Great price, Great features
After our old vaccum bit the dust, it was time to hunt for a new one. I spent 2 or 3 hours searching the web for the best-selling, highest-rated vac (hey, life's too short to make all the mistakes yourself - learn from others). The Eureka 4870DT was consistently ranked in the top 3 on everyone's list. So, I bought one.
Installation took 1-2 minutes and required no tools (I've yet to read the instructions...). Once complete, I plugged it in, turned it on, and grinned, as the sound of the motor was simply ear candy...vvvmmmmm
Now, the true test comes - under the dining room table (those of you with kids can imagine). However, before I get there I should mention 2 obvious cons: weight and the foot release lever.
First, this vacuum weighs 21 lbs, which is ~ 4 - 7 lbs heavier than most vacuums in its class. Second, the foot release lever is a bit stiff at first, I've noticed it loosen up a little bit with more use (or perhaps I've just acclimated).

After my initial mini-inspection, I was off to the grandstand court, under the dining room table. Click--clank--vmmmvmmm-click-click--vmmm-click-vvvvmmm-vvvmmm-vvvmm, all clean. The one obvious pro is that the suction is awesome! It does a great job on carpets, use the hose for corners.

As my old vac didn't have a hepa filter, I wasn't used to the smell (it doesn't stink or anything; kind of reminds me of a hosptial or doctor's office smell)

All-in-all I give it an 'A'.

Oh, one more thing, although the vaccum comes with extra bags, you don't have to immediately use one as 1 bag comes pre-installed (guess I should read the instructions :-)).

Great Value and Bang for your Buck
I researched a lot among upright vacuums. This vacuum is great for the money that you pay, further it does its job very well. It comes with several attachments which are all held on to the main vacuum. Things like foot leaver, carpet/hard wood floor clip is slightly tight when new but it gets ok upon few uses, attachments don't fall off they have to be snapped-in correctly. Some reviews said that belt gives up fast; I have not faced it as yet. The roller moves very fast hence obliviously, one should take care it does not suck up shoe lace or any loose cloth. Also since roller moves so fast that at times if feel like a self propelled vacuum, which means it really brushes the carpet and yet is gentle. The hose could have been a bit longer hence I give a 4*, but then again for the price and its quality work was the best out there. Great I did not buy a Dyson!!!, can get 4 of these.

It's sucks, but in a good way!
We've had it for about a month. We were tired of the bagless types you had to empty all the time. This works good, strong suction. Only thing is, it looks like a toy, with a lot of plastic.

Better than expected
I bought this vacuum based largely on the customer reviews. I wanted one rated highly by Consumers (reviews indicated it was) and it needed to be affordable. Because of my pets and alergies creeping up on me, I wanted a Hepa filter as well. I received the vacuum and couldn't wait to try it and I was very happy with the results. The vacuum picked up everything (cat and dog hair too), fluffed the nap on this old carpet and actually made it look as if I had had it cleaned! I was happily surprised to find that some spots I was going to use a rug cleaner on because my old vacuum hadn't gotten them out were gone after using this Eureka Vac. My only negative comment is that it is heavier than I expected it to be; however, as previous reviewers commented, the brush action actually does help pull the vacuum forward as if it were self-propelled so that helps quite a bit. I would recommend this one to someone as a great vacuum at a great price.

Great Vacuum!!!
I bought one of these vacuums for our daughter at the end of last summer when their very old vacuum quit. I did a review of the consumer magazines at the time and this one seemed at the top of the heap.

Meanwhile I've been using our older Eureka vacuum new enough to be the plastic type (6 or 8 years old?) and getting results far from good and needed multiple passes in some areas to get the carpets clean.

Every time I see our daughter she thanks me again for the vacuum and raves about it and how their friends ask if they got new carpets. It is that good!

Amazon had an even better deal than last summer and I finally decided to get one before they are discontinued and the price of the replacement for it goes up. Free shipping was estimated at a week or more but I got it IN 3 DAYS! It's hard to beat that though it's likely a result of being in California only a couple of hundred miles from the area of Nevada from where it was shipped.

I've cleaned a couple of carpets with it and the kitchen vinyl floor.

POSITIVES:
* It seems to really get the carpets clean, both relative plush one and a dense low pile one and the vinyl floor is free of the dirt and kitchen droppings. ISN'T THAT WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT???
* It seems to have as much or better suction using the hose and attachments as most canister vacuums that I've ever used. Far superior to any other upright I've ever used.
* It has a cord that is quite a bit longer than the one in the older Eureka that it is replacing. A great help in the long family room we have.
* The tools are securely held in place, unlike some vacuums that I've used where they keep falling off as you use the vacuum.
* The brush stops rotating when you return the handle to the vertical position. No more areas of the carpet that get a bunch of rubbing on them when you use the suction hose and attachments.
* The HEPA filtering is a real nice feature. I'll investigate getting washable replacement filters (see another review here for info) for this vacuum and our daughter's.

