Amazon.com Review

Early Adopters Pick: October 2002. The world’s only true cyclonic vacuum, generating 100,000 g of centrifugal force and pulling dirt into an indestructible canister made from the same material used for crash helmets.

Named for both its power and its ruthless approach to pet hair problems, the Dyson DC07 Animal upright is a piece of engineering wizardry designed by James Dyson, the inventor of cyclonic vacuums. A hit in Europe for years, Dyson vacuums are new to the American market. At the center of the machine's innovation is the Cyclone air path design, an eight-section chamber that creates powerful, consistent suction. The conical chambers generate 100,000 g of centrifugal force, pushing dust and dirt out of the airflow into the vacuum's 1-gallon collection cup. With no bag to clog, the vacuum's 270 air watts of suction remain steady. The large, transparent collection cup is easy to check and empties tidily--pop it off, hold it over a trash bin, and pull the trigger to release dirt without having to touch it. The DC07 also comes equipped with a multipart filtration system to improve overall air quality in the home. The HEPA filter, measuring 412 square inches in surface area, traps microscopic particulates and allergens. Expertly built, the filter is designed to last the lifetime of the machine.

Suitable for bare floors and carpets, the Dyson upright features a 14-inch cleaning path and edge-cleaning bristles. A foot pedal switches off the brush roll for bare floors, and the nozzle automatically adjusts for various carpet heights. For above-floor cleaning, the vacuum also comes with a cleverly stowed, 17-foot quick-release hose with a reversible extension-wand handle. Onboard accessories include a crevice tool, a dusting brush, an upholstery attachment, and the Animal turbo tool. Designed for lint and stubborn pet hair, the turbo tool features an air-powered brush bar to extract hair from furniture, stairs, pet beds, cars, and other tight spaces.

Made from the same material used in crash helmets, the vacuum is unquestionably durable. Plus, the design only puts 4 pounds of weight on the handle, so pushing and turning is easy. This model comes with a 35-foot power cord and a limited two-year household warranty. It also includes a carpet care kit--a canister of Groom Zorb odor-absorbent carpet cleaning powder and a bottle of Dyzolv spray for spills and stains. --Emily Bedard ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An outstanding Vacuum Cleaner!
Let me begin by saying that I have three dogs and two cats. Pet hair is the biggest cleaning challenge in our house.

After convincing my wife to discontinue our professional cleaning service, due to increasing costs, I volunteered to take the cleaning duties related to the floors and the furniture. My wife foolishly took on the kitchen, bathrooms, and dusting. What my wife didn't know was that I had been reading up on the Dyson "Animal".

The "Animal" arrived just two days after our last professional cleaning. I immediately vacuumed the entire house and was absolutely amazed at how much pet hair and dirt I pulled out of the carpets and off our hardwood floors. Our house has never been so absent of pet hair. Even my pets were beside themselves. My wife was thoroughly impressed. She said that the house looked and smelled cleaner than ever!

The "Animal" is a total cleaning machine. It easily attacked hardwood floors, carpets, curtains, furniture, and stairs. It's the best cleaning machine I have ever used. Adding a sixth animal to our family was the best thing I ever did!

If you have pets and need a high powered cleaning machine, get the "Animal"! It's worth the money! I donated my old cleaning machines to our YMCA.

5-0 out of 5 stars The purple monster lives up to it's name! "The Animal"
I first heard about Dyson from a airline magazine during a recent business trip. The article was very interesting. A few days later, my wife indicated that we needed a new vacuum and I started telling her about the Dyson.

At first, the price seems high, relative to other cleaners. We also have two yellow labs that shed through out the year. It was down to the dogs or me. Dog hair on the rugs, hair on the furniture, hair everywhere. The cleaner arrived in 13 days after it was ordered. It took about ten minutes to put the Animal together. My daughter and I followed the directions.

We first tried the vacuum in the upright position in our living room, which had been vacuumed about four days earlier. The machine picked up so much dog hair and dust that it filled up the canister about half way. We both were very surprised. We then tried the hair attachment on the furniture. It took some effort but the dog hair was removed. Our next challenge was the steps going up stairs. The wand attachment worked as advertised. We got to the top, while the Animal stayed at the landing. The design of the hose attachment is very clever. We have not tried the ZORB cleaner or the spot remover at this point. These items come with Purple Animal.

The furniture attachment and the hard surface attachment are loose items and do not attach directly to the animal when not in use. The 3 smaller attachments attach directly to the Animal.

This device is very well designed. The construction is very good. The appearance is a bit different but you get use to it quickly. The animal is easy to use, and very easy to clean. There are no bags and no mess to deal with.

Overall, this is a very good machine and the best vacuum that we have ever owned. Yes, it was worth the cost. And yes, the dogs can stay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a vacuum that can handle MY life!
With four kids, a yellow lab, and a backyard that was recently torn up, the dirt in my house was driving me crazy! I had always bought Hoover Wind Tunnels. When our last one started gasping for life after about a year and a half, I thought that maybe I should consider a commercial vacuum. I started researching vacuums and kept coming up with Dyson.

Five hundred bucks for a vacuum might seem a bit ridiculous, but I've spend over three hundred on various Hoovers that have lasted only two years or so (I have to vacuum daily!), I figured if I get four years out of this, I'll come out ahead.

Basically, I can't tell you anything that you haven't read already concerning this vacuum, only that the reviewers who said it didn't have suction should try plugging it in next time!

It's easy to handle, sucks dirt other vacuums happily leave behind, is truly gratitifying to dump (you'll see), and works as well on hardwood floors as it does on area rugs. The cord and hose are far reaching and it is very stable when using the attachments or doing the stairs. The only negative thing that I can say about this vacuum is that taking the attachment piece out of the hose is kind of a pain. I used to use the attachments as I needed them. Now I use them last so I don't need to keep putting the wand back into the hose over and over.

One review mentioned that the Dyson eats the fringe off of area rugs. This is not a problem if you switch to the hard floors settings before trying to vacuum the fringe. One thing I didn't like about my old Hoover is that the beater brush didn't stop when you used the attachments. I put a hole in my floor when I caused my Hoover to tilt while using the attachments because the friction beater brush wore a hole through the floor. The Dyson's brush stops, so there's no danger of this.

I also like the fact I'm not going to be nickeled and dimed on bags and filters. As an allergy sufferer, I'm glad that the filter is easy to wash and reuse as often as needed. When I see what the Dyson picks up on a daily basis, I can't help but think that I've staved off at least one allergy attack in our household every time I use it.

If you're in the market for a vacuum, earmark some of your tax refund, or just decide to spurge, and get the Dyson. I did, and I don't have any regrets, just really clean floors.

