5-0 out of 5 stars Best Slicer
I can only give this slicer 5 stars, if I had a choice I would give it 10 stars.
I got this as a Christmas gift. My first use was to test it at slicing the dinner turkey leftovers for lunch meat. It worked perfectly.
I have since used it to slice roast beef, sharp cheddar cheese, ham and vegetables.
The meat is cut as thin as you want, I prefer very thin, no problem.
This is a dream machine, it is built to last and easy to clean.
I have tried to find something negitive to say but I really cannot. If you need a slicer Buy it,
No I don;t work for chefchoice. I am really a satisified customer.

An inexpensive alternative to a professional stainless-steelmandoline, this device makes it possible to quickly, uniformly, andsafely slice and julienne vegetables and fruits. 5-0 out of 5 stars Best mandolin on the market, beats out higher priced items
It has been a great investment and has paid for itself. I use it more often than any other gadget in my kitchen. Clean up is simple, just rinse and store in back in it's holder. The blades are still super sharp after being used pretty much daily since 1999, and it's November of 2002 now. I use it when I make chili, sloppy joes or tacos to dice onions and peppers in seconds. I use it whenever I make hashbrowns, potato chowder, potatoes au gratin or french fries as I can safely and swiftly slice potatoes into cubes, jullianed strips, chips, scalloped slices or fries. It can julianne tender-crisp delicate slices of veggies for stir-fry or as a lovely french side dish. You can make quick easy carrot and celery sticks for snacking, cucumber slices for salads, tomato slices for burgers, you name it this does it. And it's very safe to use if you use your head. I love my Borner V-slicer and recommend it to everyone. I buy this for every wedding gift and housewarming party I've attended since 1999! Yes, there are less expensive mandolins and more expensive ones, but the ease of use, super quick clean up, handy storage/safety holder and just overall sturdyness and reliability of this little tool make me go over the top raving about it. I could not recommend it more enthusiastically. Wait--I can! This thing rocks! Buy it, try it, you will adore it! Hmmm...having read through the other reviews of this product I will add a conditional caveat to the above review. The blades are really very sharp. When dealing with any cutting tool, just as you would with a chainsaw or with a knife--use care, common sense and precaution. Always use the little safety food guide that comes with it, and make sure that you are holding the guide properly so that the arrows point the right way and the guide slides smoothly! With sensible care the Borner V-slicer is safer than a knife and very easy to use. It has drastically reduced my preparation time on many dishes and it has become as essential to my kitchen as my chef's knife and fry pan. But again, this is a high quality product with German-made blades that stay sharp longer than you will. It's super sharp and slicey. If you like your finger tips and don't like blood and gore--then use the safety guide and a little care and you'll be a-ok. The V-slicer has a safety catch at the base. To get it out of it's case you simply release the catch and gently remove the slicer. If you reach inside or try to yank or force it out without releasing the safety catch first--you'll injure yourself. The unfortunate woman whose hand was badly sliced while removing the slicer from it's case probably didn't take the time to release the catch before she tried to remove it from it's safety case. Having had a tendon reattachment of my own after a box-cutter hit a metal staple, I really feel for her, but it's not the Borner V-Slicer's fault she injured herself--Please use care! It's a very sharp edged tool, and the bladed edges for julienne and cubed foods are dangerous too. Read the instructions, use the safety guide, store it in it's safety case and avoid touching the blade edges. With a little normal caution you'll soon be confidently slicing veggies in seconds like a pro.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing piece of kitchen equipment!
Wonderful slicer! I'm so glad I bought one, and wish I had gotten one sooner! I love having fresh veggies, and it really makes it easy to cut them up! Highly recommended! And you can't beat the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars this damn thing works great !
You will notice several mandolines on the market, some are very cheap and some sell for over $50.00 This one offers the performance and design of the high-priced models but its affordable and it outperforms the inexpensive models made in china. The blades are surgical stainless steel and are very sharp!! Please read instructions and use this product with care!! This product is versatile and will give uniform results if used as directed.

