2-0 out of 5 stars Beware - it may not be what you expect.
We so looked forward to our "60-Bottle Wine Cellar, with Slide-Out Racks". Unfortunately, it was delivered damaged but Amazon.com was great about sending out a new one quickly, etc. No problem with Amazon.com. The problem is that the racks do not "slide-out" as Haier claims. If you lift the back of the rack out of a groove the rack can be lifted out - careful if you have 5 wine bottles on there! No "easy access" as it says in the product description. Haier should be honest and call them "adjustable racks" like in a regular refrigerator. We called Haier and they said their "gliding" racks come out on a track. But who knew to look for "gliding" instead of "sliding"? So if you don't need racks that slide out on a track so you can see the bottles towards the back of each rack, then you'll probably be happy with this unit. We aren't.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work Out of the Box
I took it out of the box, plugged it in and 10 minutes later it made a really loud continuous high pitch sound. Called Haier; finally got a guy to come out and he said we needed a new compressor! I wish I would have got it at Bestbuy so I could have returned it. I wouldn't recommend buying this on Amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value for the money
Already had the 20 bottle Haier, but my collection outgrew it. Attractive, affordable and fairly quiet. Had some difficulty adjusting the temperature to where I wanted it, but once I got it set it has done a good job of maintaining it--the temperature within a particular region only varies by 2-3 degrees.

However, the temperature from top to bottom vaires by 8-10 degrees. Not a problem--according to Wine Spectator, 50-60 degree range is acceptable for storing red wines (in my case vintage ports). A slightly higher or lower temperature just means the wine matures faster or slower (but don't get too far out of this range, which the Haier can prevent). I have 4 thermometers in mine, spread from top to bottom. The top varies from 59-62 and the bottom 51-53. The other two thermometers show the middle region maintaining a temperature of 53-57 degrees. The bottles I plan to drink within 10-15 years of the vintage year are on the top two shelves, the rest lower.

NOTE: This unit should not be used in an area where the temperature may excede 80F. It will still cool, but not as well and will run more frequently.

BOTTOM LINE: I will probably by another unit of this model or a larger Haier when my collection grows enough to need it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Service
This unit may work fine but it arrived in non-working condition. It had no power when plugged in. Haier was called and service person came out but could not get response from Haier. No call backs, no nothing. Haier parts and repair service is not satifactory. Unit is still unrepaired and will be returned after a month of trying to get part and response.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you need a cellar and are looking for a great buy.......
... this is the cellar! Especially if you are looking for a basic model to hold your growing wine collection. This model has standard features, nothing fancy: double-lined plastic? door (outer convex door is plastic, not sure about the inside door); basic shelves (I wouldn't slide them out, though); adjustable temperature (mine seems to run 2-3 degrees cooler than it's programmed for) that is easy to read. And it works just fine.

If you are on a budget, have limited space or are just looking for a basic temp-controlled, convenient place to keep your best wines, you can't go wrong with this. I haven't seen other 60-btl. chillers in this price range.

If you're thinking about getting a smaller model, consider upgrading to this 60-bottle unit. Your wines will add up quickly and, for the slightly extra cost and height, you'll be glad you have the storage available. My friends thought it was too much for me to get a 60-btl chiller (and I live in FL where temp control IS NEEDED), but they've come around as the cooler's become fuller. And a couple of wine novices are now interested in getting a cellar for their homes.

It should be said -- as one of the reviewers below noted -- the compressor is not silent. You'll hear it kicking in. So don't get this one if you are looking for a quiet deluxe chiller.

Last note: kudos to Amazon for including this item with my Free SuperSavers shipping options! Not having to schlep the big box home from the store and up the stairs was worth it!!