5-0 out of 5 stars It just sucks in the BEST WAY!!!
I purchased my Dyson last Saturday, and I have yet to put the thing away. It's just the best. Easy to put together, easy to use, and it has suction like there is no tomorrow. My condo has hardwood floors, area rugs, and two cats. The floors and rugs have never been so clean. The first time I used it, I got enough cat hair out of the rugs for a new cat! I've also noticed that there has been much less sniffling and sneazing from my husband, who is allergic to dust mites. This baby is worth every penny, and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Vacuum out there!
I bought this vacuum today after a friend told me about it. We have a dog that sheds like crazy and my son is 7 months old and crawling. Needless to say, I needed something that would get rid of the hair! We have hardwood floors throughout our entire house and this vacuum picked up everything! It was so much easier than sweeping the floors with a broom and so much more was picked up! I would recommend this vacuum to anybody that has pets of any sort that shed. It's well worth the money! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Works well, but mine was made in China - so-so workmanship.
I bought this pan based on the performance and construction of other Calphalon cookware I've purchased. However, as soon as I unpacked this one, it was apparent that the workmanship and finish was significantly below my other Calphalon pans. The pan rim was unevenly ground - the lid fits flat, but looks uneven when the lid is removed. The polished lid has numerous tiny pits and marks not found on my U.S. made Calphalon. I suppose this is one of the trade-offs for the great price, although if I were Calphalon, I'd market the China-made line under a different name if they can't maintain the quality standards of the Ohio made line.

I had previously purchased the 9" Commercial Nonstick Collector's Edition Everyday Pan with Lid from Amazon, which was made in the Ohio, and was very impressed with the contruction and finish. (It also works very well, but is a bit tippy on burners when empty.)

Cooking quality is fine so far. I hope the nonstick finish will prove as durable as the U.S. made pans.

The size, overall appearance, and dual loop handles allows this pan to work well as a serving piece on the table for casual dining.

5-0 out of 5 stars Calphalon, my Calphalon
This was my second Calphalon purchase and the first non-stick. I'm not a big fan of non-stick, but this is great. Use it almost everyday. We have a Vegetarian Communist in our house and sometimes it is necessary to cook the same thing in two different pans...this comes in really handy when I want to leave something cooking while I concentrate on real food. Never had anything stick to this or burn, looks great too, have actually brought it to the table and served from it. Makes a great frittata, but be careful if you use it in the oven, not for use under the broiler. The handles get VERY hot. I knew that when I bought it, but just last night I picked it up without a pot holder and have the blisters to prove it. I can't believe I went all these years cooking without Calphalon, it's the best. Cleans up without any effort, a swish of the sponge and it's clean, or you could let the cat lick it out, nothing sticks to it. If you want what you're cooking to brown, this is not the pan to use, grab the hard-anodized for browning to perfection. Ciao!

4-0 out of 5 stars IT DON'T GET NO BETTER THAN THIS, BUBBA!
Got this little Calphalon pan about two months ago because of its price. Have been impressed with it ever since! Heats fast and evenly. Can cook on much lower temps than I do with my commercial stainless steel cookware. This "three-layer" nonstick coating IS FAR SUPERIOR TO CALPHALON'S TWO-LAYER NONSTICK USED ON SOME OF ITS OTHER PRODUCT LINES! Downside: a) Thought it would be made in Toledo, OH, as are other Calphalon Commercial pans, but was made in China; b) Is on the smallish side and its rounded sides make spillage and overflow a problem if you fill it much more than half-capacity with something that requires stirring--don't expect to cook servings for more than two or three in it; c) Lid and handles do get hot, so have to be careful. But overall, given its price and quality--not to mention its pleasing aesthetics--it is a "must have" pan for every kitchen! (Curiously, despite Calphalon describing this pan as its "commercial" line, the lifetime warranty notes that it does not apply if "used in commercial establishments"!)

5-0 out of 5 stars Made in the USA...
I felt that I needed to write a review to correct another reviewer. One review says that Calphalon no longer seems to making their cookware in the United States, however this is untrue. The Calphalon Commercial Nonstick line is made right here in the good old USA. This is the line I own, and I LOVE it. I will never puchase anything else. Calphalon does make a (much) cheaper line of products that they sell in stores like Target that you can get for about a third the cost of the Calphalon Commercial Non-stick line, and I believe that those are made overseas. I have owned a cheap set of Calphalon from Target, and I must say, it was bad cookware. But the high quality stuff is well worth the cost. Calphalon Commercial Non-stick is the best- it really is nonstick, the clean up is a breeze, and the coating doesn't come off after heavy usage. They also have a lifetime guarantee, so if you happen to get a piece that missed quality control, they will replace it. I must say that if you enjoy cooking, this is the set for you. I consider the higher cost an investment, because before I bought this cookware, I would go through the cheaper cookware pretty fast. This line will last you a lifetime, and Calphalon will be the last brand of cookware you will ever own.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great quality, too small
I have a number of the commercial nonstick pans. If you're patient you can assemble a good set when the individual pans become discounted. This pan is the same as the rest - great quality and great looks. It cooks and cleans easily. My only complaint is that it is too small to be used very often. I have the larger version as well and I use it all the time. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars singer 5050 sewing machines
when i first saw this machine i thought it to be the best in its price range. it offered lots of features like the four step button hole , 52 stitich functions etc. the day i brought home my first new machine , the bobbin case was loose and so the machine wasn't working. i returned it and exchanged it for another one and this time the stitch selector function wasn't working..i was really dissappointed with both the experiences.i do not recommend buying this machine without first checking if all the functions are working..i think it would be best to buy refurbished ones as they are repaired and factory tested and seem to be doing well. i bought my machine from walmart and they exchanged it without any fuss and i was glad i bought it there.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Mid-Range Sewing Machine
The Singer 5050 provides an excellent mid-range sewing machine at a low-end price.

Although not automatically threading like many top-of-the-line machines, the 5050 is incredibly easy to thread--moreso than even the underpowered little handheld stitchers advertised on TV. The thread tension and stitch widths are easily adjustable, providing for accurate, strong seams that don't snag or snap the thread during sewing.

The 5050 includes 50 different stitch functions (made from 32 stitches), can do 4-step buttonholes with ease, and can be used to do darning, embroidery, and all manner of decorative stitches.

Accessories included are a second pattern module (for an alternate 25 stitch functions), zipper, button, blindstitch, and special-purpose presser feet, an assortment of needles, a friction-free plate for embroidery, and spare bobbins. The feet simply snap on and off for quick changes.

