to see the water level (not that annoying floating ball), larger 1.9L capacity, auto-shut-off, 360 degree accessible base, great looks, & VERY FAST! Plus, I noticed that the water in the kettle continues to stay heated for quite a while after it has boiled and the kettle has shut itself off. The only thing some people may find unfortunate is the rather shorter-than-expected length of the electric cord. But for all the other pluses going for this product, I think it's a negligible quality. I had never heard of Breville before, but I hope they venture out into other high-quality kitchen products, with the same caliber of quality. So, the verdict is: 5-stars, and a Perfect-10 as a kitchen accessory. And, I am guilty of spending FAR too much time shopping for house/kitchen stuff! So, I wanted to write a review to save others from wasting the same amount of time I did. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent affordable kettle!
This is the most frequently used appliance in my kitchen. It boils water very quickly, with a cool touch outside, and a nice "ding" when the water has reached boiling, and it shuts off. It is useful when cooking, for adding hot water to recipes and for making both single and pots of tea. it also takes up less countertop space than other models. After over a year of daily use, it is still working just as perfectly as on day one, and I would recommend this product highly.

I have used two other electric kettles- the bodum (after a few months of use the lid broke, thin plastic) and a black and decker (nice chrome finish but the outside get HOT and there is no signal tone that the water is ready)

For the money and for the features, this is an excellent product, sturdy, functional and reliable.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE small kitchen appliance to have!
I bought this electric kettle for my college freshman son about 10 months ago, and it has performed flawlessly. Arriving at his dorm in only 3 days after ordering, this appliance was quickly accepted into the college lifestyle, having been voted by he and his 2 roommates as one of the "Top 3 Indispensable Items" in the room (following the TV and the refrigerator). This pot provides them with a quickly renewable (3 minutes ...max.) supply of boiling water for coffee, cocoa, soup, dried ramen noodles, macaroni and cheese, and anything else they have been able to come up with. Well engineered and assembled, it has proven to be incredibly sturdy and versatile, having weathered more than a few "mishaps" and never failing to perform. This kettle has it all...water level window, warning bell, "stay-cool" exterior, rotating base, automatic shut off, built in cord wrap, and an easily cleanable heating surface. My son says that this is the one thing that he is sure to be bringing back to his room next year. If you have a need for boiling water...FAST, and don't/can't have a traditional stove/tea kettle arrangement, or don't want to waste resources, this is THE kitchen item to own.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent kitchen item
We use this kettle multiple times daily, and have been nothing but pleased with it. Easy to clean and use. This is one of the most useful items in our kitchen.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Item!
I first purchased a kettle like this one while living overseas. I have been using electric/cordless kettles for 5+ years now and I can say that this is one small appliance I use everday...several times a day. It is portable, easy to use, and convenient. Whether it is for an office, dorm, or kitchen this is a great buy. The brand is reputable and mine has been going strong for 3 years now. The water viewer makes it easy for measuring and the stay cool exterior is great for little hands that may get too close. It takes up very little counter space which is a plus and once boiled, the water stays warm for quite sometime. I cant imagine my kitchen without it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
This kettle has lasted me two years already. It is perfect in every way a kettle needs to be. Most importantly it is quick, reliable, and ever so convenient. I recommend using filtered water in it because you will never have to clean any deposits if you do. Otherwise you will clean it almost every two to three weeks with everday usage. Enjoy and feel safe in buying a quality product. ... Read more
