5-0 out of 5 stars Stainless steel....no stains or bacteria
If you're like me, when I am grilling - there is grease, oil and many other grilling sauces flying about that would ruin a wood handled tool during the first use. These stainless steel beauties will stand up to your biggest BBQ parties. They have a nice length to them which will keep your hands and arms clear of the BTUs. The thickness of the steel is guaranteed to last, you can feel the quality of these tools immediately.

I purchased these because they matched the 2002 model of Weber Genesis Gold series, but they really would shine on any model or manufacturer.

Easy cleanup in the dishwasher... and they come with a 10, yes TEN year guarantee!

5-0 out of 5 stars All I Can Say Is, "WOW!!!"
End of message.

Kidding. I was surprised at how BIG these tools are! They are gargantuan. They are at least 20" long, and they are very wide and very heavy. I could turn over a Volkswagen with the spatula!

As others have written, I like the all-steel construction. This makes them easy to clean and keep sanitary.

I am ordering another set because once my family lays their eyes on these tools, they'll steal them!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent quality
I've owned this set for over a year, and I can tell you these tools are strong and durable. They are large, easily handling larger cuts of meat. They look nice, feel nice, they've been left out in the rain for days with no problem. These tools will last forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-constructed set
This heavy-duty, stainless steel set consists of tongs, a fork, and a turner. They're so sturdily constructed you could use them as exotic martial arts weapons. In fact, I'm working up a cool tong and fork kata right now. The turner doubles as an S & M flail for those into kinky stuff. Enjoy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Manly tools for the grill
You could try to take over a small country with these grill tools if you wanted to! Heavy duty stainless construction makes you feel like you are working with something solid that will last forever! My only disappointment was how they washed up in the dishwasher. From here on out they will be washed by hand. ... Read more

A great gift, this seven-piece set equips a cook with fiveessential kitchen knives, a 9-inch sharpening steel to keep blade edgesaligned, and a hardwood block to store knives and steel on the counter. The knives are a 3-1/2-inch paring knife, a 5-3/4-inch utility knife,an 8-inch carving knife, an 8-inch bread knife to slice crusty loaves, and an 8-inch chef's knife for rocking through chopping and mincingtasks. The knives don't have bolsters and are stamped, not forged fromstainless steel. The steel is of lesser quality than Henckels' premierlines. Handles are also formed of stainless steel, and their satinfinish contrasts stylishly with the blades. The knives aredishwasher-safe and carry a lifetime warranty against defects.--Fred Brack

3-0 out of 5 stars Just OK
I am not a professional chef, but I am an avid cook and I found this knife set to be a bit disappointing. I purchased it with hopes of getting a good set of Henckels knives with a longwearing stainless steel handle. Instead, these knives feel VERY light, the shape is hard to handle for fast chopping or dicing, and the handles frankly just feel strange in your hand (they have a sort of a sandpaper texture.) I would only recommend these knives for someone who prefers beauty to function- they are attractive in the block on the counter. In my house, however, they never leave the block.

5-0 out of 5 stars A bargain at twice the price
By far the best cutlery set you will ever own.
A+ in my book, even if this set was twice the price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Advertised Price A Sham?
This item is advertised on may different websites at $29.99, however when you try to buy it, Amazon suddenly jacks the price up to $34.99?

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Thermometer I've Used
I've tried several other types of thermometers to no avail. I've used both the standard meat thermomter as well as more expensive digital thermometers. This works better than anything I've tried. The remote saves trips out the bbq and I've never had any trouble reading it. A must buy for any serious bbq.

1-0 out of 5 stars Beware the limitation!!!
I returned mine. Why? Because it does not give you a reading for anything over 199 degrees. I purchased mine for use in a Weber smoker. I wanted to measure temperatures up to 220 degrees inside the smoker. This timer only registers to 199 degrees. After that it just beeps to tell you (as the directions say:) "out of range". It worked fine below that, but it was useless with any temps over that. It says the probe can register up to 480 degrees or something, so why limit the readout?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Seasonal Tool
The remote sensor is the selling point on this one. The utility of having the alarm unit in the house is wonderful, especially for us year round cooks - no more running outside in the snow to check the meat. Luv it. Got 2 - one for the charcoal, one for the gas. Note: when you screw up and let the probe cord overheat, you can buy replacement probes from manufacturers of similar reading digital temp sensors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I needed.
Ever had a meal go up in smoke because you got pulled away from the grill? This solves the problem. Also, I grill a lot about 3 times a week and that's just in the winter. This saves a lot of those trips out to the grill to probe the food and eliminates the need to open the grill cover and lose all that heat. Just stick it in put it on the grill and forget about it.

I really works.

1. Just to test things out I wheeled my grill to the far edge of my property then went down to my basement. I still got a full signal about 80 linear feet away through a brick wall and two thick plaster-lathe interior walls.

2. The monitor warns you when your food is within 5 degrees of your desired doneness so you have time to react..

3. It really really cooked my steak medium rare.

4 Minor annoyance: It has handy preprogrammed settings for rare, medium rare, medium etc. for beef, veal and lamb. But it assumes you want hamburger, fish and poultry well done. In case you don't want these foods cooked that well you need to find an appropriate temperature setting from one of the other foods. For example If you need to turn a turkey and want to be warned when it raches 145 degrees you'd need to set the monitor for beef and medium rare, which happens to be 145 degrees. Would have been nice if it had the option to directly set the monitor for a specific temperature.