The machine also can do free-arm sewing for easy cuff and hem finishes, is controlled electronically via a foot switch for excellent speed control, and is all-around one of the most excellent machines in its price range. ... Read more

Equipped with a UV germicidal light to help kill airborne microorganisms and a three-speed fan to continuously circulate air through two filters, this portable air purifier removes smoke, pollen, dust, animal dander, dust mites, molds, bacteria, viruses, and odors. Helpful for asthmatics, allergy sufferers, and cold/flu patients, the purifier contains a true HEPA filter that is at least 99.97 percent effective at trapping tiny particles; a prefilter reduces odors. A digital readout displays air quality (good, fair, or poor), and the fan can be set to automatically adjust speed according to air-quality needs. Digital indicators show when filters need replacing. The purifier measures 19-1/2 by 14 by 8-1/4 inches and is recommended for rooms up to 350 square feet. Filter replacement is simple: open front, remove prefilter and/or HEPA filter, position new filter(s), and close. The purifier carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Quiter than Blueair
I have severe asthma and have been VERY pleased with the 04163 Hamilton Beach Air Purifier. I'm not sure what planet the negative reveiwers are from but I investigated all the options regardless of price. I went by Sears and looked at the Kenmore. The reviewer who liked it must work for Sears because it isn't even in the same ballpark as the Hamilton Beach. I briefly bought and returned a BlueAir which cost twice as much and is supposed to be the quietest. Instead it has an irritating high pitched whine that oscillates and would be better utilized as a torture device. The Hamilton Beach, on the other hand, is not only quiet, but the white noise it makes is actually soporific. I prefer to sleep with it on and it runs 24/7. I use to have a constant problem with mold in my master bathroom, but the Ultraviolet light on the Hamilton Beach has kept it from returning. The other day I chased my golden retriever into the bedroom with ear cleaner and to my surprise the automatic fan smelled it, and dealt with it, turning the fan on automatically to a higher setting briefly. I couldn't even smell it myself. To describe it's air cleaing capability, I will just end by saying this, the reason I am on this site is I am getting ready to buy a second Hamilton Beach for my office.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good, For Its Price and Intended Purpose
Haven't had it for very long, just a couple of months, but I like it. I had a Honeywell room unit that was okay, but I had no idea how well it was working. With the HB, the air sensor gives you some idea of how well it's working. When first hooked up, the HB showed that the Honeywell was doing a good job of cleaning. At first, I thought maybe I should have just stayed with the Honeywell. I had initially stayed away from using the UV light, after reading that it didn't do anything. Wrong. When I finally switched on the UV light, a lot of my nighttime nasal congestion disappeared. That feature, plus the sensor, makes this model a 4- rather than 3-star product. (Keep in mind tthat this is a one-room unit and not intended for people with severe allergies.)

Seems to have a small but noticeable effect on keeping dust down.

Whisper Quiet ... isn't. But it's no louder than the Honeywell. I also selected Super Saver shipping, saved some money, and got it in five business days. If this unit lasts another year without problems, I'll buy another for another room in my house.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works great but noisy
I have been using this product for a year now with great results. It really does seem to clean the air and has improved my allergies. The filters are extremely easy to replace when necessary. My only complaint is that it is noisy, too noisy for me to use when I am sleeping.

5-0 out of 5 stars Work great
My room used to be very dusty but since I purchased this product, the room is much cleaner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Impressed
It has been 3 months since I received the air purifier, one word, WOW.

For over 3 years, I have suffered from postnasal drip and congestion every morning due to minor dust allergies. I have noticed this has progressively gotten worse over this period. In an effort to remedy this situation, I was more diligent in dusting and cleaning my apartment and I visited my doctor a few times over the past few years. I was prescribed allergy pills and steroids in an effort to cure me, nothing worked.

I finally decided to buy an air purifier as general means of breathing cleaner air. I selected this one based on the reviews and comments others reported and was not disappointed. Literally, the first night I used the purifier, it cured my postnasal drip problem. The morning after, my nasal passage was clear and dry. I could breathe!!! Now every night before bed, I turn on my purifier and every morning now, I wake up clear and congestion free. I have even noticed when I am away from my purifier/apartment, the congestion returns.

Now to review the product itself... I must say the gadget-lover in me, opted for the UV light and digital readout of this particular model. Honestly, I probably could have done without the UV light and digital readout. There have been nights where I forgot to turn on the UV light and still woke up fine, perhaps it may be more effective in the winter when there are more germs flying around. The only semi-annoying thing is the device does not remember the UV setting when you turn it off. With the digital readout, I think I could have done without it. As I said, I love gadgets and features like this. However, it does work though. For example, when I open my window, it quickly determines the air is much dirtier and reacts accordingly. How smart!!!

People have noted that the purifier is very noisy. I think this is a purely subjective matter. I live in NYC on a ninth floor apartment off the East River on the FDR Drive. I am accustom to a certain amount of noise. I am subject to varying levels of car and wind noise 24/7. Concerning the purifier, I typically run it at low speed each night (I only run it at night). It is positioned at the foot of my bed. IMHO, using the lowest speed is no noisier than running an air conditioner at low speed. After a couple nights, it became white noise and is hardly noticeable to me now.

As far as size goes, I was a bit surprised how large it is but considering the size of the HEPA filter. It is not that bad in comparison. I am sure the larger size helps in better coverage of a large sized room.

The only negative I could come up with is the price (I paid about $140) but, given my success with the purifier, I cannot really claim this as a real fault. After 3 months, I am still on the original HEPA filter. The carbon filter I actually rinsed off the dust with some running water a couple times. It is a bit of a messy process but seems effective. I recently ran the built-in test on the filters and it passed. The replacement HEPA filter is a bit pricey; I think it should cost a lot less. They run about $40 to $50 each while the replacement carbon filters run three for $10.

Overall, I am very, very, very happy with my purchase. The money I paid was worth it. I can breathe!!! However, if can settle for the smaller size and/or without the digital readout, just get a lower-end model which sells for much less. The most important feature is the HEPA filter. ... Read more

Chili for a soccer team, cassoulet for a family reunion, curried chicken for a block party--all these are well within the pan's capacity. Though it's not nonstick, like some Calphalon cookware, the matte-finish pan is anodized for stick-resistance as well as hardness. Metal utensils won't harm the surface. Textured cast-stainless-steel handles resist heating on the stovetop and go safely into the oven. Made of heavy-gauge aluminum, the pan heats evenly and quickly with no hot spots or warping and carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A wonderful pot
To brew up a large pot of home made soup, chili, a pot roast with brown potatoes (Dan Quale where are you?)and carrots - you just won't find a better large pot. Brown your meat and onions on the stove top add some water, and pop into the oven until the meat is tender, add veggies and continue to cook at 300~325, covered, for the best roast you'll find anywhere. The down side is the price, here. You can find this pot at less than half the price as listed here if you do a bit of searching. As great as they usually are here, they do get a bit pricy from time to time so it is worth shopping around to find the best deal. But you will not go wrong with this pot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great pan
I recently purchased this pan and have used it on several occasions, and each time the casserole has proven an invaluable buy. It's great for stews, braised dishes (like lamb shanks or osso bucco) and even plain ol' pasta. Cleaning up hasn't been much of a hassle, either, despite what some folks say about the difficulty of keeping Calphalon Hard Anodized stuff clean.