Good Luck ! ... Read more

Ideal for home brewers or just regular ol' beer drinkers, this cooler keeps cold brews on tap and ready to pour. With a capacity of 6.5 cubic feet, the cooler holds up to a half-barrel keg and comes with a complete CO2 tap system to get things flowing. The tap system includes a Sankey keg tapper, a type that fits all North American beer kegs; a pressure gauge; a pressure regulator; and an arm, for pulling drafts, that rises out of the cooler's top. A cleaning kit and beer FAQ guide are thrown in for good measure. The cooler's sleek black exterior and compact size (37 inches tall, 23-5/8 inches wide, and 25 inches deep) make it inconspicuous in the corner of a rec room, workroom, or kitchen. However, four casters on this kegerator's bottom let hosts move the unit to where the party is. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for homebrewing
This Sanyo kegerator is a great little fridge. It has the capacity for a 1/2 barrel keg with the include 5# CO2 cylinder inside if you want to get a keg from your local liquor store, or you can use it for 5 gal corny kegs filled with homebrew. You can fit two standard corny kegs side by side in the fridge with the CO2 bottle. There is floorspace for 4 corny kegs or 3 & the CO2 bottle, but the top of the fridge in the back dips down about an inch too low to fit a corny keg under it. Easiest solution is to chop off half of the rubber handle on the corny keg and you can fit in two front to back with a full 6 gal carboy & airlock next to them or another corny keg. It works great for lagering and is a pretty good unit overall. The CO2 regulator that is included is single gauge (dispense pressure) but a second gauge for CO2 bottle pressure can easily be attached. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
Received as a Bridal Gift. Very nice, beautiful non-reflecting curved glass shows off our collection of Napa Wine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Important Point to Consider
This model does not feature UV protection on the glass door so it's useless for storing wine long term except in a garage or basement. If you plan on installing in your kitchen, get something else with UV protection. Haier has a higher end model that does feature UV glass. Too bad because I think it's very stylish and understated and actually nicer looking than the higher end model.

The main thing to remember here is that you need to either situate this in a dark place (a basement would be better than a garage since your electric bill will be less) or you need to plan on using it only for short-term wine storage -- very important fact to remember in deciding on models to purchase.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great wine cooler for small spaces - holds more, too!
In spite of previous reviewer who obviously can't fit the bottles in right, I managed to store 47 (yes, 47) standard 750ml bottles. All you have to do is alternate the direction the necks point on the bottom two shelves, holding 4 each. I fit 9 on the top shelf alone, but it has to be the right bottle shape. The other five shelves will hold 6 bottles each - 5 in a row, plus a sixth at a right angle so you can see the label thru the door. It's a snug fit, but it can work...

I use this to store red wines, and it does a great job for my needs. I have a small apartment, and this unit's size was perfect. It keeps the wines at the proper temp, and yes there's a faint bit of gurgling noise when the compressor is operating, but no more noticeable that your household fridge.

For the money, this is really a great deal, esp. with the 5-year warranty. ...

4-0 out of 5 stars Not perfect, but a great value for a decent product
This is a good wine cellar for the price. It's compact, quiet, and unobtrusive, the motor doesn't generate heat (very important in our non-air-conditioned home).

It maintains a constant temperature, but I recommend using a separate calibrated thermometer to verify the displayed temperature. We found a 5-degree discrepancy between the displayed and actual temperatures. You can't recalibrate the thermostat (or at least the manual provides no instructions on how to do so), but you can simply adjust the thermostat setting to make up for any discrepancy.

My one complaint is that there is no way the unit can accommodate 42 bottles as advertised. It will hold 36 regular bottles, max. Maybe the manufacturer included half-bottles in its claim? Regardless, I recommend doing what we did, and zoom the photo of this or any other Haier wine cellar and count how many slots are available. We counted 36 in the photo, which is exactly how many bottles the unit will really hold. We had done the same with the 30 bottle unit and counted only 28 slots, which is why we orderd this larger unit.

But all in all, it's a solid product, and you can't beat the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible horrible customer service
This came damaged (minor damage, the light won't go out, which makes the wine warm and ups my electric bill), but we've called customer service FOUR times and still have not had a service call or a replacement part sent.

DO NOT BUY IF YOU WANT ANY CUSTOMER SERVICE ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great value
I bought this from my Gold Box specials, at an amazing price. I've always wanted a wine cooler, but most are too expensive.

I pulled all my good and not so good wines out of closets and cabinets, and they fit neatly into this nice little cooler. I keep it in my living room, which doesn't get a lot of sunlight, so I'm not worried about UV rays. It's quiet, attractive, reliable, and handy.

I also use it occasionally for coffee or cheese or other refrigerated items that don't have to be too cold. It maintains a temperature of about 50 degrees, which is displayed just above the door.