NEGATIVES:
* As I recall was mentioned more than once in these Amazon reviews when I read them last summer, it IS much harder to PULL than any other vacuum I've used. My wife would complain but since I do most of the vacuuming it's not a problem and it's a result of the superior cleaning that it does so you can't have everything.
* The switches are hard to push and latch and the brush roll control in particular had to be pushed much harder than I'd usually push a handle made from plastic. The handle lock foot switch likewise is hard to press and wasn't easy to activate to lower the handle to the floor to clean under low furniture. Now that I know how hard things need to be pressed it'll be easier to work it and maybe things will get looser as they are used but my wife would have problems with this.
* The upholstery brush doesn't easily go into the place for it and the only way I could get it to stay in was to push VERY HARD on one edge of it and only have it held in by that one edge. The manual doesn't give details on exactly how it mounts and again my wife would never get it held in were she to use it.
* The unpacking, even when I was particularly careful spread small pellets of styrofoam everywhere -- a great chance to try out the vacuum -- and the styrofoam BB sized pieces stick to the plastic and hose of the vacuum when you take it out of the box. Don't forget to vacuum off the vacuum itself before you spread them even further. It would have been nice if it had been in a large paper sack so I could have removed it without all the styrofoam stuck to it by the electrostatic charge and I could recycled the sack.

BOTTOM LINE:
It's not perfect but in the real world few things are when cost and features have to be traded off.

Best vacuum I have ever owned
My reconditioned vacuum came in excellent condition. I have 2 Border Collies, a black Lab and 3 cats - as well as a husband who doesn't wipe his feet very well before he comes in the house - so I have alot of dust and pet hair.
The Dyson arrived quickly - was easy to assemble - all the parts fit well - and cleaned the whole house "barefoot" clean. It rolls very easily, transitions well between carpet and hardwood (you do have to manually turn off the beater, but I don't think that is a problem). My other vacuums (a Hoover and an Oreck) would blow around the pet hair instead of picking it up but the suction on the Dyson was strong enough not to have that problem.

WOW !!!!!
I was very apprehensive of buying a reconditioned vacuum. I figured it would arrive all scratched up and nasty. Well, mine looks brand new. Not a scratch to be found. Cannister was squeeky clean, filter had zero dirt.

I would be thrilled with this vacuum even if it were scratched and dinged. We vacuumed the livingroom floor as soon as it arrived and could not believe how much stuff it pulled out of the rug. We have 14 month old twins crawling around so my wife vacuums everyday with the old oreck. I have never been happy with the oreck and I could justify my displeasure after the first time we vacuumed with this Dyson.

$250 may seem like a lot of money for a reconditioned vacuum. All I can say is: if you buy it, you wont regret it.

Refurbished Dyson rocks!
Great vacuum. It worked as new even though I got the refurbished version.

The other Central Florida person that got the refurb,returned it, got new gives up too easily. I got mine for $225. Even at $250+ it is a great deal! It is amazing all the dust you pickup with this thing.

the best vacuum I ever had
like most of the other people that reviewed dyson - I found it to be by far the best vacuum I have ever had - much better than any hoover etc.
It is quite powerfull and I was impressed first time I used it with how much dirt it collected from what I thought was a very clean carpet.
I would definitely recomand it to anyone. I don't think I will ever buy any other brand again.

Very disappointed with refurbished DYSON
After weeks and weeks of research and consideration of the refurbished Dyson, I ordered it. All previous messages stated it was like new. Well, upon receiving the Dyson, overall the appearance of the vac was in like new condition with only one issue; the hose had a smash in it. No biggie right? Since the hose is just made of wire, all I had to do was pinch the wire into place and the hose was fine. Then I started it up. The seals were not sealing and I was getting an awefule whistling sound. I went to my local retailer to see if theirs did the same and nope, it didn't. I also noticed that the suction of my refurbished Dyson was also a little less than the new one. Long story short, if you didn't get in on the $225 deal, I wouldn't recommend it. These vacs are high tech. and a lot can go wrong with them. I figured Dyson would take pride in their refurbished vac, but I was not impressed what-so-ever. Needless to say, I returned my vac and purchased a new one.

I totally recommend Dyson's new vacs. It picked up so much dirt from my house I was really impressed. And I must mention that my wife vacuumes every two weeks. Once the Dyson came to our house, it picked up three canisters of dirt and dust the first day. The house is 2800 sq. ft. VERY impressive vacuum.

With a newborn on the way, I have a huge confidence that the house is in clean shape for the todler to crawl around on.

I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT, I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I will never be without my Roomba again. Never. I have 5 dogs and 2 cats and assorted children and grandchildren. I need to vacuum more than once a day - three times is good. I run my roomba in the morning while I surf the net and in the evening while I watch TV with my husband. I know I should run it in the afternoon as well, but hey, it's gotta rest sometime.

This little gem is worth every penny and I picked up this model in a local Target since it's not available on the web yet.

I have mostly hardwood and tile floors but do have area rugs in a couple of rooms. This thing just hops onto the rugs and back off again though it sometimes lifts the edges of the rugs and sweeps it's little edge gizmo under the rug before hopping back on it. It gets every nook and cranny and I don't have to do the edges at all - they are perfect. Even my Scrubby Dutch grandmother would approve.