It's a great multi-purpose pan...a bit on the expensive side, but a tremendous investment for the home cook.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Size for Soups and Stews
Calphalon's new Commercial Hard-Anodized line of cookware is great! I love the stainless steel handles which, unlike the cast aluminum handles of their regular hard-anodized line, stay much cooler to the touch. Also the lids on this line of cookware are domed, which create a tighter seal that reduces evaporation, so you don't have to add liquid during cooking. The handle on the lid is also stainless steel, and the shape has been redesigned to allow for easier lifting. These pans can also be used in the oven.

The Commercial Hard-Anodized 7-Quart Chef's Casserole with Lid is perfect for making a large batch of split pea, lentil, or chicken soup; Irish stew; and Coq au Vin. It's easy to braise your meat first at a medium-high heat, and then add broth or stock when you turn the heat down to a simmer.

For a tomato-based pasta sauce or anything acidic, I still like to use my Le Creuset pots and pans. Also, I don't put any of the Calphalon pots or pans in the dishwasher. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Breadman Fan
I love my Breadman Ultimate. It makes perfect, fluffy 100% whole wheat bread from the recipe in the book -- so perfect that even people who don't like whole wheat bread like this. This is no small thing, as whole grain bread (the only kind I want to eat) tends to be dense and sometimes a chore to eat. I like to make my own bread so that I know what is in it and so I can eat healthier. I love the dispenser for seeds, as I don't want to hang around and try not to miss the beep. I like that I can choose the loaf size, so when I have company I can make a larger loaf, instead of having to make two, and can make smaller loaves the rest of the itme so the bread is always fresh. I read some other reviews that say they have had problems with the bread pan and with ambient temperatures affecting the bread. All I can say is I have had none of those. I have had the machine for about three years and lived in a drafty house on the Canadian border and in a tight modern apartment in Michigan and have used it weekly for much of that time and see no problems. It is a little workhorse that gives consistent results. I recommned this machine highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great bread machine!
I've had this bread machine for about a year and a half. It really does a nice job and is quite easy to use. We use it fairly often, especially with colder weather coming on, whenever a hot, fresh loaf of bread is desired! We've tried several of the recipes in the instruction manual and have enjoyed them all. I noticed one reviewer complained about not being able to order replacement parts. I accidentally tossed my kneading paddle in the trash and was able to quickly reorder one using the number in the manual for $8. The customer service rep was very kind and helpful. I'm planning on buying one of these machines for my parents for Christmas this year and would recommend the Breadman to anyone who is looking for a reasonably priced, quality machine.

1-0 out of 5 stars 3 machines later and still NO bread
Imagine a home with two accomplished cooks. Imagine the convenience of a bread maker. Imagine eight months and three replacement products later. Imagine a Catch-22 between the manufacturer (Salton) and Amazon denying responsibility to refund our money. Imagine our outrage. Imagine the smell of warm rosemary wheat bread with English butter on a lazy Sunday morning. Well, keep imagining... we've got the third in a series of defunct Salton Breadman Ultimate setting on our kitchen counter, useless to us as anything but a paperweight. Spend your $99 USD on cooking classes and enjoy the comfort that comes from proofing your own dough.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great bread machine!
Breadman really makes a great product. I should know since this is the third Breadman I've had. The first two are still in use and being enjoyed by their new owners. I used each machine a lot (1 or more loaves a week for years) but eventually decided to step up to a newer model. This new one is really great.
I don't think the product description really does this product justice. For me there are a lot of improvements in this machine that weren't available when I bought my last Breadman 6 or 7 years ago. In addition to making a horizontal loaf this machine has many other great features such as: a hopper for dispensing nut or raisins (not just a beep to let you know it is time to add them), a pause button, power failure backup, bake only cycle, and the ability to program 5 custom bread cycles. The price is great too.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love making homemade bread again, more than ever!
I love the breadman. The best part is sitting watching tv and barely hearing it make wonderful bread that we will be smelling some time towards the end of the movie. I used to make bread myself. Fresh whole wheat bread and I even made a lot of sourdoughs which I must start up again with this machine. The best part is that you just stand there and watch it. No more work kneading or even wrestling with dough hooks like I used to with my Oster Mixer. It made good bread but it was difficult kneading heavy whole grains plus I had to be there 3 to 4 hours every step of the way - by hand. I have owned this machine now for almost a year. It is very easy to clean and is a high quality product. It also does have a stop/cancel button contrary to the review of a previous person. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Grilling really can't get much easier than this. After assembling the grill (which takes only a few minutes), simply plug it in and allow about 10 minutes to fully preheat the surface while you gather your steaks, kebabs, or whatever's to be grilled. The electric heat has an adjustable range from low (for keeping food warm) to high (for searing steaks). The nonstick grill surface not only means you can use a minimum of added fat, but it also makes cleanup a cinch. The surface has a subtle slope, with channels that draw accumulated fat or other liquids into a tray just below the surface. The high domed and vented lid helps create a circular flow of hot air to ensure even cooking--particularly important for a large roast or whole chicken.

The grill can be placed either directly on a tabletop or atop its pedestal. On its own, the grill surface stands about 6 inches high; with the pedestal, it stands about 2-1/2 feet high, not counting the domed lid. The pedestal is plenty sturdy for cooking, but the grill still seems a bit top-heavy, so pay special attention if grilling in a high-traffic area or near kids. Because of the easy electric heat, this grill can be used outdoors or indoors--when using it indoors, though, be prepared for potential spattering, steam, or other side effects of cooking. --Cynthia Nims ... • Grill top measures 17 inches across for generous cooking capacity
  • No-fuss grilling made easy, for use indoors or outside
  • Grill can be used on pedestal (stands about -1/2 feet high) or on tabletop

  • Sloping grate base draws fat away from food to collect in easy-to-empty tray

5-0 out of 5 stars backup grill
Originally I saw my mother's George Forman grill (smaller indoor one with lid). Then I saw my brother's Party Size grill. Both of them love their grill. I was able to taste the food from both and found it very tasty and easy to use. I decided to do some investigating on my own intending to purchase the party size grill, when I saw the indoor/outdoor grill. I was impressed with the fact that it appeared to be a bigger cooking surface and the price I found was within reason. I purchased it for the purpose of using it as an extra grill for a cookout I was having. No one used the gas grill at all. I have since used it indoors without the stand, making it convient on rainy days. It is the easiest grill to use and clean that we have ever owned. You can cook everything evenly, because there are no coals to level out. It can easily hold 4 to 5 steaks, 10 big hamburgers, and the list goes one. I am sure there are some drawbacks to those that swear by gas/charcoal grills, but my gas grill has found a permanent residence in our shed, while George sits ready to use at any time indoors or out on our back porch. I am so impressed, that I am purchasing one for my parents for Christmas, to replace the charcoal grill that takes for ever to heat up and messy to clean. I'm sure they'll love it too!