You don't have to be a wine snob to get this cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product
I received the Haier BC112G a couple of weeks ago, perfectly delivered by the freight compagny Amazon uses. I am so far very satisfied by this product: the price is right, its sleek look is a nice addition to my living room, it is pretty quiet (not disturbing at all, although you can hear it of course), it easily accomodates 30 bottles, it has a good height allowing variations of temperature between top to bottom, digital temperature, a basic lock - useful if you have kids, and finally a good warranty. I had made extensive research, this product along with free shipping ranks among the top options for any wine fan. Only potential negative point I could raise is that I am not certain if the smoke glass door protects against UVs - it does according to Haier customer service, but doesn't according to some internet reviewers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Important Point to Consider Before Purchase!
This model does not feature UV protection on the glass door so it's useless for storing wine long term except in a garage or basement. If you plan on installing in your kitchen, get something else with UV protection. Haier has a higher end model that does feature UV glass. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for limited or tight spaces
I hate having wines sitting out and waiting to be chilled. This is an awsome product and the price is great. Amazon has the best price on this that I have seen, over $90 more on another website. The racks are perfect for those liquors you need to keep chilled upon opening. I know someone who uses the racks to hold cases of overly expensive cigars.

Customize the temperature settings to how what you prefer wines. For added security, you can lock the cabinet, which is nice. The top of the cellar is skid proof so you can open and serve your wines up top without the worry of it slipping off. Last, but not least, the legs are adjustable and can be used on any flooring surface.

The cabinet is a greatsize, but not to big to go in a small apartment, office or fit in a tight space in a kitchen.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good... while it lasts
I bought this for my wife less than two years ago and it has been in one place the whole time. Up until last night, it worked fine.

Last night I noticed that the temperature (normally restricted from 45 - 60 degrees) had dropped to 23 degrees. Despite efforts to "reset" the temperature, it still kept chilling. It must be the thermostat, but the warranty is for only one year (except for the compressor, which is 5 years).

The nearest authorized service center is 30 miles away, so the time and cost of repair makes me want to warn others that:

This is a good unit, but I would look for something with a longer warranty. Under two years of service is pretty grim for the cost of this item.

Update: Unplugging the unit overnight and placing towels to soak up melted ice seems to have corrected the problem. I upgraded my rating to only three stars, since the manufacturer did not suggest this to me.

Update: The above update only temporarily "fixed" the problem. Find another brand/model ... Read more

This counter-high refrigerator is the perfect size for use in an efficiency kitchen or as a second fridge in a TV/entertainment room. It stands 33-1/2 inches tall and is 18-5/8 inches wide and 19-7/8 inches deep, offering just over 3-1/2 cubic feet of cold storage space. Three adjustable wire shelves in the main compartment and three door shelves offer ample room for soda, beer, and snacks, and a crisper below the bottom shelf keeps fruits and vegetables fresh. A freezer compartment runs across the top of the shelves to hold frozen meals or ice cubes in the included tray. The thermostat operates via a dial control, making it easy to adjust the temperature to your preference.

This refrigerator has a contemporary-looking coated stainless-steel door that is resistant to fingerprints, and a textured black finish on the sides that wipes down easily. The door hinge is reversible and can be adjusted to swing out in whichever direction is more convenient. Two leveling legs ensure that the refrigerator is stable even when resting on a slightly sloped floor. this is the fridge i had when i went away to college, it's the largest one that most dorms will allow and it can hold more food than you should really need it to. gallon jugs fit well and it keeps stuff cold. the freezer is very good at making ice and freezing stuff. so long as you keep the thing clean you will have no problems.