We love the "dirt alert" light. It's a stitch to sit and watch the thing go. My kids even want to run the vacuum - how many 10 year olds do you know who want to vacuum?????

It's entertaining to watch, does the job and keeps my floors very clean indeed. It goes everywhere, picks up so much that the first time I ran it I had to empty the little dust bin once before it was even done. That's not needed anymore though as it just keeps things clean, very clean.

The virtual walls work as they are supposed to, the animals don't bother it and it's quiet. The only thing I'd do is buy another one for the other half of the house. I can do three rooms but even with the rapid charger, it's hard to do the whole house twice a day, every day.

I can't think of a single negative thing. It comes with the rapid charger, two virtual walls and a charging base as well as the wall mount unit.

A great little gem for the kitchen, at a great price!
I picked up this Commercial Nonstick skillet along with several other pieces of Calphalon's open stock collection, and I have been impressed with every piece I've gotten. This is great for burgers as well as omeletes and pancakes. About the only "problem" with it is that I'm not accustomed quite yet to the high quality found in Calphalon, and I didn't expect the burgers to brown on a non-stick surface as quickly as they did, so I wound up with two rather rare burgers as a result of fearing that I would burn them. Now that I see how Calphalon's nonstick line cooks, I have had more success, and now I have beautifully cooked hamburgers every time.
This is nonstick, so you do have to treat it with kid gloves, but as long as you use nylon or wooden utensils, do not overheat the pan, and don't run it through the dishwasher, this pan should last you a lifetime. I'm so glad I bought this, because I know that Calphalon's line of Collector's Edition products are only available for a limited time each year. I'm glad I didn't miss out on this beauty before it was gone forever!

My "new" favorite pan.........
I can't say enough great things about this pan. I bought it as a low cost alternative to an omelet pan and it has far exceeded my expectations. It is absolutely wonderful to cook omelets in -or any egg dish. They come out perfectly every time and the non-stick coating and low sides allow you to simply slide the eggs out of the pan onto the waiting plate. It is the perfect size to heat a solitary tortillas too! This size is wonderful for cooking a serving or two and should be quite useful in anyone's kitchen. Once I heat up the pan I can make individual omelets in a couple minutes so it is useful for a larger family. It has the weight, riveted handle, etc that you expect from a quality Calphalon product. A great price for a great pan - everyone needs at least one non-stick pan and this is a wonderful choice.

Accurate info for prospective buyer research
If you are considering the purchase of this pan or any of the caphalon products in this line. Totally disregard the Toledo vs China comments. They have no validity WHATSOEVER! I've purchased three of these pans (2 Toledo's, 1 China), and there is absolutely no difference in quality, thickness, or weight. I've also purchased the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 2-1/2-Quart Shallow Saucepans with Lids (1 Toledo, 1 China), the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 9-Inch, 2-Quart Chef's Skillet with Lid (2 China, 1 Toledo) and again,there is absolutely no difference in quality, thickness, or weight. There is a difference in thickness & weight, if you compare them to other caphalon product lines. However, that is not to say they are inferior. They have a nice thickness and weight, great heat retention and dispersment. Awesome for browning, making sauces, stir frying, etc. If you follow the instructions for use, you will have no problems with cleaning,food release, or sticking. I have read most of the reviews, and the bad ones can be attributed to two things: 1. We alway seem to think stuff is way better made in America ... not true in this particular case. Those who made statements about Toledo pans vs China pans, could not own pans from both plants. 2. Complaints about sticking, or cleaning, ...they didnt follow the SIMPLE instructions. For the price, brand, warranty, and quality, this is one of the better kitchen purchases. Oh...I'm all for buying "made in America"!

Excellent Pan
This pan has become one of the most useful pans I have. It is of heavy construction, heats evenly, and the non-stick surface is great. The sides are low, but it serves as a good griddle, is useful for breakfast, cooking 2 or 3 eggs easily or about 4 pieces of french toast.

Love the Q!
Husband & I recently bought a Q, after many years of happy grilling on a Weber charcoal grill. We'd been shopping for a gas grill for quite some time, but could not find a quality small grill. Most of the gas grills are just TOO BIG!

We're usually grilling just for the two of us and we wanted a gas grill for the convenience. The Q certainly fits the bill. It's great! I've cooked steaks, burgers, chicken, fish, pork chops, zucchini, onion slices -- well, you get the picture -- and they've all turned out perfectly. It gets plenty hot and heats very evenly. The side tables are a marvelous addition. I was concerned that they might get "icky" when you fold them into the Q, but they're designed so that only the tiny little points on the corners touch the grate.

The cart is a worthwhile addition. It could be a bit sturdier, but it works well enough and the Q fits snugly on top of it and sort of "locks down" under some plastic tabs. I bought a 5' LP adapter hose for $10 at the local sporting goods store (look in the camp stove aisle) so I can hook it up to a 20# tank. My only complaint is that the cart instructions say DO NOT store a tank on the cart, so the tank has to sit beside the Q. I'd rather be able to store the tank on the bottom rack of the cart, but I guess Weber has its reasons for instructing you not to do so.