5-0 out of 5 stars like any great instrument--it makes you look good!
my borner was passed to me after my fathers death. there were no
instructions except "be Careful" from mom. after figuring out the
process (w/o shedding blood or losing body parts) i found it was useful everyday and i can't imagine not having one. i did try a less
expensive one and it went back in the box to retire into the darkness of the garage. its poor blades were such risk and the store wouldn't take it back as used we can't even sell it at a yard sale it's so nasty. i highly recommend Borner and mine is going strong after 12+ years.

With a professional-style food slicer at home, there's a lot less knife work to be done. Large portions of unsliced meats and cheeses stay fresher; just slice them as needed. Slice multiple onions or tomatoes at a time. This small, sturdy unit makes short work of what could otherwise be drawn-out tasks. Gray and black, with a shining steel blade, it is unobtrusively handsome. It's heavy enough so that it stays firmly planted on the counter top, and rubber skid-resistant feet help keep it steady.

The Feeder area tilts toward the back, and a heavy-duty clear plastic food press keeps fingers out of the way. The fully adjustable blade can make paper-thin slices or open up to cut thick slabs. A stainless steel catch tray can be placed in back to hold slices, and out front, there's an extendable section to the feeder area for larger food items. And a great safety feature is the dual-button set-up; you have to be holding the unlock button to be pressing the on button. This can be done with one hand, but it means that you can't walk away and leave the blade spinning, dangerously unsupervised.

As with anything that has a blade, be very careful when using and cleaning the Rival Professional Slicer. Unplug before cleaning, and adjust the thickness knob to zero. Do not was the blade in the dishwasher; carefully wash with hot soapy water, and preferably rinse in a weak bleach solution to sanitize. Dry blade immediately and return it to its housing. Slicer measures 14 by 10-1/2 by 10 inches. Rival provides a limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship under normal use conditions. --Garland Withers ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great slicer, great price!
This slicer is the least expensive slicer that tilts back, giving a much better control over slicing. And has great adjustment for thickness-not quite a commerical deli slicer, but also not $500.00!! AND the site lists 2 customer service numbers, if one cares to look!

1-0 out of 5 stars you only get what you pay for!
I reviewed on-line information for 10 days before purchasing this unit. I was shopping for price and features. This unit had a great rating with its 130 watt motor, and the average retail was around $90. However, this unit was a huge disappointment. I only had the unit for two weeks, and during those two weeks I only used it 3 times. I sliced one 5-lb boneless, cooked ham. Then a few days later, I sliced up a 1-lb pepperoni stick. A few days later, I sliced another 5-lb boneless, cooked ham. The slicer worked fine, "like a dream," the first time I used it. It worked just "OK" the second time, but by the third time I used it, smoke was coming out of the motor, it was running at about 1/2 the normal speed, and it was making a lot of noise. There was no way to contact Rival by phone. The only contact option was email or snail mail. I emailed them but got no response after seven days, so I returned the unit. This unit just doesn't have the "right stuff." It could be the "made in china" sticker on the bottom. I found this unit (Rival 1050-C) at for $59 + 4 tax + 7 S&H. I guess you only get what you pay for! Next, I am going to give the Waring F800 Pro a try. It is made in Italy and comes with a 5 year warranty on the motor. It's available for 184.95 at ... The SaladShooter makes a fabulous gift for those who like big, healthy salads loaded with veggies, homemade pizza with plenty of grated cheese, desserts topped with nuts or chocolate--find yourself in that portrait somewhere? Amazingly fast, the SaladShooter literally shoots out prepared food directly into a salad bowl or in neat piles for an assemble-your-own taco party. Featuring sharp stainless-steel cutting blades, the two interchangeable cones, one for shredding and one for slicing, each slip in and out of the main chute and are secured in place with a twist-lock ring. That’s all--no complicated parts to assemble. Food should be cut into blocks or lengths that fit into the food chamber, and a chart in the user guide specifies which cone to use for which foods. To operate, one hand grips the handle of the shooter and flips on the power switch, while the other hand presses down on the food guide to produce a steady output of shredded or sliced food. There’s no need to wash the parts in between processing different kinds of food, so shredded cheese, lettuce, carrots, and more are ready one after the other. All parts except the motor base can be washed in the dishwasher. The SaladShooter is not intended for grinding coffee or processing cranberries, tomatoes, or meats. Measuring 9-1/2 by 7 by 3-1/2 inches with a five-foot cord, the SaladShooter is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my salad shooter!
When I first saw this item advertised I laughed. Why would anybody actually want something like this I thought. Then I received it as a gift about 10 years ago and have used it to grate cheese & eggs for egg salad. It's wonderful! It's quick and easy and so is the clean up. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find this product at any of my local stores anymore!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love my salad shooter!
Okay, I use it mainly to grate cheese and eggs for egg salad, but it's quick and easy and clean up and just as fast. I've had mine for years and it's still going strong. My only problem is, I can't find this product in my local stores anymore.