and when it's not in a dorm room, you can use it outdoors at a bbq (much better than a cooler). ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Inability To Control The Temperature, Noisy
I have owned this beer dispenser for 11 months. In that time I have had 4 service calls all for the same problem, inability to control the temperature. At first when I got it I could not get the temperature to go below 47 degrees F. A service call was made and the thermostat and the thermocouple were replaced. It worked for about 5 weeks, and then the temperature went back to 47 and stayed there. Another service call and the same solution with the same results. It works for several weeks, and then the temperature starts drifting up. In December yet another service call for the same problem. Again the thermostat and the thermocouple were replaced. That fix lasted about four months. I thought it was finally OK. Well last month (May) it started drifting down. I kept turning the thermostat up, and the temperature kept going down after a few days. It settled at 32 degrees F, and I froze a quarter full keg, and some sodas I had in there. I got another keg and now with the thermostat turned all the way up to warm it stays at 30 degrees F. I have now frozen another keg. Again I have another call into Haier customer service and have asked for a replacement. Again, they said they will send a request to corporate and I will her from them in 72 hours. They said that five months ago I am still waiting. I owned a Danby before this. I set the temperature once and never had a problem. I got the Haier because I wanted a beer dispenser that would hold a half keg and the Danby was only good for quarter kegs. This thing is the pits. I agree with the other "rater". I insisted that the box be opened up prior to taking it from the shipping site. Sure enough, the fridge was dented on two sides. The packaging was awful. A VERY thin foam siding inside a box. I wasn't surprised that the fridge was damaged. I sent it back and now am awaiting a refund. Very disappointed!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not packed to be shipped!!!
I ordered this item twice! Both times it came damaged with a torn up box. The item was packed in a very thin cardboard box that was thinner than a moving box, and had no padding or styrophome or anything. It arrived with a torn box and the chiller was severly damaged. This was a huge hassel and I will NEVER order from Amazon.com again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This Danby is a Cold Winner.
I bought this attractive little appliance for use in an airplane hangar where the occasional consumption of perishable food and cold drink storage is desirable. This quiet running compact fit the bill perfectly. Some designs in this class of refrigerator are barely capable of holding 2 six-packs of canned beverage. Why bother? This fridge with 4.3 cubic feet of internal space is generous enough to store a reasonable amount of perishable food stuffs. Just don't expect too much utility of the freezer though, as its capacity is quite small. The internal layout of the Danby is well thought out and the vertical beverage stack on the door is a welcomed plus. The upper portion of the door also includes a special clear plastic insert to accomodate up to 9 eggs, but is an easily removed option. You can even change the direction of the door swing by swapping out the reversible hinges. Sized at a reasonable 20" across, the top of my Danby refrigerator perfectly accomodates a small microwave oven and the combination of the two is hard to beat when eating a casual meal miles away from the full sized comforts of the home kitchen!

4-0 out of 5 stars Nearly Perfect
This little fridge does the trick in my household. With 5 roommates I decided it made sense to get a fridge for my room since our kitchen unit is just packed to the gills. This 4.3 cu ft model meets my needs in many ways. I love being able to fit large drink bottles in the door, and I appreciate the removable shelving. As for the freezer, it's not that great, but I wasn't hoping for much. Freezers in mini-fridges are generally [bad] anyway. I can keep frozen vegetables in there with good success and make ice, but I don't love it. The other thing to consider is the can tube. I don't drink lots of cans so that's pretty dead space for me-- I keep the baking soda in there. Since this fridge is just supplemental, that's not an issue, but if you need to keep food for a couple people in this unit consider that the can space could be wasted as it's got a mandated function. I don't know what else you could possibly put in there beside something like celery or carrots standing up. Oh, and this fridge is a great size, can be used as counter space, and [it is very] quiet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great if you like warm food...
If you are looking for a compact refrigerator to keep food cold then don't buy this one. Temp only gets down to 48... not cold enough.

1-0 out of 5 stars two came and went
We ordered this for a spare fridge and it would be a great size, but the first on came and it was damaged. It looked like it had been dropped. Then I called Target. They did great taking care of getting us another on. Only the second came today and it was also dropped from a truck. The back was dented and it was already rusting. so I think we will try some where else for this item.