All in all, a great purchase!

Another Great Weber Grill
This is my third Weber grill and first ever gas grill. I've been considering a gas grill for more convenience during the week, but didn't want one that took up much room. The Thermos and Coleman portable models that have come out in the last year interested me at first, but really just seemed to be outdoor grillpans/griddles. Then I saw the Q...

The Q is a good looking, stylish grill. Added to that are clever design features (folding trays, ultra-light composite shell), a high quality regulator, and a cast iron cooking grate that weighs more than the rest of the grill. Weber has also designed accessories that add to the functionality of the Q. Out of the box, assembly is a breeze. A useful Owner's Guide and a nice recipe card booklet are provided.

I've cooked one meal so far. The food cooked evenly across the whole surface. Once it was preheated, the medium gas setting was plenty to keep the heat up. I was very impressed with how well it cooked. Also, don't be fooled by the thought of a portable grill being small -- the Q can handle a lot of food. I had 4 sausages and 12 large shrimp on it and there was plenty of room for more.

As a longtime dedicated charcoal guy, I find that gas grilling just doesn't provide the same flavor. But the Q has won me over for quick, clean, and convenient weeknight cooking. The idea of being able to take it on the road adds to the value. It may even prove to be a handy double-burner for weekend barbecues. Thanks, Weber, for another great grill.

(Update: I've now grilled potato planks, chicken breast, pork chops, pizza, polenta, pinwheel skirt steaks, garlic bread, eggplant, mushrooms, and beef skewers. All have turned out pefectly. Can't say enough about the cooking grate and evenness of cooking across the entire surface.)

The best BBQ grill ever
If it's possible for a grill to revolutionize BBQ'ing as mankind knows it, then this is the grill. Seriously! I was always a diehard charcoal BBQ guy, and I've had weber grills in the past and have been very happy with them. But I recently moved to an apartment complex where I could not have a charcoal grill. When I saw the Weber Q grill, it was love at first sight. The design is both attractive yet practical. The purchase was a no brainer as I new I had to have a gas grill, eve though I still would have rather had a charcoal one for the sheer flavor. Well after getting this home and cooking a dozen burgers and dogs for myself and some friends I was completely overwhelmed. I had never tasted gas-grilled burgers which tasted so good. Furthermore, this thing heats up so fast, it's just amazing. In 3 minutes the grill is hot and ready to go, and that grill, solid cast iron, holds the heat and cooks beautifully. I've never been able to cook those cool grill marks on burgers and steaks before. Believe me, you will cook perfect burgers and steaks, with those grill marks, while retaining all the flavor and juiciness. This grill is awesome. Unfortunately I paid $30 more than what Amazon is charging because I bought it from a specialty BBQ store and I needed it that day, but trust me, this is the best grill you will ever buy.

Great little grill!
I echo the positive sentiments of all reviewers past. Goes together quickly. I also have the stand & the cover. Just used the grill for a 4th of July mini-cookout. Perfect for the 2 of us. I can easily see this grill handling enough food for many more people without a problem. Came up to cooking-temperature very fast and cooked our steak tips and burgers nice and evenly. It was a very windy day here as well and I had no problem at all with the grill staying lit. Never once did I lose the flame.
Very durable - I tipped it over while it was resting on the Weber Q cart. It rolled a few times on the lawn but was unscathed in the end. Not even a scratch. Needless to say I am very impressed with the quality of this product!
Like some others mentioned, I am using the 16oz propane cylinders after a minor tweak to the holder. No problems there either.
Even though we have more than enough room for a full-size grill, I like being able to store the grill in a small space. After using this one, I can see no reason to get a full-size grill.
I would strongly recommend this grill. It truly lives up to all the hype.

No space? No problem!
Living in a small top floor condo, I needed a grill that was small, yet worked well enough to cook a good family-sized meal. So after doing a little research on the internet, and by reading magazines; I settled on the Weber Q Portable Gas Grill.

This grill is very nice for a portable grill. It's got an attractive functional design which allows it to fold up when transporting it, or when its not in use. Although it doesn't generate as much heat as bigger grills, it does have enough power to cook about 5-7 large hamgburgers at once easily. The burner is basically a rectangular metal tube with tiny holes from which the flames emerge from. The burner itself rests below the grill about 7-8inches. This makes a hotspot that is about center, but slightly towards the cover's hinges. Around the center of the grill, there is ample space for indirect cooking, but if you plan on cooking a large pork roast, this still maybe a bit small. Still, for most other things like hamburgers, chicken legs, ribs, and hot dogs; the Weber Q works very well.

As far as taste goes, charcoal is still the best, but I would rather use a good gas grill like this one in favor of its easy clean up. The Weber Q's porcelain/cast iron grill can be easily removed and cleaned with soapy water and some good scrubbing. The drip pan is easily accessible as well as the bottom of the grill itself - where all the ash and drippings collect. This can be easily cleaned with some 409 cleaner and a scrubber. Typically it takes me about 15-20 minutes to clean my Weber Q after I finish using it. And best of all, I can do it all in my small kitchen, without having to go downstairs to the shared water hose.