2-0 out of 5 stars It cut the carrots okay, but not the vegetables I eat
I am so disappointed with the salad shooter. After reading the glowing reviews I decided to order it as I love eating vetetables, but hate cutting them. It was great cutting the carrots, but the celery got stuck even though I peeled it first. I tried red pepper and the shooter sliced a few pieces and then the red pepper kept spinning in the blade instead of being cut nicely into the salad bowl. It is even worse with an onion. I am returning it for a refund.

5-0 out of 5 stars A kitchen necessity!
I received my first Salad Shooter as a Christmas present 16 years ago, while I was in college. I used it faithfully and religiously for many years, and it was the most valuable (sentimentally, anyway) appliance in my kitchen. It lasted until a few weeks ago when the motor in the base finally conked out. I searched high and low for a new one at a store locally, and even went as far as to contact Presto customer no-service to find a brick and mortar that might carry one. I am SO lost without it. You can't find them anywhere in stores anymore, except online. So, I broke down and ordered a new one from Amazon. I'm tempted to order a second one for when this one breaks down in 16 years. Who knows if Presto will even make them in 16 years? It's a great product!

Fresh pineapple has a tropical, delicious taste … but many folks can’t figure out how to get past this fruit’s thorny exterior to the sweet inside and resort to buying those perfect little rings in a can. This pineapple slicer peels, cores, and slices a fresh specimen in less than 30 seconds so there is no excuse for ever buying canned pineapple again. To use this ingenious little tool, you must first cut the top off of your fresh pineapple. Next, place the slicer in the middle of the pineapple and push down while turning the handle in a clockwise motion. Pull the slicer straight out of the pineapple and--voila!--your perfect little rings come out with the tool while the rough shell stays behind. Finally, simply slide the handle off the slicer and the pineapple rings slide off with it. The pineapple shell remains intact so you can use it as a dessert bowl or as a glass for piña coladas. The slicer comes with three blades to tackle pineapples of any size. This tool has garnered several prestigious design awards from all over the world, including Germany’s Award for Good Industrial Design, Holland’s ION’s Good Industrial Design award, and Japan’s MITI Award for Excellent Foreign Product. --Cristina Vaamonde ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Memories of Hawaii While in Michigan
Alright, I don't know how really fresh the pineapple is in Michigan, but they sell it at the grocery store. My family just loves fresh pineapple, (the canned stuff can stay in the can), but it is such a hassle to try to clean and core and slice the pineapple. NOT WITH THIS gadget!

In less than one minute, I can peel, core, slice and serve fresh pineapple rings, with very little mess to clean up afterwards. Even better, the shell remains intact for use as a fancy serving bowl along with the watermelon bowl! We are having fresh pineapple more often, and the memories of the Hawaii trip are discussed each and every time the perfect pineapple is served.

With three different blade singes, almost all pineapple sizes are covered. A great little gadget for the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC ITEM - IT'S SO EASY TO USE
I love eating pineapple but used to hate having to deal with it until I bought an Easy Slicer. It's takes about 30 seconds to do a whole pineapple and there's no mess. You can peel, core and slice just one slice or do the whole pineapple and you are left with the pineapple 'shell' intact to use as a serving bowl. It's brilliant and works so well. I highly recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This ranks as my top kitchen gadget purchase ever! The three different size slicers make it easy to slice any size pineapple, and it leaves the outside intact... making a great fruit dish for entertaining.

Plus, you don't lose all that yummy pineapple juice on your cutting board. When the pineapple is removed, the extra juice remains inside and you can enjoy a small cup of fresh pineapple juice in addition to the perfectly cut pineapple rings.

I would highly recommend this product. I use it frequently, and with the time I've saved, it's easily been worth the modest price.