Still this thing is absolutely great. Just what I always wished I had. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mmmm, fresh coffee....
I purchased this press as a Christmas present for a coffee lover. We are both very pleased with it! In just 4 minutes it made excellent coffee with no grinds whatsoever in the brew. We used filtered drinking water from our cooler and fresh ground coffee and it was some of the best coffee I've tasted. We got about 3 big cups out of it and it did stay hot for quite awhile, although we drank it up too quickly to find out just how long it would stay hot. It was also easy clean-up, very few parts to clean out thanks to it's simple design. This will be great to travel and camp with as well as make great coffee quickly in the morning. Highly recommended for coffee lovers!

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding French Press
I have been searching for a thermal french press to replace my coffee maker and this is it! It makes a perfect cup of coffee, stays warm, and looks really really cool. For the folks that complain about keeping coffee warm--the only way to maintain 200+degrees is to add heat from an external source which tends to ruin the coffee. A thermal pot is a compromise but works well if you drink the coffee in a reasonable amount of time. The pot is small enough to make 3 or 4 cups at a time and so easy to rinse out. You can make more by simply putting the kettle back on to boil when you're ready. Freshly made coffee is better than anything that has sat in a pot for an hour or more--duh!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Camp Coffee
We have travel trailer but often camp where there is no electricity. Stove-top percolators just boiled the coffee. The 8-cup pot gives me two+ big mugs of great-tasting coffee and the second cup is hot without being 'scorched'. If you have more than one or two coffee drinkers, I'd consider the 12 cup pot.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the French Press that will convert the doubtful
This is by far the best coffee making device I have ever owned. It keeps coffee hot, the plunger seals tightly to reduce sludge, and it's more than easy to clean. Plus...no more broken carafes.

5-0 out of 5 stars My best coffee ever!
I got this press for Christmas two years ago and absolutely LOVE it! I've used french presses for almost 10 years and was only disappointed that the coffee didn't stay hot. Then this baby came along and solved that problem! The coffee stays fairly hot for a couple of hours if you make sure to turn the lid so it is shut (there is a little arrow that points to the spout when open and to the handle when closed). Also, because the plunger has a plastic seal around the rim, there is hardly any coffee "sludge" at the bottom of your cup. And because it is stainless steel it will not break, it is a cinch to clean, and it stays bright and shiny.

I highly recommend this pot to anyone who really loves coffee - it takes a tad more work, but what a difference! Plus, it is truly beautiful - how many coffee makers can say that? ... Read more

Vacuum sealing keeps food fresh and flavorful three to five times longerthan traditional storage methods by removing all air, the principal cause offood spoilage. FoodSaver's patented VacLoc bags, which work with this kit, aresafe for boiling, microwaving, freezing, and refrigerating, so a sealed bag offrozen veggies can just be dropped into a pot of boiling water. The bags alsocan be washed and reused, are dishwasher safe, and are recyclable. The Vac 300is easy to use. Put food in the bag, place the open end of the bag into thevacuum channel, close the lid, and press down. Meat and chicken are now safe forup to three years and fish up to two years in the freezer. Lettuce can staycrisp for weeks instead of a few days. You can even create your own frozendinners (much yummier than store-bought!) by vacuum packaging leftovers right onthe plate. This kit includes: the FoodSaver appliance, five each of quart andgallon VacLoc bags, a roll of 8-inch and a roll of 11-inch VacLoc rolls tocreate custom-sized bags, a user manual, and a quick start guide. 5-0 out of 5 stars Tilia will replace seals free
I actually use the Vac 500, but the solution to many of the problems I read about here is to replace the lower seal and/or the upper seal unit. Both of these are easy to replace and a simple call to Tilia with the problem will result in FREE REPLACEMENTS.

I just did this for my 500 and I am back in sealing business.

I WILL PROBABLY BUY AN UPGRADE MODEL NEXT TIME.

3-0 out of 5 stars Broken seal
I have had my Vac 300 for about 1-1/2 years and never had a problem with it until just this past month. Now the left side of the sealing strip will not seal and I did not realize that until days later when I went back into the freezer. My brother swears by this product but has purchased a more expensive unit. I plan to also "upgrade" to a better level because when it works, you can't beat it, and once you get used to it, you can't be without it!