5-0 out of 5 stars No-fuss barbecuing!
Until last weekend, I was barbecue-challenged. I had a Weber charcoal grill that was almost never used, because I could never figure out how to grill a steak (or anything else) to perfection. I never knew how much charcoal to use, or when it was hot enough, and hated the messy cleanup afterwards. Then one Sunday I saw a flyer in the newspaper from a department store that was advertising the George Foreman indoor/outdoor electric grill for sale at only [money amount], plus there was a 20% off coupon. I read reviews of it at Amazon.com, and decided that there wasn't too much risk in buying it. The instruction booklet includes general guidelines on how long to cook different types of food, and what heat setting. My first evening, I grilled some swordfish, and it was absolutely delicious. The next evening, I grilled lamb chops, and these too were superb. Clean up was so easy since the grill is non-stick -- no spent charcoals to throw away! No need to buy propane gas! Just unplug! I think that even my husband, who has never cooked anything in his life, can learn to use it. The surface is large enough that you can cook for friends. I'm looking forward to barbecuing every weekend, even in winter! The only very minor negative: unlike a charcoal or gas grill, it can't be used in case of power failure (as we had in the Washington DC area recently after a storm).

5-0 out of 5 stars George is right. It actually does what he claims it will do!
I bought this grill 4 months ago and have used it several times per week ever since. I am a very lazy cook with 3 hungry teens and a hubby who eats like he's a heavyweight boxer. So, I needed something that would cook and clean-up as easily as possible. I can turn on the grill (it has an adjustable thermostat), take out a package of frozen chicken, hamburger patties, whatever, prepare it as usual, and the grill is ready to go to work. Dinner is on the table in no time. Its non-stick surface is just that, making clean-up simple and quick.
I am quite happy with the surface area, as I can easily fit 8 large burgers on at once. I live in the frozen north, so the fact that this grill will also work indoors is plus.
It's portable, reliable, easy to use and clean, and a bargain compared to other outdoor grills.
George put his name on a very good product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Someone please explain...
...who designed this grill and the packaging. I haven't seen anything better. Ever. My only complaint about this item is that the temp. control knob gets pretty warm when the unit is used for extended periods (but that doesn't happen too often - if it did I'd have gotten a bigger BBQ). That's it. Everything else about this unit is excellent. Cooks great, cleans great, stores great.

5-0 out of 5 stars fast food
We just got this indoor/outdoor grill and couldn't wait to try it. We just tossed on whatever was around -- leftover fried chicken, vidalia onions, cauliflour, and a zucchini. In as long as it took to pull out some dishes and set the table, a hot, fat-free (well maybe not the chicken) dinner was ready. If this is what we can expect from this grill, we're completely happy with it. Cleanup was a breeze. Tomorrow we'll try raw fish or chicken for fast food the way we like it. ... Read more

This appealing blender looks great, with a rounded triangularshape that marries form and function. It pours perfectly and cleansbeautifully, but what we noticed first was the terrific grip on thehandle: firm and comfortable, like a great handshake. The lid is alsowell designed, sealing easily and snugly, with tiny rubber tipsattached on three sides to facilitate a smooth release and opening. This blender packs a lot of power, puréeing in seconds andturning eggs and oil into mayonnaise in fewer than two minutes. Fivespeeds let you whip up everything from chunky salsa to velvety soups;there's also a pulse mode when you need an extra surge to add solids orgive something one last stir. As a bonus, this blender looks great onthe counter or stores easily in two parts in the cupboard. --C.Whitney-Ward

Editor's Choice:Braun's PowerMax blender is an ideal firstblender--not too expensive and still heavy-duty enough for manyblending tasks--and is our pick for best blender under $50. It has fivespeed settings and a pulse feature. The blades are made of stainlesssteel, which makes them strong enough to crush ice (don't pack the icetoo tight, though), and they remove easily for cleaning. The blades, jug, and lid go in the dishwasher, while you wipe the base by hand witha damp towel. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Rated the Number One Blender by Consumer Reports
I bought this blender because of the review it got in Consumers Reports Magazine, an unbiased point of view. We use it everyday to make smoothies and baby food and couldn't be happier with the product. I received the product without the lid when I ordered from Amazon so I contacted Braun as Amazon suggested and the lid was delivered that week.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent blender
I know there are others out there like me: when I want to buy something, I want to buy the best. Naturally, I go for the top of the line. That usually means paying more for better quality. My reasoning is to spend a little more and I won't have to buy another one for years to come.

I'd been meaning to buy a blender for sometime now. After some hunting through the most well-known "consumer reporting" magazine, I discovered that this $50 blender, mixed, chopped and crushed ice better than models that were EIGHT times as much. This model is the best I've ever used.

Ice crushing was the key factor in the purchase. This baby crushes it in a few quick pulses. Frozen drinks are ready in less than 30 seconds. I use mine for protein shakes and it's a snap to clean. The key is cleaning it immediately.

I must stress that you can't find a better value for your money. This blender is amazing!

1-0 out of 5 stars So many problems!!!!
I know I can always rely on Amazon reviews to be correct and concise. I wish i'd read reviews on this blender before we bought it at Sam's club. Within weeks of buying the blender all the plastic pieces broke off! There was much blame going on in my home....now I see that quite a few people who bought the Power Max had the SAME exact problem!!!! I called Braun today and I expect to receive my free replacement part within 2 weeks. I hope that the blender works though I have my doubts. I will think twice before buying another Braun product!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Customer Service?
I do not own this blender.

A few weeks ago, I sent an email to Braun asking if the blade gear teeth issue had been remedied, as I was interested in the blender only if so. I forgot about it, not receiving a reply. Today a box is on my doorstep, and what is inside? A blade assembly! To a blender I do not own! lol

Still no answer to my email.

2-0 out of 5 stars Excellent blender... for 4 months ONLY
I can't deny that the blender was very good WHILE IT WORKED. However, after 4 months using it the motor burned!! Smoke came from the bottom of the blender. I send it straight to the trash. Not recommended. ... Read more

This Calphalon 10-piece set consists of a 1-1/2-quart coveredsaucepan, a 2-quart covered saucepan, a 3-quart covered sautépan, an 8-quart covered stockpot, and 8- and 10-inch omelet pans--allthe cookware needed for most kitchen tasks. With aluminum coressandwiched by stainless-steel layers, Calphalon's Tri-Ply pots and pansdeliver the attributes of both metals. The aluminum cores conduct heatquickly and uniformly across the pots and pans' bottoms and all the wayup their sides. The 18/10 stainless-steel interiors and exteriors areeasy to clean and maintain, resist scratching, denting, warping, andcorrosion, are extremely durable, and are nonreactive to acidic food.Domed, glass covers permit cooking to be monitored without releasingheat and are oven-safe to 450 degrees F. Riveted, stainless-steelhandles stay cool on the stovetop and have hanging holes. Pot and panrims are flared to facilitate dripless pouring. Tri-Ply cookware ispolished to a mirror finish outside for beauty and wears a satin finishinside to conceal inevitable utensil marks. Everything goes safely intothe dishwasher, although hand washing better preserves the mirrorfinish. Tri-Ply cookware carries a lifetime warranty against defects.--Fred Brack

