4-0 out of 5 stars Just broke...but it took 5 years.
We received this screwpull as a gift 5 years ago and it just recently stopped pulling corks. A little strange, screw goes in and screw unscrews right out. I have an email into Le Creuset. They claim they have it warrantied for 10 years so I hope they will fix it.

I have never used the cheaper versions, but I know that you get what you pay for and this is definitely a well constructed unit.

I hope to follow up when I hear back from Le Creuset (Scewpull). ... Read more

This espresso/coffeemaker by Krups is one fine combination. On the coffee side it has a 24-hour programmable clock/timer that lets you set the current time and program the timer for "wake-up" coffee. With a 10-cup serving capacity the coffeemaker automatically shuts off after two hours for added safety. And for the impatient coffee lover, there's "stop 'n' serve," which allows you to remove the carafe at any time during the brewing cycle for up to 20 seconds, serve, then replace on warming plate for continued brewing. The removable filter holder swings away for convenient refills and easy cleanup. The double-wall construction keeps heat from escaping during brewing, preserving coffee's aroma and flavor. The espresso/cappuccino side has an advanced system that ensures quick heat-up time and a rotary steam knob that enables you to steam milk or dispense hot water for tea. The "perfect froth" attachment produces great looking, tasty froth. The 37-ounce removable water reservoir produces continuous cups of espresso, so it can please a crowd. --Jane DePaolo

Editor's note: This item may arrive with water inside from the manufacturer's pressure test. This is a normal occurrence and doesn't point to a problem with the machine. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Nice Well Made Machine
Well After looking at other combination machines I settled on this one. I was rather nervous after reading some of the reviews on this site, as I hadn't seem them before ordering it. But as usual you have to take alot of the dribble on here with a grain of salt. After setting it up and running a couple of pots through it (no the handle didnt fall off of the pot)I made two demi's of espresso, even with a french roast and a hasty regrind of the "drip" ground coffee I had in the freezer it was one of the most delicious "shots" in recent memory. A fine crema on top, very hot and full of flavor. Clever storage under the lid for sieves and scoop. Makes coffee like a charm as well. The auto start feature is of couse a necessity for any one who hates waiting for a pot to finish in the morning . I have not had any problems with the drip stop as I always let the full pot brew, yes I am a coffee snob. But I would suspect that it would last for a long time if you dont jam the pot into it. I would recommend this quality machine to anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice machine
I purchased the the Krups Caffe Centro because of its quality and price compared to other units. I was not disappointed with the styling and quality. It is very easy to use and makes excellent coffee/espresso. I was surpised by the major improvements in the quality of the drip coffee over previous Krups models. The esspresso, although it works very well, seems to deliver a bit less quantity than I had expected. After trying several different grinds and quantities of espresso, I still could only get about 1.5 oz with the single seive and around 3 oz with the double seive. Overall very nice, albeit a bit short in espresso.

4-0 out of 5 stars Simple and reliable
I recieved my Krups coffee/espresso maker as a gift more than 3.5 years ago and it has been absolutely great. I use it once a day to brew coffee and about once a month to make lattes. The parts are all easy to take apart to clean and easy to use. I love the fact that all the pieces (espresso filters and tablespoon) fit inside the lid so I never misplace them.

The reasons why I don't give this 5 stars are that there are no outwardly visible indicators for water levels on either the espresso or coffee sides and the spring to stop the coffee from dripping if the pot is removed needs a little fiddling to work these days.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easily makes wonderful espresso and coffee
I bought this machine elsewhere, without first reading the reviews here, and was startled to see so many negative marks. Although I have only owned it for about a month, it has functioned wonderfully. It makes delicious espresso -- much better than the espresso that I used to make with a bargin machine that I used to own. Further, the frother is easy to use and clean. The drip coffee is also very tasty.

My only complaints are minor: I have to pull the machine out away from the wall so the lid won't hit the kitchen cabinets when I open it. Also, I wish it had a meter showing how much water was in the espresso reservoir (I just top it off before I start the machine).

1-0 out of 5 stars If I could give it negative stars I would!!!
I got this as a Christmas gift and was so excited about it! After making coffee twice,(the pot and lid are very cheap quality) it no longer worked, so I took it to be repaired. The shop sent it to Krupps, 9 weeks later I finally got it back. The element was bad and had burnt out (nothing I did). I was just glad to have my EXPENSIVE maker back. The next morning I poured water in, and it came out the bottom of the machine!! It is now at Krupps service department again. It has been there for a month now, I have spoken to someone at Krupps, and still have no response. DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS MACHINE OR COMPANY!! It is the begining of April and have had 2 cups of coffee from this maker that I have owned for over 3 months. I have been using the same $25 "Mr. Coffee" maker for 10years now without one problem!! ... Read more