The Weber Q uses 14.1 ounce Propane gas canisters. These last about 1.5 hours, so I would recommend at least 3 for a weekend bar-b-que. These cansisters can be easily screwed into place, and held by a fitted metal ring. I should point out that the Weber Q is made to work with the 14.1 ounce canisters because this metal ring is sized for them specifically. You could also buy an attachment that allows for the larger, more common propane tank to connect to it, but I think that would cut down on its portability. Also note that these canisters should not be disposed of like other trash. Typically, hardware stores like Orchard Supply are willing to dispose of them for you. In my case, I usually give them my used canisters when I go there to buy more.

Perhaps the only real downside to this grill is that it does not come with a stand. You would be forced to kneel, or sqaut to get to your grill as a result. Weber does make a stand, but it costs another $25-30. So if you want to save yourself from some back pain, definitely get the stand. Of course, this brings the price of the grill to almost $200. And that's somewhat expensive for a portable grill. Still, I do like the ease with which the Weber Q folds up and how portable it is (the stand folds up as well). Best buy for the money!
It was really lucky that our old processor went on the fritz at the same time Amazon was offering this as a special for $99! From doing some other shopping around, we expected to spend around $200. From the time it arrived, the processor has been used at least once daily. The use and care booklet provided more than enough info to get great results from the get go. The video got tossed, so cannot comment on its value. We highly recommend this, especially at the $99 price.

New to food processors
This is my first procesor,Which I bought after much thought. I have had it a week and am very pleased with the machine. I bought this one because it came with a video,its a good video, and reduced my learning curve. For under $100 I have all the blades I need too. I have ways to go before I use this machine instinctively, but i have been practicing on dog bisquits,and have a lot of happy dogs. This was a good buy.

Useful for a number of chores in the kitchen
While I usually chop on a plastic cutting board with a big chef's knife, the Cuisinart makes several tasks a lot easier. Chopping cooked or raw meat is one. If you are making hash from leftover corned beef, a short burst in this food processor is the easiest way to go. For mixing certain pastry doughs (pie or pate brisee) this is also a very good item to have, although you have to be careful to go slowly and not overprocess. The one thing the Cuisinart does is heat up the dough if you whirl it around too much, so you have to be careful. And if you put too heavy a bread dough in, using the plastic bread blade, you can heat the shaft up enough to jam the blade onto the central post and that's a big nuisance. However, with these cautions, the Cuisinart is hands-down my favorite food processor and for shredding, slicing thinly or chopping, pretty much the best kitchen appliance for the job.

Shop for bargains
I got a similar model, (must have been prior to this one)...It doesn't have a couple of the attachments and it has a smaller feed tube, but I can't imagine these things being worth the extra ... I really like how it works though, it is plenty powerful and can be controlled so that you can actually roughly chop things for salsa.

A "gadget" that really works
I bought the Cuisinart food processor last Christmas...as a gift to myself. My husband rolled his eyes when I told him I had bought this..he thought this was another gadget that would get used once and then disappear forever in a kitchen cabinet. the best cookware
This is not my first piece of Calphalon and it certainly will not be my last. I wasn't sure how large this saucier would be when I ordered it, and I still haven't found a place to store it in my limited cabinet space, but I have honestly had little need to store it since it works so well for most anything. It has a huge amount of surface area so it works well for searing and braising, but it is somewhat shallow so it is perfect for poaching eggs. Plus, this is an amazing price. Worth every penny.

What's not to like?
Like all Calphalon Commercial pieces, you are getting a high-performance, sturdily constructed tool that will make you a better cook.

This saucier is wider and shorter than a typical stockpot, ensuring maximum heat transfer from the burners. It's great for such dishes as making chicken stock -- You can brown the chicken on the stovetop, then deglaze with water, etc., for a darker stock. Great for making soups, cooking squash, chili, etc. (Consider topping with cheese and sticking under the broiler for a few minutes to brown -- it's over safe to 700!)
The combination of Calphalon's superior aluminum heat conduction and a wider top reduces liquids quickly, while cooks enjoy easy access into the pan -- something that can be tricky in a tall, narrow stockpot. Keep in mind that space can be an issue -- this stockpot can crowd out other pans on a small cooktop, and does take up an awful lot of space in your cupboard.

One caveat: As with all Calphalon, you can not put this in the dishwasher (even if you could fit it in). The machine will leach out the Calphalon coating, causing pits and discolorations and void the lifetime warranty to boot!

To clean, I find a little Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner and a Scotchguard green scrubber gets out anything without much fuss. Cleaning will be aided by proper deglazing. Also, you will find your food will stick less if the pan is preheated and if the food isn't ice cold when tossed in.