2-0 out of 5 stars works for lest than a year
bought last year worked wonderful for 10 months and then came around to seal some bags and would not seal. vacuum works but will not work sealing anything. looking for a new one but will not buy another tilia and will buy more along a professional sealer

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Appliance
I purchased this food saver vac 300. My husband and I were so anxious to receive it that we both looked for it to arrive daily. We now wait in line to use it. He loves to reseal in the freshness of cereal and potato chips. I went to work on meat items for the freezer. We both found the machine very easy to operate and work with. I have put up meatloaf, stuffed green peppers, hamburg patties, steaks, pork roast and Italian sausage for starters. They really look great in the packages. I have told my grown children that when they want to purchase gifts for us to get more vacloc rolls and they all agree that is a good idea as they never know what to buy us that we really can use. We can't say enough about this wonderfull machine and are very very pleased with it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love Lodge
This is a great griddle/grill. It's a huge chunk of cast iron so it's going to be heavy. You should just expect that. But that's one of the things that make cast iron so great. It's sturdy, indestructible, heats evenly, and holds heat well. It's the closest thing to grilling besides actually firing up the grill. Food cooked on the grill side has a smoky, grilled flavor. The griddle side is great for bacon, sausages, hash browns, fajitas, and cheese steaks. I haven't been brave enough to try pancakes yet. Clean up of the grill side is the only drawback, as even a well-seasoned piece will occasionally have bits that stick and burn, especially at high heat. Even so, this is a very minor inconvenience for such a great piece. A good exhaust hood or a couple of open doors or windows will make use easier also. I just consider it part of the experience. We love to take ours camping. Over the fire or on a camp stove it's a large, versatile piece of cookware. Breakfast for the whole family can cook on one side. Season and wash correctly and this will give you lifetimes of use. I'm sure your kids, grandkids, and great grandkids will love it too.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Forgotten Necessity
If you like to grill in the winter, then you should buy this grill! Season it well and follow all the instructions and you'll have no trouble keeping the grill clean. The griddle is great for Sunday morning breakfasts. It is heavy, so you've been warned. Non-stick grills can't compared, as the non-stick peels away after awhile. This grill will last!

2-0 out of 5 stars a big warping heavy messy piece!
I own at least a dozen of the lodge cookware pieces and love them very much but this is not such a great thing. I went through the normal in the oven seasoning that always works just great but this thing warped like a potato chip! It did flatten back out as it cooled but everytime I put it on my two burners to use, it warps again making it very rocky on the stove top and my pancakes looked like Picasso made them. It always flattens back out but it's really a pain in the ah hum to use. The grill side set off all the smoke detectors and left a greasey film on everything in my whole house and I was only using a med low burner, well, at least the door stopped squeeking! It is also a bit to narrow for two rows of pancakes unless you make them very small and the center doesn't get hot enough. Just when you thought you've experienced all the unpleasantness of this pan, you then go to clean it and discover you'd be better off just throwing it out in the yard for the dogs to lick clean! I love you Lodge, I really do but I'll stick to outside grilling and my larger lodge skillet for hotcakes, the 13 inch round pan is a dream as are all the other pieces I own. As for this heavy sticky thing well, I may try it out on my fire ring next cookout and if that doesn't work out, it's yard sale time!

4-0 out of 5 stars No Soap Ever
Once seasoned this is a great, if messy, item to use. Try to set up a surround to catch the splatter. If you can't get your irons from a restaurant going out of business or a farm sale(Check institutions also)season well before first use. A rule of thumb is to use it for french fries for the first 5-6 times. NEVER try to cook starch or sugar foods the first Ten times of use!!!! Pro cooks never use the first crepe even though their pans are well seasoned. For the best seasoning build a fire outside and put the iron in it. This will burn off the wax coating or SOAP residue and tighten up the metal. If that seems a little over the top for you, put it in the bottom of your oven for about a month. Some smoke will always be present when seasoning an iron; which is why I suggest doing it outside or letting your favourite restaurant do it for you. Just drop it off and they will burn and abuse it into terrific shape. In about three months your iron will be like teflon. Ugly as sin,but a great pan. When cleaning: NEVER NEVER use soap!!!(The chinese never use soap in their woks and they are plain sheet steel). I never use soap on the cooking surface of any of my fry pans be they stainless, aluminum or iron(I don't use painted frypans). Just wipe it out with a paper towel or damp cloth and immediately add a light coating of oil. If necessary, use plain hot water and a little E grease. And NEVER EVER let an iron soak.. The next time you use it rub a few drops of oil over the surface, place on the heat then add your cooking oil. Also, whenever possible, after cooking outdoors, use the fine talcum like dust left in the BarBQ. Scour with the ash, rinse well and coat with a neutral oil and put on a heat source if possible. Allow to cool and wipe off residue. Finally,if your not real dedicated to this type of cookware FORGETABOUTIT. It can be a pain. stick with your usual teflon cookware. That's why they invented the stuff.

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth the trouble of cast-iron care
For pancakes, this iron griddle heats slowly and evenly, and it holds the heat better than a teflon griddle but...you...must...season this and instruct well-meaning helpers NOT, repeat, NOT to use any soap of any kind, sponge, steel wool pad, on the griddle. Ever. If you are worried about cleaning it, you can scrub the surface with a hot, clean water, handful of cooking salt and a clean paper towel. After seasoning, pancakes cook evenly and this is wide enough to go over two burners and really get some production going at breakfast. Just remember about the seasoning and the No-Soap. ... Amazon.com Review

By combining a regular coffeemaker and espresso machine, this1500-watt appliance makes it possible to satisfy every coffee cravingwith a single, compact unit. Separate water tanks permit simultaneouscoffee and espresso brewing for satisfying everyone at once. Theespresso-machine side includes a steam nozzle with a foolproof frothingattachment for creating coffee drinks like cappuccino and café latté.Making espresso follows tradition: tamping the proper amount of coffeeinto a filter basket inside a filter holder, twisting the filter holderonto the machine, pouring water into the machine's boiler, and twistingthe control knob, which instantly goes from the off position to brewingespresso or frothing milk. Depending on the amount of water, up to four2-ounce cups will then be brewed into an 8-ounce glass carafe.