5-0 out of 5 stars IT'S MAGIC (according to my 4 year old niece)
It's will never buy canned pinapple again. Just twist it in, and watch it cut through. When you reach the bottom, just twist out while pulling up on the handle, and the rings come right out. The core remains inside. Just slide the rings off the blade, and you are done. I eat fresh pinapple with breakfast, and as a healty snack each evening.
The shells make great party decorations!
Highly recommended.
This is great!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Works like a charm!
I found this tool to do exactly as promised: perfectly cored and sliced pineapple in no time at all. Very, very easy to use, and much less messy than the usual way of cutting up pineapple. It also seems that you don't waste a lot of fruit in the cutting, especially with 3 sizes of the tool included. Excellent product! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top Notch Home Slicer
I first ordered a model 645 Veri-tilt unit but was disapointed because the "travel" on the slicer was not adaquate to slice my much loved prosciutto. The blade was only 7 inches and was serrated. It also lacked a blade cover so I was sure it would "drag" when slicing. (At $20.00 a pound for good prosciutto I didn't even try!)

The larger model 662 with the 8.6 inch smooth blade was a far better choice! It had a covered blade that only exposes the cutting edge of the blade to the meat surface. This is also a much safer configuration then the "exposed" blades found on the less expensive models.

The unit is solidly built and appears to be of a very high quality. The travel on the slicing cariage is long enough to cut most meats. The "rump" side of the average prosciutto is still a bit larger than the travle distance of the slicer but this is easily overcome by trimming the sides of the meat to slightly narrow it.

I have been thrilled with how thin this slicer can can "shave" a piece of meat. I can actually read through some of the slices. I have used this slicer to cut Roast beef, salami, turkey, chicken, tomatoes, onions, prosciutto, and even limes! It has never failed to perform as I had hoped. This is truly a "deli" quality slicer even if it is a bit small. Don't get me wrong, it is still a rather large machine and needs a bit of counter and storage space to operate. I actually am happy that it will fit in my cabinet, because my wife wasen't thrilled with the idea of this thing being on the countertop all of the time!

Having this machine has saved me both time and money when entertaining friends. (We throw parties a few times a year and it has made quite an impression on our guests!)

I have not tried the included blade sharpener yet but the instruction are clear and quite simple. I'll post again once I have tried the sharpener.

Thanks, Amazon for a great product and a gracious return policy! ... Read more

This professional mandoline slicer for slicing and shredding potatoes and other vegetables comes with everything you need: a 4-quart stainless-steel bowl, a plastic storage lid, four interchangeable cutting blade cartridges, and a cutting slide with a safety guard. Just slide in the cartridge you need--thin slice, thick slice, julienne (1/8-inch), or french-fry cutter (1/4-inch)--press the safety guard with sharp prongs onto the end of the vegetable, and slice away. The safety guard rests on side rails over the blade so your hand can't slip, and the entire cutting slide apparatus snaps onto the top of the bowl. The stainless-steel bowl has four rubber grippers underneath so it won't slide while you're slicing. Pop the plastic storage lid on top and put leftovers in the fridge. Every part of the mandoline slicer, including the cutting blades, is dishwasher-safe. Lifetime limited warranty. --Doree Armstrong ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I bought this thinking I wouldn't have to julienne veggies by hand any more. Ha! The julienne blade shreds so fine I may as well use my grater(which would be a lot safer).

Also, the tips of the julienne blade and the french fry blade are raised above the stationary blade when slotted into place(very dangerous). This then cuts through the top of the veggie not yet sliced, leaving an uneven mess in the bowl when I continue.

All of the inserts stick when inserted and are hard to remove; I ended up covering it with a towel and pulling it up and down really hard(that's an accident waiting to happen).

The slicing inserts work okay if you absolutely must have uniform slices(with firm fresh veg only), but I'll probably go back to using my knife.

The prongs on the handle don't secure all veggies very well and I found myself slicing some vegetables without it(not a good habit to get into).

I like that the bowl comes with a lid, this I'll probably use more than the mandoline, unless I find a recipe that calls for shaved zucchini slices!