Never again subject guests to the back-breaking bar of the sofa bed--show them you care with the Aero Bed Deluxe Queen-Sized mattress. Easily inflated in about a minute (it plugs right into the wall), the Aero Bed Deluxe is stunningly comfortable. Your guests’ elbows will never sink to the wood floor when they get on the bed--the Aero Bed is firm when fully inflated, and firmness can be regulated by using the One Touch Comfort Control. And unlike other vinyl inflatable beds, the Aero Bed Deluxe features a 100% cotton lining on the top of the mattress. With 7-inch side gussets tall enough to fit standard queen-sized sheets, the mattress may fool guests into thinking you’ve pulled out the "real" bed. The Aero Bed Deluxe deflates as easily as it inflates and can be wrapped up and stored in its accompanying carry bag. --Rebecca A. Staffel ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars So far so good
I have been using my deluxe queen aero bed for the last 2 weeks straight while I help transition my baby into her own room & am thrilled with it. It is really comfortable & has held it's firmness incredibly well (I have only needed to give it one small burst of air in this time). Of course, I cannot comment on it's durability - but so far, I am really pleased with this product. Very, very comfortable & easy to use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Waste Your Money Continual Leaks
What a waste of money! I returned the first aerobed because of continual holes and leaks popping up in the coil areas and it is and ongoing problem with this newer one. I called the aerobed help number and they told me that my 30 days were up and would not refund or at least exchange it for a "3rd" bed. Actually they were quick to note that this model number was no longer covered by warranty anyway. Hmmmm...how convienient for them. All my patches are gone and today I am headed to K-Mart or who knows where to hopefully find some more patches that will hopefully work. I'd rate it a 0 if I could!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is my REGULAR bed!!
I purchased this Aero bed 2 years ago to replace an old waterbed. I wanted one of those "Select Comfort" beds, but just couldn't afford their steep price! I saw an Aero bed television ad, which suggested you could use this as an everyday bed. I found my solution! I keep the Aero bed on the old platform the waterbed used to sit on. I can adjust the comfort level of the bed. I have to tell you, I actually look forward to getting into my cozy bed at night! I did enhance it by adding a mattress pad with extra fill, but I love this bed!!

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY IT
Our AeroBed double is less than 4 years old, was used about a dozen times, and always kept in its bag in the house, except when we went camping.

We tried to use it the other day and found that it was separating where the "coils" are attached to the front and back. We no sooner fixed one leak, with a special repair glue, than another one sprang up. The repairs held, but all the seams at the coils seem to be undoing, one after the other.

My girlfriend bought the twin less than a year ago. She used hers as a bed. Hers is doing the same thing. She tried twice to repair hers with the repair kit that comes with the bed, but to no avail.

Aero Bed told us that we MUST have had ours exposed to extreme temperatures. Well, we all live in mild coastal CA, so we don't get temperature extremes like other places do.

They offer a limited one year warranty - not much for an item that can cost up to about $300, depending on the size and style.

Yes, it was comfortable while it stayed inflated. It isn't very comfortable now. This is a poor quality air mattress.

We ended up sleeping on our Coleman queen inflatable. My girlfriend was stuck on her couch. Our Coleman is the same design, about the same age and seems to be just fine. ... Read more

The Krups Open Master can opener answers the prayers of those cooks who are sick of struggling with manual can openers. This can opener has a patented bladeless design that uncrimps can lids, rather than cutting them out, so it doesn't leave sharp edges to cut fingers. Also, because the opener doesn't cut into the lid of the can, the opener's blades won't get gummed up and contaminated with old food that has stuck to the cutting edge. The large handle is easy to grip, and the on-off button has raised bumps so that your thumb won't slip. --Julija Gelazis ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great experience with this opener
I received this can opener as a gift almost 9 years ago. Absolutely loved it from the first use - no sharp edges to worry about and rarely needs to be cleaned. Also, no flakes of metal and can label left on the counter. Now, over 8,000 cans of cat food later (and few human food cans), its starting to need 2 turns around the lid to unseal properly. I was afraid they didn't make it anymore but was happy to find it on Amazon.com. Not sure why this technology hasn't totally replaced the traditional electric can opener.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ready to buy my third one.........won't buy anything else!
Love this can opener, after using others for years, felt like I found the only one for me! Am in the process of looking for the best price on my third one.........Just used the other two till they finally gave out after many years!!!No other one will do! Wish I could find a great deal on a dozen, know I could sell them to the neighbors!

1-0 out of 5 stars Like watching a roulette wheel
Loved this can opener when new. After 18 months, round and round it goes. Place your bets folks...how many revolutions will it take to open the can? Numerous revolutions leaves the can's edge ragged with the risk that metal shards might drop into the food. A very expensive lesson in poor design.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good little machine!
We have had the Krups 404 for maybe 3 years now and it has been a wonderful addition to our kitchen. It is so much of an improvement over traditional can openers. The fact that no shavings get into the can that you are opening is a tremendous advantage. Also no sharp lids to cut your hand or fingers with. Since there are so many variations of cans to be opened we find an occasional one that needs a little encouragement (not at all unlike the previous top cutter one we had)and we use the hand opener once in awhile. Mostly because it probably needed more cleaning of the cutting wheels, which I finally undertook to do. It was full of metal shavings which were clogging up the mechanism and it can only get worse. I used a chemical agent to spray and remove them. It worked fabulously. Anything that is used to do this procedure is done at your own risk. Some of those things can be very hazardous such as pressure spray cleaners. The cost to replace the item may be a better option than useing chemicals. The unit is sealed for the most part and not user friendly to take apart. It would be nice to have a unitized cutter wheel assembly to remove and clean. Overall this little opener is a real plus for my wife and myself. She has used it a LOT!! She does NOT want to go back to the old top cutters.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money...
This piece of junk started making ominous noises after opening fewer than 50 cans. Before 100 cans were opened it gave out completely. I'm going back to my old, reliable B&D electric opener that hangs beneath the kitchen cabinets. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