5-0 out of 5 stars For beer and wine it's a winner
Last time I gave a party, a lot of friends showed up with cases of warm beer. Guess what? That beer was never consumed because it never got chilled - the fridge was full of food for the party and putting beer in the freezer is a recipe for disaster if you lose track of it. Wish I'd had one of these then, but I have one now and it can be quite handy. This cooler is perfect for chilling bottles and cans of beer, especially if your fridge has an ice machine like mine (or if you have a bag of ice handy). I haven't tried it yet on wine or champagne but if the bottle fits in the cooler it should work well. It has a small footprint so it fits well on a countertop. I plan to use it at my next barbecue and am really pleased with how quiet and functional it seems to be. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Invented at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, this rapid beverage chiller is billed as the fastest way to cool canned or bottled drinks. The Cooper Cooler is able to accommodate containers of all sizes, from wine bottles to soda cans to plastic juice bottles and is said to chill wine 20 times faster and soda cans 90 times faster than the refrigerator. An easy-to-use touchpad lets you set the cooler to preset chilling times for bottles, cans, or wine and has an "Extra" button for folks who want drinks chilled to ice cold (34 degrees F). Also the fastest way to warm beverages, this appliance is great for heating baby bottles evenly without destroying any nutrients or warming red wine bottles that have been stored at cellar temperature.

Our tests on a bottle of warm sparkling cider produced a cooled-down beverage in a brisk 3-1/2 minutes. Drinks rotate as they chill for a more consistent temperature but shouldn’t jog or explode carbonated beverages. However, contrary to the Cooper Cooler’s claims, our bottle did fizz over when we opened the cap. Choosing the "No Spin" option on the touchpad will ensure that carbonated beverages aren’t overshaken. The Cooper Cooler is great for parties or for use in an office kitchen, RV, or boat and is covered by a 1-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!!
This thing is amazing. It saves me so much space in the fridge. The only thing I hate is when I put wine bottles in it. Often I forget to write down what wines I have. When I forget to put the cooler on no spin it kills the labels. However this is entiresly my fault. I would tell anyone to buy this cooler.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chills better than the competition
I have been looking for a product to chill my wine and beer fast for a long time. We just don't have the room in our refrig. to keep all our beer and wine. I have bought a Peliter chiller before, but they did not work. They never chilled my beverage cold enough. I bought this item because their website was specific about what temperature it can chill beverages to. When I received it and tried it on my beer and wine, I was shocked to see that it really chilled it ice cold based on the setting. If you want a cold beer or glass of wine and you do not have anything chilled, your options are to wait a long time in the refrig. or freezer (because you don't want to add ice to your beer or wine) or add some ice and water to the Cooper Cooler and have a drink within minutes. The Cooper Cooler is easy to use because all you have to do is press the button for what you are drinking and the machine does the rest and shuts off when your drink is cold. This machine solved our problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cool but doesn't chill...
So I got the Cooper Cooler for my office. It seemed so cool and slick. And the description said it brings soda cans down to 34 degrees in a minute. Doesn't get much better than that right? WRONG!
The little detail the editorial forgot to mention was that you have to put ice-cubes (YES, ICE CUBES) in the device in order for it to cool down your soda. Well, I've got a news flash for you - if I had ice cubes handy I could put them in my soda and be done with it. And ice cubes are much cheaper than this device.

So bear in mind this cooler is only useful if you have a real fridge near by and want to cool things fast. That's the only valid use-case. There you go.

1-0 out of 5 stars Your bottles might not fit
I received my Cooper Cooler yesterday with much anticipation. After unpacking the unit I took three of my favorite wines to test fit. I found that the Chardonay I drink does not fit in the machine and neither did the Champagne, the slender bottles did fit. Since it seemed like the machine was about a half inch too narrow I called the company and explained my problem. I was told that they were aware that most Champagne will not fit and some of the new special format bottles will also not fit and the company is looking into a solution(make it a half or three quarters inch wider would seem a no brainer).Since I did not test its cooling capabilities I can only tell you that since I could not fit the wine bottles that I normally drink in the machine it did not work at all. Also I am still trying to figure out why anyone would buy this thing to cool a can of soda?

4-0 out of 5 stars The George Foreman of fridges.
This device delivers on its promise: it honestly does chill your soda/beer/wine orders of magnitude faster than the fridge or the freezer. The downside is that it does not do the chilling by itself: water and ice must be supplied. The directions recommend two trays of ice and two cups cold water, which is more than enough for getting a 12-pack to 38F. My experience was that it took 25% longer using only one tray of ice. The device makes a tiny amount of noise, say 1/10th that of a dish washer, but they brilliantly have a "no spin" (quiet) mode should you be using this in an office/baby nursery/library. The button layout and design are extremely well thought out. Press "Can", or "bottle", and "spin" or "no spin".

All appliances should be this effective and easy to use. ... Read more