3-0 out of 5 stars Too "Gadgety" for me.....
I bought this because a friend said she "loved her mandoline slicer." Well, I've used this 3 times in the last year. It's very large to store in a small kitchen. The large bowl has a fitted lid for convenient storage (cut veggies in the morning, cook in the evening). I also don't really bother with the blade storage unit--I just put everything into the bowl and cover it with the lid, although the black handled cutting blade and the lid do not fit over each other. I ether have to put the cutting blade on top of the lid or leave the lid off.

Like another reviewer, I also had trouble removing the blade from the unit, and worried that I'd slice off my finger. I finally figured it out, though. I julienned zucchini, but got a large tangled mass of green. Carrots were hard to put in the holder (I suppose large carrots would work?). It's not designed to cut veggies lengthwise--I always have trouble with the grip sliding or shredding my veggies before it gets to the cutting blade. Sometimes perfectly matched circles just aren't what I'm looking for in my food.

I like my santoku knife much better. I have less clutter on my prep counter and less stuff to wash. The mandoline might be faster if I got used to it, but I don't mind spending the extra minute to cut veggies by hand.

4-0 out of 5 stars learning to Pay the mandolin was qick and easy
Most of the Mandolins that I have seen were rectanguar and do not have their own stainless steel bowl as this one does.It very easy you simply take one of the cutters from the compact holder where they are kept and simply put it the slot where it goes sliding it forward untill it stops and then make sure the little button on top of it snaps in place it stops the blade sliding back with the veggie you are trying to make perfect lttle slots or slices of for your guests.

We like to take a sweet potatou and make very thin pieces with the steel cutter and quickly stir fry them in a litte olive oil
Like with all "Gadgets'You have to use a litte common sense and if you have an ugly veggie that you are trying to make pretty dish wih then you will have take a medium but very sharp knife but, please handle it safely ,and maybe do a little strightening so the unit will pass through the Mandolin. You can prepair a large or small amount of food very quickly. But Allwys remember when you start getting down to small amounts you must slip on the pusher handle or you will be giving youself a very quick manicure or worse. Everyone who has seen mine in action or eaten the results goes crazy for one-and you cant beat the price!

4-0 out of 5 stars Not sure
Cleans easily and does make uniform cuts after a bit of practice. I found holding the bowl on a table (rather than up on a counter) and pushing down a bit harder on the plunger helps. One thing I would like is the ability to get additional blades for thinner slices, etc. I have not been able to find any for this unit. You are stuck with what came with the unit, but for thinner slices I end up using a knife.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value
I got this slicer some time ago, used it once, and had the same negative reaction of a lot of the posters here. The blades are viciously sharp and fitting them into place can be tricky. The pronged holder is awkward to use, but don't use it and you risk injury. I shoved it into a cabinet and forgot about it.

Then a few days ago I decided to make scalloped potatoes following instructions in one of Laurie Colwin's books and I didn't want to get out the food processor. This mandoline worked great and now I love it.

Here's my version of the recipe: Peel as many medium-sized russet potatoes as there are people eating this, plus one. Fill the bowl of the mandoline with water, and slice the potatoes using the thick slicer; drain. In a *nonstick* pot, boil the potato slices in a mixture of water and milk to cover (all milk, or milk and cream, makes this richer). Add garlic if you like - I use the pre-minced stuff in the jar. Boil until tender - 10-15 minutes. If you taste them, they should be mostly cooked. Salt to taste. Ladle potatoes with some of the cooking liquid into a casserole and bake in a hot oven (temp doesn't really matter - if you're cooking something else at the same time at anywhere from 350-425 degrees, stick in the potatoes) for 20 minutes (time is not exact either). Then add a topping: I used breadcrumbs (panko actually) sauteed in butter, cooled a bit and mixed with shredded cheese. I topped the potatoes and put it under the broiler for a couple of minutes. ... This lightweight cutter divides a potato into its french-fry essence in a jiffy. One blade creates up to 49 3/8-inch fries with a single lever-push. The other creates up to 25 half-inch fries. You'll get those numbers, however, only if you precisely shape a large potato to fit the bed. The bed's size is the cutter's only drawback. Even if you cut a large potato to fit the head, the fry length is at most 3-1/2 inches. That length, however, is ideal for carrot, cucumber, and zucchini batons to assemble a vegetable tray around a bagna cauda, an Italian dipping sauce of olive oil, butter, garlic, and anchovies. And such batons get you halfway to a pretty dice for a vegetable soup. Hand wash. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Never knew we would use soo many potatoes
I used to buy a bag of potatoes and it would sit in the kitchen forever. Now, potatoes don't last at all, they have to be replenished often just like milk. Our kids love french fries. With this item and my handy dandy deep fryer even my teenager can make some yummy chili cheese fries in no time at all. There are many different ways to make fries. Most of the time they eat cheese fries with sour cream on top as a side, snack, or meal. You can melt meat on top with the cheese and it makes a great meal for a family on the go. We have used ours for two years now, if has held up so far. If by chance we experienced difficulty or defect with the product we would of course purchase another as quickly as possible. This item is used several times per week, ... so why not try it out.