5-0 out of 5 stars Great cookware! You can't go wrong.
I have tried other brands of cookware and these are the best at any price I've seen. I own both a set of the Tri-ply stainless and the nonstick Contemporary cookware from Calphalon (bought one and won the other) and both are fantastic. As far as any discoloration on the stainless, try some Bon-Ami or Bartender's Friend powder. Works great and keeps everyting very shiny and clean. All-Clad is fine but for the money you can't beat Calphalon. Calpahlon is owned by Rubbermaid so maybe that explains why it is so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Items on Our Registry
My fiance and I chose to add the Tri Ply series to our registry based on look and feel alone. We couldn't be happier that we did. They look beautiful and feel wonderful. FOOD ACTUALLY COOKS DIFFERENT IN THESE. I would recommend using lower heat than you would with a cheaper set.

I too experienced a discoloration after using one of the pots for the first time... had a heart attack! As per one of the earlier reviews: a little distilled vinegar... poof, back to normal!

FYI - We chose this set over an All-Clad set based on looks and price... but we have some friends who got the All-Clad set... ours seems better when it comes to quality...

5-0 out of 5 stars Better made than All-clad
I believe that both All-clad and Calphalon are now made in China. Go and compare both side-by-side. Check the lids for flatness (see if they "rock" back and forth or are level). Turn all of the pots and pans upside down and check for tightness of fit at the handle. Some of the more expensive All-clad have a space between the handle and the pan that you could slip a dime into. Really, go look for yourself. Calphalon has better quality control, the lids rock less (still a little every once in awhile), and the handles fit snug (less chance of food becoming trapped). They just seem to be a surperior product. Thanks for the tip on cleaning the inside with a tbs of distilled vinegar. Brand new and the insides picked up some rainbow color. A little distilled vinegar on the inside, rub with your fingers and rinse. Like new again. As for cooking these are great pots n pans. If you are not a serious cook get the commercial hard anodized or commercial nonstick. These are unbelievably easy to clean. A real pleasure to wash by hand, and they "brown" foods with no real difference if you are an average cook. If I were buying these again I would start with all the deep discount sale pieces and build my own set. Your food will tase better, the colors are much richer (carrots are orange and greens are really "green") I always thought that was just a lot of hype. My wife is a great cook. I am an "eater" and love quality products. Non of the handles get hot. Just use a normal light weight dish cloth. Happy eating

4-0 out of 5 stars This set is just beautiful!
I was concerned that I wouldn't use all the pieces, but I have found uses for everything here. They're like artwork in the kitchen!

The pans are nicely weight balanced and the handles stayed cool. I like the glass lids so I don't have to open them and release all the steam, but the steam fogs them over for a while anyway. The pans heated up at lower temperature and more evenly than any other pans I have such as the T-Fal skillets.

The pans cleaned easily with hot sudsy water and minimal scrubbing. I had some discoloration in my 2 1/2 qt saucepan that was sort of purple even after washing it twice. I panicked until I remembered the universal solution for cleaning stainless: distilled vinegar! It works on water spots and calcium as well. I put a splash in there it cleared up immediately. After rinsing and drying it was shinier than before I used it. Phew!

These are lifetime pans. I replaced everything I had with these. Some of the stuff I had since I got married, but no regrets. Just beautiful!

I changed my stars to 4 from 5 because those handles just aren't big enough to grip the pans and kind of hurt really. I wouldn't recommend these if you have any hand pain or grip problems. Also, I have a hard time cleaning completely around those pesky rivets.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Pans, but not the easiest to clean.
I bought these pans some while ago and I will echo the other reviews and say that they are outstanding as far as cooking quality goes. However, I find that they are not particularly suited to cleaning in the dishwasher. My pans come out of the dishwasher looking just as bad (or worse) as they went in. My suggestion is to treat these as hand-wash only. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

The Simply Calphalon Nonstick Anodized line of cookware is an excellent alternative for those who prefer cooking on a nonstick surface and who desire Calphalon quality at a budget price. This 10-piece cookware set offers everything a cook needs to kick off a lifetime of meals. The set includes 8-inch and 10-inch omelet pans, 1-quart and 2-quart covered saucepans, a 3-quart covered saute pan, and a 6-quart covered stockpot.

Made of durable hard-anodized aluminum of uniform thickness, these pans are excellent conductors of heat and cook food quickly and evenly. Their double-coated nonstick interiors prevent food from sticking and make cleanup easier. The pans have oval stainless-steel handles with a blasted satin finish that are comfortable to grip and are held in place by sturdy stainless-steel rivets. Also made of brushed stainless steel, the lids are domed to keep moisture in during cooking. This cookware is oven-safe up to 375 degrees F so you don’t have to dirty several pans to make one dish. All Simply Nonstick cookware should be hand-washed and is covered by a 10-year warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed...
My wife and I bought this set about two months ago. We were excited to be able to get Calphalon quality at such a reasonable price.

Two months later, we find that the non-stick coating on the larger saucepan is already wearing through. I called Calphalon to discuss this. They were very surprised that this is happening already and offered to replace the pot under warranty. I told them I was concerned that this will be part of a trend and that all pots would have to be returned sooner than later. They suggested I try to return or exchange at the retail store where I purchased them.

I've been able to exchange the set at the retailers and have opted for Cuisinart MultiClad in its place. So much for the great non-stick experiment.

I'm surprised with the poor quality of the coating on these Calphalon pots. I have a large anodized saute pan of theirs (which I know does not have the non-stick coating) that performs beautifully, so was disappointed that the Simply Calphalon didn't perform better. I guess my set must have been a "Monday morning at the factory" set...

5-0 out of 5 stars Good set
I was looking to buy some higher-end pans without having to refinance the house and these fit the bill. They are durable, the handles are comfortable and they clean easily. Lids fit well, pans sit nicely on a smooth top stove and heat evenly. Walls are thick but pans are not too heavy and have a good balance. You can't ask for more for such a nicely priced set. The only negative is that the outside of the pans will scratch. I found it was cheaper to buy a set with fewer pans and buy the 3-quart covered sauté pan separately.

5-0 out of 5 stars Joy in the kitchen
These pots and pans will give you a new outlook on cooking and the subsequent cleanup. Easy, easy, easy. The cookware is heavy enough to do everything from omelets to fudge, and it cleans up with minimal effort. The lids are excellent also. This was a 'splurge' for me, yet it represents one of the smartest buying drecisions I've made.