Making regular coffee also adheres to tradition: inserting a filterinto the filter basket, spooning in coffee, pouring water into thecoffeemaker's tank, and pressing a button. Depending on the amount ofwater, up to ten 5-ounce cups of coffee will then be brewed into a50-ounce glass carafe, which sits on a warming plate. Removing thecarafe from the warming plate pauses the brewing process for 20 secondsto accommodate a midbrew pour. 5-0 out of 5 stars 8 Years Old and Still Works Flawlessly
I bought this unit 8 years ago and it hasn't skipped a beat. I've made coffee with it almost every day and it still works as well as the day I bought it. It's performance is nothing short of remarkable. I recommend cleaning it with 1/2 strength vinegar at least once a year to remove mineral deposits.

As far as the espresso function, I've used it sporadically but have always been impressed with the quality of the foam/brew. I couldn't imagine a better performing coffemaker in terms of appearance, quality, and function for the price.

When and if this unit fails, I will definitely buy another Krups model.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid performer
I have the previous version of this machine which I have used practically every day for about the last 10 YEARS! And it works just fine. The large 10 cup pot/section is easy to clean, easy to pour, makes good coffee. The espresso part I have used daily since returning from Spain this last April, and it works very well. I really can't think of anything this machine should do that it doesn't. When using the frothing milk attachment you are going to have to clean it, but you really can't make great coffee without making a little mess. Does everything it should, does it well, been doing it for a long time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Espresso Schmesso!
Recently bought this product after my old machine, a combo like this one, finally gave out after 13 years. Right off the bat the espresso side isn't working. Water goes through okay by itself, but when there's coffee in the filter I only get about 2 cups of product when I poured in 4 cups of water! I'll be calling soon to either get this fixed or to send it back.

1-0 out of 5 stars What a mistake to purchase this product
I have had Krups products before so when I wanted to own a dual machine I looked up different reviews and picked this one. Wish someone had told me what a problem that would be. First the espresso machine broke after 1.5 months of use!!! I called to get it fixed and even though I sent in the registration card, they have no way of confirming my purchase so officially it isn't under warranty. In addition, even though I live in a major metropolitan area (DC) the closest service center is 1.5 hours away. I am suppose to drive 3 hours to fix a machine that broke so soon? Not helpful and wish I didn't have a broken machine. Waste of money.

5-0 out of 5 stars great machine!!!
Ok, I have the older version that doesn't have the timer. It was a wedding gift over 7 years ago. We used this machine (both coffee and espresso sides) daily sometimes several times a day and it wasn't until recently that we had problems.

We made the mistake of not cleaning with vinegar on a regular basis and ended up clogging the espresso side because of our hard water. The coffee side still works, but I miss my morning mocha latte. :( Technically, I did fix the espresso side by using Lime Away, but can't get that smelll and taste out of the coffee for it to be safe to consume. So, my advice is to clean with 1/2 vinegar 1/2 water on a regular basis and stay away from Lime Away.

So, I'm back in the market for an espresso machine and we will purchase a new Krups dual machine as soon as we get a water softener. In the meantime I'm purchasing a cheap espresso machine, as the "coffee shop" trips are becoming too frequent and cost too much.

As for people complaining about the sturdiness of htis machine - I don't know what they are talking about. I have NEVER had a problem with the plastic breaking or anything like that. Also, I've never experienced leaks in 7 years. Of course, I loved my machine and took care of it too - with the exception of removing hard water build up.

Oh yeah, the coffee tastes awesome. I'm not a lover of strong coffee, but we have always purchased beans and ground them ourselves. So, our coffee is fresh and tastes wonderful. I highly recommend this machine for the coffee lover. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good value and does the job
We have been very happy with this product. It has really ruduced bing time and effort. Battery life seems fine. It's powerful enough, but more power is always better. We haven't really found use for all of the extra adapters/fitting and primarily use just the scrubber for our bathrooms. It was an average value for the price $40, but it's not like there are 100 out there to choose from. I'd recommend the product, particularly if you're tired of scrubbing and would rather just hold the product while it does the scrubbine (weak arms may still get tired because you have to press).

5-0 out of 5 stars The Bomb
I have been thinking about getting one of these for ages. I don't know why I ever waited.

I have an off white shower & no water softener so I have mineral build up. With a busy family the last thing thought about is the bathroom. It takes hours to try to scrub the stuff off. This makes short work off it.

Sure the battery doesn't last that long, about 1/2 hour, but that's ok. Do 1/2 then recharge & do the other 1/2. After the hard stuff is gone then 1 battery will do fine. Well I have extra batteries because I have a Black & Decker Dremel tool which is the bomb too. It is hard to get into the corners but you can't have everything I guess.

I recomend this to anyone who wants to spend less time cleaning the bathroom. It's great. Get the one with the extra attachments. I think it is going to be great come Spring on the patio furniture, etc.