5-0 out of 5 stars I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
I just received this cutter today and I used it for dinner tonight .This cutter is great, it took no time at all to make the french fries and it couldn't have been any easier. Homemade french fries have alot more flavor and with this cutter my family will be eating alot more homemade fries.

1-0 out of 5 stars too hard tocut potatoes,
using either white or red potatoes the lever does not have enough leverage to push through and cut the fries....we bought it for use in small (49) fries... more leverage needed. We did not buy on line but at an outlet mall in San Marcos Texas..l

Note: on the ad for this it says $11.99 as soon as you say buy it comes up $12:99 which is what we paid for it in the mall.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jumbo is better
I bought this product a while ago, and it is fine, except you have to cut up the potato, etc.

I just received today, a Progressive JUMBO Potato Cutter that I saw in a catalog. Progressive now makes a cutter that is larger, and can cut the whole potato. Perfect.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Great!
Easy to use and clean. Makes short work of slicing homemade french fries, quickly and easily makes one serving or six. I used the dishwasher to clean mine and had no problems. ... Read more

Long favored by professional chefs, the traditional mandoline is still the best tool for creating precise, uniform slices of fruits or vegetables. Ideal for waffle cuts and julienne, it can produce attractive pommes Anna or paper-thin slices of cuke in record time. This French-made stainless steel mandoline is designed to make the slicing process both easier and safer, with a smooth inclined plane for a work surface, an adjustable folding foot, and a single handle to hold the device securely in place. Eminently adaptable for every cutting task in your kitchen, the Matfer features a slanted blade and plate that adjusts slicing width from 1-/4-inch thick to microscopically thin. A unique blade holder design permits users to julienne strips in 1/8, 3/16, and 3/8-inch sizes, then revert almost instantly to the reversible straight/serrated central blade for waffle cuts or straight slices. Unlike other mandolines, the Matfer's free-floating pusher assembly lets you slice any size vegetable and limits the waste that often occurs at the end of a piece of food. (For safety's sake, always use the pusher, which protects hands from extraordinarily sharp blades.) Also unlike other mandolines, the blades can be sharpened and adjusted, which, however should not be necessary for some time. Because there are no hidden screws and nooks, this unit is also remarkably easy to clean and take apart. It's safe to use in the dishwasher, although extreme caution should be used when handling the blades. --Mary Park ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Avg at best
When I got this slicer, I sliced everything I could get my hands on such as apples, bagels, bell pepper, onions and so on. It worked very well slicing those items. But what I bought it for was roast beef. Even though it sliced it pretty well, it wasn't a smooth process. On the pullback after making a pass to slice, you had to hold the roast beef or it would dislodge from the holder. Maybe I had high expectations but I specifically bought it for the roast beef and it did not perform well for it. Also, the clean up was a mess. Pieces of beef got all over the place and it was very time consuming to clean everything up. Maybe it would work better with cold roast beef. I let my roast rest about 20 min before cutting.

4-0 out of 5 stars Food slicer
I have used an older model of this slicer.
You have to remove the blade using the big slotted center screw on the blade to clean up the inside of the gear/drive case. (Caution the blade is sharp!) On the model I used you also could remove the motor and basically disassemble everything else. Because of the cleaning time this is not something you would want to use to cut up a can of spam or one small roast.
Otherwise they usually work darn good cutting slices of say 5 lb deli meats and such.

2-0 out of 5 stars sliced well, impossible to really clean