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential cookware set for the cooking enthusiast
These are some of the best pans you could own. First, there is no higher quality, heavy duty pan out there. Second, they is surprisingly cheap for such high quality. Third, I have never tackled a project with these pans that has not come out a success. It is truly professional grade for the home. Even if you are not a professional chef or a food enthusiast, these pans make building a great dish easy. You don't have to worry about those non-stick coatings that peel off but you also don't have to worry about your food sticking to the surface. Ignore the fact that it is more expensive than K-Mart Brand Pan--It is worth the extra cost! Food always cooks evenly and always seems to do so effortlessly. It is the perfect size for a family of four or five and can be used for just about any situation when you don't have the proper pan (although you should really go and check out all of Calphalon's other pans too).

5-0 out of 5 stars I love Calphalon!
I'm not sure whether this is the exact set I own, but mine has the same pieces. I bought my set when I moved into my first apartment, and I don't plan on ever buying another set of pans. The non-stick surface is amazing (yes, I can brown perfect pancakes without oil and I never have to *scrub* them, even with burned on food). Its definitely worth it to have the clear glass lids rather than opaque [Edited to add: One of my lids shattered a couple months ago--I think Calphalon has stopped making the glass ones because of this, although I still like having the ability to see my food while it's cooking]. Also, before you buy, check the handles: Calphalon seems to have redesigned their handles so they are much skinnier (mine are nice and fat, so I can easily pour a heavy pan one-handed without straining my wrists. My parents have a set with skinny handles, and it is much harder to hold them one-handed.) I've put mine in the dishwasher a few times, and it doesn't seem to do them any harm, but they tend to dry spotty. I would rather baby them and hand wash than have them looking dingy. All in all, a terrific product whether you're looking for one pot or a whole set! ... Read more

This 12-inch everyday pan will end up being the hardest working pan in your kitchen. It is ideal for everything from simmering stovetop succotash and braising brisket to browning Dutch pancakes or cooking fruit tarts. Part of Calphalon's Commercial Hard-Anodized line of cookware, this pan is made of heavy-gauge aluminum that's uniformly thick across the bottom and sides, allowing for quick and even heat distribution. Its durable hard-anodized finish is stick- and scratch-resistant and won’t react with acidic foods. The patented cast stainless-steel handles are comfortable to grip, plus they minimize heat transfer so handles stay cool on the stovetop. Handles are held in place by three sturdy stainless-steel rivets. The included hard-anodized lid is dome-shaped, making it ideal for moist-heat cooking. The cookware and lid are oven-safe up to 450 degrees F so you can transfer a frittata to the oven for browning without having to switch pans. All cookware in this line is covered by a lifetime warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Top quality pan!
I have used Calphalon pans quite a lot and they really are some of the best cookware you can buy. This pan didn't get much use in my kitchen, I tend to use the frying pan and pots more than this. Like the other Calphalon pots and pans, this one is made of heavy-gauge aluminum which I absolutely love. It heats up quickly and evenly. It also has stay-cool handles, which are great for me when I'm having a moment and forget the pot holders!

I have used this particular pan for making omelettes and browning meat for tacos, so while its not the most commonly used pan in my kitchen it has seen a decent amount of use. I've never had a problem with the stick-resistant surface, its always been super easy to clean after each use. If something is particularly sticky, I just soak the pan in water for 20 minutes and then scrub it down. I also only use nylon Calphalon utensils, using metal will probably scratch up the pan.

The only bad thing about Calphanlon pans is that you are not supposed to put them in the dishwasher. You "can" but it tends to damage the surface and it also voids the lifetime warranty (which is one of the main reasons I tried Calphalon in the first place!).

5-0 out of 5 stars Come on! You know you need this one!
I LOVE this pan! Can't believe I bypassed my review of it. It's been a wonderful addition to my growing CALPHALON collection.

This has become THE first pan I grab for almost ANY application. The size is perfect for one pan family meals. Cooks a wonderful stir fry and will take the heat needed to acheive the same. I've fried egg rolls in it, browned meat in it, and even steamed veggies in it. Chili, sauces,paella...you name it...it'll work 9 out of 10 times you grab it.

This pan is broad and low, but has plenty of room for whatever you're cooking. Brown your stir fry meat, toss in your veggies and sauce, place the domed lid on top and "dinner will be served in 5 minutes!"

Calphalon heats quickly, browns beautifully, deglazes wonderfully, and clean up is a breeze in my book.

I now own quite a Calphalon collection and must say, with few exceptions, this has become my most used pan. (Gee, maybe that's why it's call the "EVERY DAY PAN.") Look at the great price Amazon.com is offering this for and click to order. You absolutely will not be disappointed and will have a new workhourse in you kitchen collection.

5-0 out of 5 stars MY WIFE LOVES IT
The wife is the one who uses it all the time. She loves that she can cook enough for the family in one pan. Clean up is a breeze. A great buy for anybody who does alot of cooking.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT pan at an even greater price
I have used Calphalon pans for years, and I agree with other reviewers that their hard anodized pans are far superior to other pans on the market. Unlike stainless, they do not scorch. Unlike copper, they do not require laborious cleaning and polishing to keep looking nice. I find that when I read the reviews of people who have been disappointed with Calphalon's hard anodized pans, they typically did not understand what they were purchasing or how to use them. Hard anodized cookware is not non-stick. It is because the food INITIALLY sticks to the pan that you get such great browning. They are stick resistant, meaning that after the food has cooked properly, it releases, leaving a wonderful crust on the food and great browned bits in the bottom of the pan.

And what's all this about "ruining" the pans by putting them in the dishwasher? They may discolor, but they are not ruined. Nor do you need any special cleaners to clean them. If there is anything stuck that you didn't deglaze, a brief soak takes everything off. I've had my pans for over 10 years, and none of them have stuck on food, places where the anodation has come off, or any of the other problems of which some other reviewers have complained.

The everday pan is no exception. It conducts heat wonderfully, and works great on top or inside of the oven. It works for almost any job you can throw at it, from scrambled eggs to roasted pork loan to braised lamb shanks. Its size makes it perfect for family meals, yet it is not so big that you wouldn't pull it out for a meal for just one or two people. It is nonreactive, which makes it great for acidic foods like pasta sauce. The domed lid really seals in steam and promotes self-basting. And the dual handles make it easy to carry from oven to table. This pan really can handle it all. And at this price, it deserves to be in every kitchen.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
You will see the beginning of this review on several pans I am rating. After much research I decided on Calphalon anodized pans. I did so because A. I read that they were easier to care for and clean than stainless and B. I put together a set from Amazon at a wonderful price. I regret my decision because these pans are anything BUT easy to care for. They show every spec of oil and it does not come off easily with the special cleaner needed to protect the anodized finish. They also scratch easily when they touch each other. I hand them but cannot imagine how bad they would look if I stacked them instead. I am in the process of gradually replacing these pans with stainless which will not be ruined if one of your children forgets and puts it in the dishwasher.