If you have an electric toothbrush then you have an idea of the difference between this & scrubbing by hand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Adequate Power For The Purpose
I bought this to help me out when I was re-caulking and deep cleaning the shower/bath in our apartment and it really helped me out. I usually just take a brillo bad to the hard-to-clean areas, but all I had to do is hold this down on the area to get it clean. The only thing I would change about it is battery life. 6 hours to charge it enough for 30 minutes isn't very convenient if you have a lot of work to do. I know that it needs to be battery for electric shock reasons, but some sort of power attachment for areas you won't be submerging the scrubber in would be better.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for some things, not a lot of muscle
I bought this expressly for cleaning the shower. I'm a big strong guy, but lazy, and the repetive scrubbing and awkward angles of cleaning a shower make that the only cleaning task I truly despise.

I just now tried cleaning my shower with this thing, and it helped with a few things, but didn't really cut down on cleaning time like I had hoped. First of all, the Wide Area Brush attachment is useless for this task. The different models come with fewer or more attachments, so make sure yours comes with the blue Coarse Scrub Pad.

For the rim of the tub it was a lot faster to scrub it by hand with a regular brush. The bottom and the walls worked ok with the machine, and the fixtures were a lot easier than using my own muscle, primarily because the angles and protrusions make it hard to scrub by hand.

The long handle extension is useful in some circumstances, but wasn't long enought to let me stand while scrubbing.

In all, if you're strong but lazy (like me), the ScumBuster may not be the dream solution you are looking for. It doesn't really save time over manual labor, and isn't fast/powerful enough to get tough mold, etc., better than hand scrubbing.

OTOH, it's great for hard-to-get-to areas around the faucet, and might be a boon for a weaker person who can't scrub hard enough to get rid of tougher stains. It'll just take a really long time.

Although I've used it only on the shower so far, I imagine it will be very helpful on carpet, where it seems that no matter how hard you can scrub, it still takes lots of repetition to get a stain out.

If you're looking for a (probably) good carpet cleaner and an easy way to scrub around faucets, the toilet, and other obstacles to scrubbing, this is what you need. If what you're looking for is an easy way to get rid of tough shower stains, you'll probably be disappointed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
This product is truly worth the money. I particularly like to use it on the carpet because it gets spots out quick and easy. The variety of attachments make it a no-brainer for the shower and the bath. I'm going around my house looking for things to scrub because it is fun to use. ... Read more

Bounty Hunter's Tracker IV detector offers the excitement and profit of metal detecting at an accessible price, making it ideal for those just getting started. With a fully submersible, 8-inch Bounty D-Tech search coil, the Tracker IV features three different operating modes to help you hit pay dirt. Motion all-metals mode responds to any metals you sweep over, full discrimination mode rejects iron and other trash items, and tone discrimination alerts you with one or two audio pitches for different types of metals. The Tracker IV does not have the LCD that many of Bounty Hunter's other models boast, featuring instead a large Sensitivity Meter. Ground Trac, a feature that automatically balances the machine to the soil conditions, makes the Tracker IV a tremendous value. 5-0 out of 5 stars Bounty Hunter Tracker IV - No Experience Necessary
I figured that any metal detector would find the '32 Chevy buried in my backyard, but I wanted to find coins, rings, and Civil War relics in my 5 acre woods. It took 5 minutes to assemble the Tracker IV and about 15 minutes to review the instruction manual. Round up a few coins, a gold ring, and some nails and run through the demonstration on page 5 of the manual. It will give you an idea of how different objects respond to the 3 detection modes.

I borrowed my wife's headphones (highly recommended) and headed for the woods. Within minutes I found beer cans, shotgun shells, nails. The detector will pinpoint an object close enough that you can dig it up with a few scoops of a garden trowel. On my second attempt I found a man's silver ring.

Tracker IV appears to be well constructed and a good value. I don't have any experience with other detectors, but I can't imagine that any are easier to use than this one. Tracker IV is a great choice for your kids to use, if they can get it away from you!

4-0 out of 5 stars Impressed........nice features
I bought one used for [$$$] on .... I started scanning my Girlfriend's yard (house built in 1940's) and immediately picked up all sorts of signals. After a day I became used to the different tones and began discriminating what to and not to dig. That day I found 3 spoons, one of them is silver, and 5 wheat pennies. The next day I searched a sledding hill and found about [$$$] in change. I think its a great deal for the money.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's good, but.......
I collect rare bottle caps, and try to take care not to lose any of my collection. I was coming back from a convention recently and one of my collection boxes hopped out of the back of the pickup as I was crossing an old hump-back bridge, and fell into a small stream.

So I bought the metal detector to try to get my valuable collection back. This one said it is waterproof so I figured it might do the job.

Well, after three weeks of wading up and down the stream I have had mixed fortunes. A Celtic chalice, the silver cumtach (cover) from a medieval bible, two viking swords, a couple of daggers, a mound of celtic, roman and viking coins, an array of viking hacksilver, medieval broches and buckes from shoes and belts, delicately filigreed celtic gold jewellry and most notable of all (since the Romans never made it to Ireland) the metal fittings from eight complete and six incomplete sets of roman imperial legionnary armour.