Wonderful! Calphalon does it again & again!
I purchased (from Amazon) the Calphalon Commercial Hard-Anodized 8 1/2 qt. Saucier pan last Christmas as a gift to myself! It arrived prior to Christmas, so I used it to cook a beef roast on Christmas day. We were in temporary housing and even with having to cook the roast on the stovetop (oven not working), we couldn't have asked for better results. Then after our move, I roasted a hen in this pan in the oven; the hen was so moist and tender - my husband raved over it - the first time in 20 years that he's actually enjoyed a roasted hen. On top of that, the gravy made in this pan is the best - deglazing is so easy! This is a really large pan, but the heat distribution is so superb, there was not a bit of a problem even cooking on a small stove top burner. I LOVE Calphalon, and the Commercial Hard Anodized is my favorite line. Every few weeks I'm looking for another piece to add to my collection and replace my old stainless cookware. You just can't go wrong with cookware of this quality, and I know it will be passed down to my daughter becasue it just doesn't wear out. What a value!

A great size
This is the most versatile pot in my collection. I use it for everything from making marinara sauce to roasting my Thanksgiving turkey (a 25 pounder). I love the fact that the handles are heat resistant (unless you use the pot in the oven, of course). Some reviewers have complained about the size of this pot and insufficient heating. I have a fairly small stovetop, so to sufficiently heat the pot before using it, I turn the (gas) burner on high and test the perimeter of the pot by sprinkling water on it to test the temperature. Then I turn the temperature down to cook. This method has worked for me for over a year.

have to give it 5 stars
This is the second peice of Calphalon commercial that is "NOT" nonstick that I have...Everything else is commercial nonstick, but there are times when you need this type of pot.
When you have to Braise a big roast for pot roast, or chicken etc.... I put a little olive oil in this and braise the roast, with vegies , wine etc, it makes the best french pot roast, with the stock to die for, then I finish it off in the oven for a couple of hours...yummmmm...

For some of you people that complained about this pot being too big for your stove top, cause you don't have the big burners, you can buy the Large Caphalon Defuser at William Sonoma, and you won't have that problem, it will cook everything on top of your stove even.
((Think the defuser is only made from calphalon for William Sonoma only))

If you soak this big pot you should not have any problem washing it, Just make sure you do not put this or the lid into the dishwasher, or you will ruin it and void out the warentee.

I think this is a must have, in your Calphalon Collection..I also payed less for this in amazon, but I hear that Calphalon is not going to be making there Hard-Anodized Cookware any longer, since they have come out with the Calphalon infused!!((call Calphalon and find out?))
Must say I love the Calphalon Commercial nonstick, but I do like the new handles better on the Calphalon infused.

Love it!
We did not have the privilege of seeing this item as a more expensive top of the line.As such, we have been delighted (pun?) with Amazon service, ease of assembly, and performance features of the Performer.The large cooking kettle satisfies all our needs.The charcoal ignition is swift and complete, and, more to my liking, this is the first charcoal grill we have owned that burns ALL the charcoal.The self cleaning feature sweeps the powdery ash into the container for disposal with no half burned, grease soaked briquets.A wuinner at this price.

Going on 10 years with my Performer!
The husband I bought this for has since left me and luckily I got the grill in the divorce (he has since bought another Performer). Because I use this grill so frequently (3 or 4 times a week from May through October), I've had to replace the wheels, the gas ignition, the fuel tank, and the bottom kettle which literally burned through from use.

Weber's customer support is EXCELLENT and their replacement parts are reasonable, ship quickly, and are easy to install.

For a fast and hot BBQ with all of that good charcoal taste without the hassle of lighter fluid or newspaper, this cannot be beat.

A true traditionalist's grill
I never owned one of the old style Performers so I can't speak to whether this is a step backwards or forwards but I don't have even one serious complaint about this grill.It has all of the convenience of a gas grill and all of the advantages of charcoal.The best part is realizing how much better CHARCOAL tastes when it's not started with lighter fluid!

The workspace is ample.The charcoal bin is convenient and stable.The ignitor lights on the first or second press (though mine is relatively new) and it feels very safe and stable.

It would be nice if the cooking grate were a little heavier.The steel grate just doesn't hold heat as well as cast iron.If there were an aftrermarket cast iron grate, I'd buy it.

By the way, assembly couldn't have been easier.I was amazed at how easy it was to build.

Breville JE95XL Two Speed Juice Fountain Plus
Bought it due to high recommendation. After using it for 6 days, the juicer quit working. I loved it while it was working and plan to return it for a replacement. It was everything it promised except for a power supply problem. Amazon is standing behind it and replacing it (I think). Note: Breville's customer service number on the back of the instructions is not a valid number so if it quits working after 30 days, and no one answers the other number provided, so don't count on the 1 year warranty.

POWERFUL!
This is a very fast and powerful juicer. It has two speeds which is great for soft and hard veggies and fruits.
Juices hard pears, for example, in a flash and gets ALL the juice. Only hard pulp remains. I've used others in the same class and price range but this is head and shoulders above them. And, easy to assemble and clean. Wonderful.