I have noticed that the nonstick pans were made in China and the others were made in Ohio. I have seen reviews saying the Ohio pans are better. I did not find this to be true. The nonstick pans have shiney handles and lids that are much more attractive than the dull metal from the US made ones. Neither appears to be more or less sturdy.

Of all the pans this one gets the most use and believe me it shows. One reviewer said "who cares" about looks but it is not only the look but the health issue here. I do not feel comfortable with pans that are no longer anodized and thus leaching aluminum into my food. The jury is still out about aluminum and alzheimers, but I don't want to take the risk. My recommendation if you want anodized it to only buy non-stick so you do not have to worry about acids ruining the anodized finish on the interior. If you are not concerned about this then I think you will be happy with this pan. It is large enough to make a big meal. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars nightmare of a gift
I have one of these machines and have had no problems with it. HOWEVER, I sent my 86 year old father one for his birthday (he had used a Panasonic for 11 years but it gave up the ghost! and he bakes bread like three times a week!). Anyway, he has done nothing but turn out "bricks" with this machine. Trying to help him over the phone has been frustrating, especially because we live 1,200 miles apart. Would I give this Zo bread machine as a gift again? NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!

1-0 out of 5 stars I'm so frustrated!
I can't believe all the glowing reports I've read about the Zojirushi breadmaker model BBCC-V20. I have yet to make a good loaf of bread. Today I tried using an expensive mix from the store where we bought the machine. It is a flop! I do like using it for mixing and rising and then removing the dough to finish the bread outside the machine. My husband has talked with the sales rep, but her suggestions have not helped.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bread Machine!
Just received my Zo X20 after using a West Bend bread machine (it died from overuse) for 5 years. I am delighted with the horizontal loaves and beautiful texture. The bread pan releases the loaf easily and I can't imagine having trouble with warping as the pan is quite substantial. I would like more recipes in the instruction manual but should be able to find some online. I'm surprised some people have had a bad experience with the Zo as my family and I have been very pleased.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time, money or ingredients!
If you have reached this page looking for a reference to the Zojirushi, here is my delima: I purchased this machine and wish I hadn't.
It looks and seems like it would be a good purchase, but when I got it home and tried baking several loaves, they were hard as a rock and wouldn't release from the pan. I called the company and they sent me new blades. That helped with turning the loaves out, but they were not eatable. The crust was very hard and the bread was so terrible, I gave it to the birds. I kept calling the company and they finally said to contact the sender and get my money back....thank goodness, I returned it and by recommendation of one of the South Beach forums, was advised to purchase the Breadman Ultimate. I hope this saves whoever reads this some time and aggrivation! Happy Shopping!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Toast
The journey to a perfect piece of toast begins with a ZO cx20. Out of the box, with recipes from the manual, one can be an instant able baker. The ZO turns out bread with a wonderful texture, nicely crusted outside with a tender interior. Perfect with a dab of butter when hot out of the loaf pan; great toasted with jam or cinnamon sugar the next morning. Not being of the baker persuasion, I purchased the Zo - after much web research - following the traumatic closing of our neighborhood Jewish bakery. I have experimented conservatively beyond the supplied recipes and have not been disappointed. The ZO's cost may seem steep to some at first, but in our house we are now eating better, but less, bread. Going from three modest to two large loaves a week, I figure the break-even (3x$2.50 purchase v. 2x$1.25 ingredients) will be less than a year. In about 10 minutes from this writing we will be enjoying just-baked slabs of white/wheat bread with good strong coffee. The prefect way to start a Saturday morning! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I prefer the tilt head model
I bought this mixer to replace my KitchenAid Ultra Power because it was a smoking deal on Amazon.

Here's what I don't like:
1. The struggle to snap the bowl in place.
2. Because of #1, I have to keep adjusting the screw so the paddle/dough hook, whip meet correctly.
3. One ruined paddle that is missing its nylon coating.

Upside:
1.Customer service is nice.I called to complain about the paddle, and they sent me a new one, free, along with instructions on how to properly adjust the mixer.
2.I can make double batches of frosting.

Here's how you adjust that screw to prevent the nylon coating from coming off your paddle and dough hook:
1.Put a dime in the bottom of the bowl.
2.Use the paddle and turn the mixer on.
3.Adjust the screw.
4.If the dime moves about 3/4" each time the paddle goes by, then your mixer is properly adjusted.

2-0 out of 5 stars Paint came off after 3 uses
I have the feeling that this is a refurbished mixer. The paint on the flat beater came off after 3rd time.I was only making cookies when I realized the paint has come off.The paint on the bottom of the mixer where the bowl sits also came off. Then we read the manual that you have to adjusted the "beater to bowl clearance".Why wasn't this pre-adjusted by the manufacture. My husband was trying to get the screw off to adjust this but couldn't.Now I am thinking returning this because paint might come off again on the beater or anywhere else on this mixer. This model was not advertised as a refurbished model when we bought it.But I think it might be because it was showing in Amazon as an used one at one point, now it's not again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ancient work horse
I have to say that after 18 years of near constant use, this mixer is like an old friend.

It has consistantly made large loads of bread 2-3 times aweek for 18 years before it started acting up. It also has been used for just about everything else, as we have almost every contraption that goes with it!

In the 18th year the motor brushes needed to be replaced, which was done by a local repair shop. Now about a year later it is starting to make a lot of noise. I took it apart and could not find what the source of trouble was. When I got it all back together, the noise stopped for a few weeks, but now is back again, prompting me to look around to see if there is something better . . . I am tempted by the larger motor series mixers, but would like to keep my current mixers bowls and beaters . . .

As for the other reviewers who seem to be trashing this mixer . . . I simply do not see their complaints as being a problem. This has been a great workhorse for our busy kitchen for far longer than anything else that see's nearly half it's use.

I am still looking for the next mixer, but for 99% of the users, this machine is more than enough I'm certain.

2-0 out of 5 stars Put me in the not satisfied category....
This thing is the worst of both worlds. It has all the hassles of an industrial mixer without the power.

First of all, the bowl itself goes up and down instead of having a swivel head, so unless you put all the ingredients in at once, it is a pain to add ingredients.I guess removing the bowl is an option, but then you need to remove the mixing blade. Then it starts with a pretty strong kick (even when set on 1), so there is usually flour everywhere. On top of all this it really doesn't have a strong motor.I did less than a double batch of chocolate chip cookies with it, and once all the ingredients were in, it wouldn't go past speed 1.Finally, it comes with very little, and all the add ons are pretty pricey.

My advise: either buy a swivel head model, or get one of the professional models with a real strong motor (450+ watts).

1-0 out of 5 stars easy lift handle does not work veyr good...
I have purchased 3 of these mixers in the last couple of years. While I like the power they have, I would never buy another. the so called easy lift handle is prone to breakage. On all three mixers, after a couple of months, the handle is so hard to use (bowl won't budge) that I have given up on these mixers. I would suggest getting the kitchenaid with the pivoting head. ...