OK, so I am famous now amongst scholars of the Romano-Celtic world. I have been awarded three honorary doctorate degrees for my finds, and I have been given freedom of the cities of Dublin and York, and I had to decline a Royal knighthood offered by the English Queen (I do have principles and I am an Irish Republican). But what is all this fame? I have lost a box of 200 bottle caps and not found a single one with the detector.

In that collection was a rare 1950's Kirin blue, a 1945 victory V double diamond crown cap and most valuable of all a Grolsch porcelain stopper from the first ever commercial batch. What does it profit a man to gain the world if he loseth his bottle cap collection?

If you buy the metal detector I hope you have more luck than me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Thrilled in Michigan
I bought this product for my 13 year old son's birthday, and he was thrilled. I was thrilled because it was easy to put together, works great over many different terrains, and is so easy to use, the whole family has enjoyed it! It is the perfect Tracker for us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Easy to Use
The Bounty Hunter was exactly what I was looking for. My 11 year old son and I wanted to expore metal detecting together. I didn't want to invest a large amount of money in something that was too high tech or that he would lose interest in. I didn't want to spend too little and get a cheap product. This item was priced right and so far has proven to be a quality item. It was easy to assemble (maybe 5 minutes), takes 2 standard 9 volt batteries and is lightweight enough for my 11 year old to handle with ease. The shaft adjusts in height so when I finally get my turn, I can adjust it to fit me.

We are having a ball so far with it. We haven't found any high dollar finds yet, but the neighborhood kids have gone with us the last few days and made it a fun treasure hunt. In our search of a couple vacant lots, we have found 17 cents, lots of nails, an old bottle cap, a saw blade and other misc items. We plan on taking this into the mountains soon, as it is waterproof so you can look for gold in the rivers. We can't wait! ... Read more

From the Manufacturer
All-Clad Stainless Construction
Each piece of All-Clad cookware features a unique metal bonding construction. All-Clad Stainless cookware sandwiches a thick core of three separate layers of aluminum between an easy-to-clean, highly polished 18/10 stainless-steel cooking surface and a magnetic stainless-steel exterior. The aluminum core retains heat and evenly distributes it along the bottom and up the sidewalls of the cookware. The stainless interior is stick-resistant and cleans easily. The magnetic stainless-steel exterior gives the cookware a gleaming finish. All-Clad Stainless also features the company’s signature "stay-cool" long handles, lids fashioned from gleaming 18/10 stainless steel, and highly durable stainless-steel rivets. All-Clad Stainless cookware is one of five collections from All-Clad Metalcrafters. Designed to work on conventional gas and electric ranges, as well as induction cooktops, All-Clad Stainless cookware is the best-selling collection in a full line that includes All-Clad LTD, Cop-R-Chef, Master Chef 2, and Copper Core.

Features and Benefits
All-Clad pans with a stainless interior cooking surface are oven-safe up to 500 degrees. All-Clad pans with a non-stick cooking surface are oven-safe up to 400 degrees, but should not be used under the broiler. We recommend using a low to medium temperature when cooking with All-Clad. Higher heats are not necessary and may cause discoloration (see cleaning instructions below). Other features include:

  • Beautifully polished, magnetic stainless exterior layer.
  • Pure aluminum core that not only covers the bottom of the pan but also extends up the sides. This allows for great heat conductivity as well as an even heat distribution so you won’t have "hot spots" when cooking.
  • Stainless-steel interior layer/cooking surface.
  • Long, polished stainless, stay-cool handles.
  • Sturdy, non-corrosive stainless-steel rivets won't react with foods.
  • Polished stainless-steel lids fit evenly with the pan’s edges to seal in flavor of your foods.
  • The All-Clad Stainless collection is compatible with an induction stovetop (with the exception of a few pieces) in addition to gas and electric stovetops.
  • The Stainless collection is dishwasher-safe, excluding pieces with a nonstick cooking surface.

Warranty
From date of purchase, All-Clad guarantees to repair or replace any item found defective in material, construction or workmanship under normal use and following care instructions. This excludes damage from misuse or abuse. Minor imperfections and slight color variations are normal.

Cleaning Instructions
For daily cleaning, warm soapy water is sufficient. Clean your All-Clad thoroughly after each use. Food films left of the pan may cause discoloration and sticking. To get rid of stuck-on food or discoloration and stains from using too high of a heat, we recommend cleaning your All-Clad with a product called Bar Keeper’s Friend. To use the Bar Keeper’s Friend, simply use a soft cloth or sponge and water and make into a soupy paste. This can be used on the interior, as well as the exterior of your All-Clad (excluding the Cop-R-Chef). The Bar Keeper’s Friend can also be used on the exterior of the All-Clad Stainless collection, LTD collection, and MC2 collection. For cleaning of the Cop-R-Chef exterior, simply use a brass/copper cleaner. If your water has a high iron content, you may notice a rusty discoloration. Use Bar Keeper’s Friend to remove it.