Breville JE95XL Dead On Arrival
I ordered the Breville Breville JE95XL with high hopes, but when I plugged it in it was dead. I read the owner's manual thinking there was something I missed. There wasn't, and it didn't work. The only bright star was Amazon. They were so nice when I called to explain the problem. I returned it for my money back. Thanks Amazon!

great juicer
this is by far the best juicer i have used. in our family, we had purchased a number of juicers from different manufacturers by my sisters and brothers. Omega, Waring, juiceman Jr. i liked this breville juicer best. Best smoker.....at any price!!
I've used several cheaper water smokers, offset units, gas grills, you name it. I've used them all to make bar-b-que, however, non of them has produced a better product then the Weber Smokey Mountain. This is the best smoker you can buy at any price. It's perfect for small families and large ones. You can easily prepare 6 to 10 racks of ribs at once. I've done 3 - 7lbs pork butts and a 12 lbs brisket at the same time.

This unit is made to Weber standard, so you know it's well built. Heavy enamel coating that will last a life-time. The effeciency of the cooker is unbelievable. I've done 15 hour cooks without adding any extra fuel.

This is the first smoker (of any type) that I've used that I didn't have to baby sit. Most smokers need almost constant attention in order to maintain proper temp. Not the Weber. It needs virtually no adjustments to keep a steady smoking temperature for hours and hours. You can easily do overnight cooks and sleep easy as the Weber does it's magic.

Weber Smoker
I purchased my Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker in August 2003 after talking about doing so for years and after looking at many competing models. I am not disappointed. From an engineering prespective it's design is simple and straightforward and it is extremely well built (just compare it to competing models and you will quickly see the difference). By reviewing the Thermometer installation procedures available at "virtualweberbullet" web site, adding an industrial grade thermometer by drilling a small hole in the cover was completed easily.

The results have been fantastic!! I have used the noted web site to learn about techniques to extend the cooking period without having to add charcoal and the rib recipe (The Best Ribs in the Universe) is out of this world! Smoked Turkey, smoked chicken, smoked salmon and smoked almonds have all been easy to prepare and the results outstanding.

I easily designed and constructed a side simple shelf (from two shelf brackets, a 10"x12" piece of oak, and a 1/8"x1" by 30" piece of steel straping available at Home Depot) that can be temporarily attached to the cooking section for use during any smoking session and easily removed so that you can then place the cover on the smoker for storage.

You will not be disappointed with the results of you efforts with this smoker!

The WSM (aka bullet) cooker is an excellent product for BBQ novice and master. Consistent temperature make this a great 1st smoker for anyone who wants to make their own real barbeque. Easy to clean, a joy to use.

An awesome cooker!
Got this as a present to replace my worn-out cheap-o Brinkman. I wouldn't have spent so much on myself, but am glad someone did! Fire stays lit, heat is slow and steady, with no intervention. The old one used to go out on me, heat up, down & all over. Not this puppy. The construction is heavy all the way. It really helps to be able to lift off that middle ring section when setting up the fire. There are web sites dedicated to this cooker, and for good reason. Some advice - buy the Weber chimney starter and rib rack along with this item. Also, the grill gloves are a nicety, but not a must-have. In the beginning, you can get your recipes off the internet. Fantastic Cookware Set at a Terrific Price
After comparing major cookware lines, All Clad, Emeril, Wolfgang Puck, Jamie Oliver online, as well as in major stores, Williams Sonoma, Macy's, Linen n Things, etc., I purchased Cuisinart's Chefs Classic set. Quality, features, and value could not be matched! The price (with free shipping), also included a kitchen tools set, a nice bonus.

Thanksgiving was my big "road test". The quality is outstanding! The mirror finish stainless kettles have a nice weight, well-fitting lids, classy sturdy riveted handles, flat bottoms that fit nicely on the burners, and stay-cool handles. They heat evenly. I do not like nonstick cookware, and by adding a little water to the pan after cooking, cleanup was a breeze. I put them all in the dishwasher and they come out sparkling.

I bought a chrome potrack and display them proudly. They indeed look and perform like very high-priced cookware. This was indeed a great purchase!

Any minor spotting or discloration from use, disappears like magic with the use of a small amount of Barkeeper's Friend powder.

I am so pleased with my set that I have already added to it; I purchased a 2qt. and 3qt. saucepan, and the 5 1/2 qt. saute pan. The saute pan is a work of art; especially good for those big pieces of meat on Holidays, and at $39.99, an unbelievable value. I plan on purchasing several as gifts.

It is also ovenproof to 550 degrees; something not found in the plastic-lid products.

Best cookware ever!
My husband and I purchased this cookwear after our wedding with some of our gift money. We considered Calphalon, Anolon, AllClad and Circulon as options, but we saw this one at a local kitchen supply store and bought it there. They were offering it for a good deal but we came home and found this even lower price at Amazon so we returned the set at the store and bought it online. We're glad we did! The value is outstanding. This cookwear cooks quickly and evenly, the handles stay nice and cool and it is a breeze to clean up. Just put the pan in the sink with some water, let it soak for a few minutes and it wipes clean right away. It's even easier to clean than my old nonstick! We also bought the 5 1/2 quart saute pan, a two-piece nonstick skillet set (still comes in handy for scrambling eggs and cooking ultra low-fat meals) and the four-piece utensil set came free with the 10-piece set...Cuisinart makes excellent products...you'd be silly not to treat yourself to quality cookwear.