High tech from tip to handle, Global knives from Japan created a sensation when they burst onto the world's culinary stage as an alternative to traditional European-style cutlery. Blades are made of hard molybdenum/vanadium stainless steel and "face-ground" with a long taper rather than a short bevel so edges remain sharp longer than high-carbon stainless-steel knives. Edges are ground razor-sharp at a more acute angle than traditional European-style knives. Although Global also makes a "heavyweight" line, its original knives--of which the three knives in this set are examples--have thinner blades and are lighter than traditional knives. Balance is achieved by injecting a precise amount of sand for a particular blade style into a hollow handle. To ensure balance is continuous, the sand flows inside the handle as a blade is maneuvered. A finger notch between blade and handle provides safety. Stainless-steel handles are molded to fit the hand and dimpled to resist slipping. Smaller around than many European-style handles, they're easy for small-handed cooks to grasp and seamless for sanitation.

These three knives--an 8-inch chef's knife, a 5-1/2-inch cook's knife, and a 4-inch paring knife--equip a cook to perform most basic kitchen tasks. The two smaller knives' wedge-shaped handles are particularly well engineered for grasping securely with a relaxed hand. Global recommends using a ceramic sharpener or a diamond steel instead of a metal sharpening steel for its knives, supplemented by a synthetic whetstone, a ceramic whetstone, or a Shinkansen sharpener. Global also makes a Sharpening Guide Rail so blades can be honed on a whetstone at the proper angle. Global knives should be hand washed to protect edges. They carry a lifetime warranty against defects and breakage. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Keen, Klever, Kwick, Kitchen Ka-nives - GO GLOBAL!!!
I recently purchased a whole set of these knives after doing MUCH research on various
brands, materials they are made of, and general sturdiness and price. My favorite is the Japanese Chefs Knife (ALSO CALLED SANTOKU) But I also love these three selections. If you are looking at purchasing ONLY ONE global knife I recommend the Santoku, but if you are looking at two, get this set! It is a STEAL!

YES, Global cutlery is EXPENSIVE! But compared to Wustof or Henkels, these knives
outshine, outsparkle, and outperform them by a longshot. Comparable in price with Wustof
and Henkels, for just a bit more money you can own the GOOD STUFF! An acquaintence of mine owns an upscale restaurant and he just replaced ALL of his Wustof knives in the kitchen to these GLOBAL GREATS!

Global knives are made of one, solid, sturdy, but amazingly light piece of steel. Very
balanced also! No worrying about wood or plastic handles, tangs or rivets here, nor
cleaning! They clean up like a breeze.

I love my knives and I know they will last me a lifetime. If they break Global has a lifetime guarantee!

Remember, my friends... You get what
you pay for and these beautiful and professional knives are worth their weight in gold! SO... Go Global, my gourmet gastronomical babies!

5-0 out of 5 stars Looking for a good home for my old Wusthofs
The only thing better than the way the Global knives cut is the way they look. I have been a diehard user of Wusthof Trident Gran Prix knives, but since I bought this set, I have stuck my Wusthofs in the drawer.

The edge on the blades is phenomonal, and I have yet to use the ceramic stone I got with this set. I have decided to replace all of my old knives over the next few months.

4-0 out of 5 stars Cool, light, high-quality but not so ergonomic
The look is stunning, the blade quality is very high and the weight is much lighter than other knives. But the handle is not so ergonomic as some other knives (I like the twin select from Henckels) and gets quickly uncomfortably warm when I use it. I would recommend this knife to women due to its lightness and, of course, to design-lovers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Global Knives
We already had a Global Chef Knife when we got this 3 piece set last Christmas. We tried Global after buying a dissappointing Henkel. We are now diehard Global fans. When I visit people's homes and they have dull knives, I am further in love with my Global. It makes such a difference to have a good knife when cooking! Pay bon marche bon!

5-0 out of 5 stars We look for any excuse to use them
This may be a repeat of what you have already read, but these are by far the best knives that I have ever used. My wife and I started out with a Sabatier starter set (Chefstar), and the set was great, especially for the price. About a year later we got this set as a gift, and we literally look for reasons to cut food. These knives, along with an awesome set of cookware, are a wonderful cattleprod to direct anyone into cooking more at home.
Cutting meat is like passing the blade through water.
You know that the construction is solid. There are no joints in the knife at all.
Finally, the design of the knives goes quite well if you use a lot of stainless steel in your kitchen.
Just to beat a dead horse, these knives are the closest to the Platonic ideal of anything we own. ... Read more