All-Clad Stainless Selection
In recent years, a professional-size 14-inch fry pan was added to the Stainless fry pan assortment, as well as several popular specialty pans, including: the small-size petite brasier with a dome-shaped lid; petite roti roasting pan; and the beautiful, large-capacity Dutch oven and French oven oval roasting pan with roasting rack. Both of these one-pot comfort food specialty pans comes with All-Clad’s popular high dome-shaped lid. Other specialty pans include a larger brasier pan with domed-shape lid; a complete family of round-shaped saucier saucepans for versatile stove-top cooking; a flare-sided Windsor pan in two sizes, designed for reduction and the creation of rich sauces; and a contemporary "Soup for Two" 3-1/2-quart soup pot; casseroles; an open stir fry; a versatile wok-style chef’s pan; and a "Pasta Pentola" 7-quart stockpot with colander insert and lid. All saucepans, casseroles, sauté pans, stock pots, and specialty items come with lids. Double boiler and steamer inserts, including the large steamer insert for 6-quart, 8-quart and 12-quart stockpots, are available as well. 3-0 out of 5 stars Nice product, but not like other (U.S. made) All-Clad
Having a number of All Clad products in my kitchen, I was excited to see this stockpot at such a low "close out" price. When it arrived, I was somewhat disappointed to see that it is not the same construction or quality as the other All Clad cookware that I have. When I ordered it, I wondered why this 12 qt pot was priced so much less than other smaller stockpots (and about 1/3 the price of the All Clad pasta cooker), and now I know - this "multi cooker" was not made in the U.S., it was made in China (as is the Emerilware). It seems deceptive (and is disappointing) that this bears the exact same label as the U.S. product and the description gives no indication that it is anything less than the same U.S. made All Clad, which is well known to many of us. However, in fairness, I need to say that priced at under [$$$], this is still one heck of a pot that I will enjoy using, but just be aware that it is a different quality of All Clad cookware.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Stock Pot and Amazing Value!
Ok, this is obviously not the same as the traditional All Clad stock pots, if it was it would be more then triple the price of this one without the 2 inserts. It is part of the disk bottom collection, however it is still top quality stainless steel and very well made. I certainly would not consider it secondary. It is a little lighter in weight than the traditional All Clad but it is not a light weight pot by any means. It is great for pasta, soup, stew, steaming veggies, etc. You will love it and you can't beat the price. It is very easy to clean and the inserts can be stacked and stored inside. A+

Tip: If you should get something stuck to the stainless steel use a product called "Bar Keepers Friend" to clean it. Most supermarkets have it and Kitchen Etc. and Bed, Bath and Beyond carry it too. The container (like a Comet can) is gold with blue and white writing. All Clad recommends it for cleaning stainless steel and it works like a dream and is very inexpensive.

4-0 out of 5 stars Better Than I Thought
I purchased this on a whim through my little gold box (back when it wasn't full of jewelry offers). It was a little larger than I had expected but this has turned out to be great. I make pasta and stock (chicken and beef) in it all the time. Nothing has ever burned on me using an electric or gas stove. I was a bit hesitant based on some of the reviews but honestly found this product very useful. I would not think twice about buying it again. I gave it one less star because the lid is a little unlike the quality of the rest of All-Clad's products but I usually don't cook on the lid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Purchase
It is true that this stockpot is differently constructed if compared to the ususal all clad stockpot. But there is a reason for it. It is made to be used for pasta kind of cooking. It is not usefull to have very thick steel on sides for these type of cooking uses. For other purpose, you want to have as even heat distribution as you can using steel thickness to acheive distribution of heat.

The bottom is ULTRA THICK and it is solid and heavy.

Overall I consider I made a very good purchase.

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW! I love this pot!
I recently purchased the All-Clad 12-quart multi-cooker with two inserts, and I could not wish for a more useful addition to my cookware collection. It is a manageable size and weight (even when full), and the inserts make draining a breeze. No more steam burns for this kitchen klutz! The quality is excellent. It performs as advertised and cleaning is easy. I love this pot! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For the price, this is DA BOMB
We went with the white/"meringue" mixer (would have preferred light green "jadite", but such is not available). Works great! Now granted, as with any piece of machinery--including your car--you must learn the in's and out's. Before purchasing, I printed out all the reviews you see here and the product description, and studied all this information. Then after purchasing, I read the product manual. You owe it to yourself to do the same -- after all, you're plunking down several hundred dollars. The main thing to carry away from the reviews here is to go easy with the high gluten flour.

This is a reliable machine. Do not try to scrimp and go with a lower powered model, such as the 525 watt. I think you will regret it. I also don't recommend getting refurbs or used. Just drop the three sixty-nine (current price), minus the twenty-five dollar discount. It's worth it, if you are cooking for more than one person.

I considered this and the 1000 watt, 7 quart Viking, which was considerably more expensive, and went with this because it's so much cheaper and has rather good reviews. Viking seems to be an over-priced brand in general which tries to appeal to price snobs rather than offering real value. I also did not like the fact that you do not see many Viking products in stores; which leads one to think about what happens if the Viking needs repair or replacement parts; hmmmm... Also, the Viking just does not offer neat attachments such as an ice cream maker.

Yeah, I suggest also purchasing the ice cream maker attachment for another fifty bucks or so. We have had a lot of fun crafting unusual flavors like green tea and ginger.