I love my new cookware!
I have been in need of new cookware for a long time and through some research, including reviews here on Amazon, I decided this Cuisinart Chef's Classic Stainless 10-Piece set was the perfect choice. When this beautiful set of cookware arrived at my house, I was almost afraid to use it. The mirror finish was so gorgeous and I didn't want to get it dirty and risk it never looking good again! Of course, I got over it and used it right away.

Not only is this set beautiful, but also incredibly functional. The heat was dispersed evenly, making cooking so much nicer. The lids on this set are fantastic as well. As for clean up, they clean so easily and yes, still look gorgeous.

If you are looking for a great cookware set that holds up well on the stove, in the broiler and even in the freezer, this is the set for you. And the price is right!

This Baby Gets It Done
I've owned several other portable grills (Grill-2-Go, $20 propane grills), but this one is by far the best. You know it is something special when it arrives fully assembled except for attaching the lid.

The cast iron grilling surface makes those great searing marks and lets the food cook evenly. The regulator on this grill really allows you to adjust the size of the flame (unlike cheaper grills). The drip pan is also great and replacements can be purchased at local hardware stores.

We use this grill with our RV and it is the perfect size for our family of 3. I don't see how we could use the full size Weber Q --- the baby Q is more than large enough for us.

Amazing!!
I was thinking about purchasing the Q Grill but was hesitant because of the size. Then I saw the Baby Q "new" this year! All I can say is that it's an amazing grill! Well crafted, very very portable and cooking with it is amazing! The food does not taste like propane whatsoever. And it makes perffffect grill marks!!! Just fantastic!!! The built-in starter is a good added bonus for this gas grill!! Also, the grill is bigger then what it looks like online. You can easily cook two chicken on this thing!!

10 out of 10. Cast iron grate and overall design delivers the best grilling I have ever enjoyed. I am all thumbs when it comes to grilling, but the BabyQ has never disappointed. Cannot recommend more highly.

Cool Grill but ... What were they thinking!
I like the grill a lot, but WHY IN THE WORLD would they make it to use a 14.1 OZ propane conister??!! I have YET to find one of those canisters, so I will have to take the other peoples advice and bend the support rind to accomodate the 16.4 oz conisters. POOR product development by Weber!

P.S. - I DID finally find a 14.1 propane canister at Lowes. They are kept with the other fuels used for torches and welding equiptment in the hardware isle. ... Read more

This is the one to get
You're probalby thinking that there's no reason to update the 10-year-old Weber you've got in your back yard. Well, turns out Weber has made some smart improvements over the years-- the new "gold" model is worth the upgrade.

The ash-catcher is super, the one-touch vent system is a big improvement (no more knocking each vent with a trowel), the plastic handles stay cooler... you get the idea. Nothing dramatic, but good progress.

But here's the clincher: setting one of these up (takes about 20 minutes, even if you make a mistake or two) just makes you feel like you're in heaven. It's summer embodied. People rhapsodize about the new car small... well, fughettaboutit. The look of a shiny new grill that you've assembled yourself is about as good as it gets.

Highly recommended accessory: the charcoal companion. Put your lighter fluid (or your MatchLight) away and use this instead-- it works flawlessly, and it's better for the environment.

Great charcoal grill
I'm a big Weber fan-- I've used a Genesis gas grill for six years and a Smoky Mountain Cooker for two. Recently purchased the Kettle Gold. Great charcoal grill! The enclosed ash catcher is particularily useful if you grill with lump charcoal versus briquettes, like I do. It catches any sparks and small pieces of lump that drop through the charcoal grate. Hinged grate is also a big plus. I like to use the Weber charcoal holders to hold my lump when grilling steaks-- push them together in the center to sear (brings charcoal about 2 inches from meat) then push them to the outer edge for indirect cooking. I also added a thermometer to the lid to check and adjust cooking temps.

This baby would get five stars if Weber was still offering the cast iron grate upgrade for the kettles. It's been discontinued this year, but I hear some are still out there to be found. Even without cast iron, you can't go wrong with this as a charcoal grill, and being a Weber, it will last for years and you'll get great customer support if it is ever needed.

Simply put, this is the best grill I have ever had...
Before purchasing this grill, I was a die-hard gas guy. I figured that the convenience factor of quick starts, easy clean ups and not having to constantly buy charcoal would be a fair trade for the taste of good charcoal cooking. What this Weber grill provides though is super even heat, few flare-ups, awesome taste and super easy clean ups via the ash pan and a few kicks to the side to drop the ash through the vent holes...the best of both worlds! I still have my gas grill though (which will be used for the occasional hot dog), but for real cooking, nothing will replace my charcoal grill, except perhaps another charcoal grill. All I need now is the chimney starter to complete my set!

Wow Great Grill
I just got the Weber grill for my husband for Father's day and this grill is great. The food taste so good and he loves it. It's so easy to clean with the ash keeper on the bottom that I can actually get out of the kitchen and leave the cooking to him.(what a great bonus) I just ordered another one for my dad and I know he's gonna love it.