3-0 out of 5 stars Over rated, but still the best option
I got my kitchenaid 600 mixer from amazon. After it arrived, I prepared a sourdough recipe that called for 8 cups of flour, the mixer bogged down and quit. I have prepared the same recipe 4 more times, each time the mixer quits. I thought this behavior was abnormal, but after a bit of online snooping, it turns out that many people experience similar problems when working with thicker doughs.

Kitchenaid clains it can handle 14 cups of all purpose flour, it simply cannot, in fact, i would set the maximum at about 10 cups for a less dense dough, and at 7 or 8 for thicker breads.

Ultimately, this is the best mixer available to the home baker in this price range, as much sturdier commerial grade models in this size ( 6 quarts) begin at about $1500. However, don't expext to use it to make thick bread or pizza doughs in large quantities, it simply isn't up to the task. It will do most of the work, but some hand kneading is still required.

Despite it's all steel gears and automatic shutoff feature, it seems that the motor and drive mechanisms are underbuilt and prone to failure if overloaded. On the upside, if your mixer happens to malfunction within a year of purchase (mine did after 2 weeks), Kitchenaid has great customer support and will replace the unit.

In short, it is a great mixer, but doesn't live up to the manufacture's promises.

4-0 out of 5 stars Mean Machine
This is a monster. The (semi) professional 600 Kitchen-aid comes with a cover over the bowl. I don't use it, it's flimsy and not handy. But without this cover on the bowl I have to warn you: Don't put your hand in the bowl while the machine is working, it will be torn off!So powerful is this Kitchen-aid.
That was the bad news. Goodies are that this thing will make your live a lot easier. Fast, strong, quick, easy handle etc. And the boeing 747-sound it makes when you put it on full throttle..... Sounds like music to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars It's amazing!!!!!!!
I bought this item because I do alot of baking and I love it! It's very easy to use and very heavy duty. The only thing to remember when you receive this item is that it snaps down in 3 areas the sides and you have to push it down in the back too. It was worth every cent. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

By combining 31,000 brush strokes per minute and gentle sonic waves, Sonicare electric toothbrushes scrub away decay-causing plaque from between teeth and along gum lines better than ordinary toothbrushes. Two full-refund guarantees are offered on this model (30-day satisfaction guarantee and 90-day improved-care guarantee), plus a 2-year warranty on the handle against defects.

This is Sonicare's top-of-the-line model, offering all available features: an interval timer that beeps every 30 seconds to encourage thorough cleaning of each mouth section; an automatic shutoff after 2 minutes to indicate when cleaning time attains the recommended duration (the brush can be restarted); a ramp-up that gently increases brushing power during the first 12 uses to reduce soreness for people unaccustomed to thorough cleaning (this feature can be turned off); and a recharge indicator light that signals when charging is needed and when it's in progress. This model serves three family members with their own brush heads; it comes with two compact heads and one ultra-compact head with a longer shaft and fewer bristles for better maneuverability (great for kids). A countertop holder for brush heads not in use and a three-slot brush-head travel case are included. The power handle holds a charge for about two weeks. --Fred Brack ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Some advise
The vibration will drive you crazy at first, especially on the roof of your mouth, but just fight through it. In less than one week it will feel completely natural. A light touch helps, and also gives more effective cleaning.

Although you can switch brush heads so more than one person can use the base, it gets tiring to do this multiple times a day, in different bathrooms, etc. The benefits are so good we bought one for each member of the family. Look at it this way, it's cheaper than a new filling...

I reserved one star because the batteries are not replaceable. Here's how to make them last: The worst thing you can do to Nickle-Cadnium (rechargeable) batteries is overcharge them. So don't leave the base plugged in all the time. Just charge it overnight once a week.

The replacement brush heads cost more than a regular toothbrush, but seem to last long enough.

As opposed to manual brushing, with the sonicare I actually find myself brushing for the full recommended two minutes.

The sonicare was recommended to my by my dentist after I started developing some deep pockets in my gums. After about 2 months use, the pockets were significantly reduced.

4-0 out of 5 stars Really Great Toothbrush
This toothbrush is invaluable to me. I use it to help keep my gum disease under control. I need to brush with an antibacterial solution and to have it reach under the gumline and the Sonicare toothbrush achieves this for me.

I read in a leading consumer magazine that the toothbrush didn't perform better than manual brushing when manual brushing was done properly. The magazine article said that the reason the Sonicare would perform better was because people would brush their teeth longer and for the proper amount of time because there was a timer on it.

Even though I read that article, I still believe that I get better results from my Sonicare. In fact, mine broke down on me about a week ago, and I've signed online to buy another one. Even brushing manually for just these few days, I have not been as satisfied as I am with my Sonicare, and am anxious for my replacement one to arrive.

The only disappointment I have with this toothbrush is that this is the third one I'm buying within about a 4 year period. For some reason, they don't seem to last many years. I try to take care of it. I unscrew the brush head and rinse out the toothpaste.

However, since the toothbrush is so valuable to me, I've been willing to incur this expense in order to keep owning one. It would be nice if they could design it to last a little longer. Then I'd give it 5 stars.

By the way, the reason I'm willing to keep spending so much in order to own this toothbrush is that I believe that it is going to save me lots of money in dental bills later on.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonicare is riding the wave of the future
The biggest complaint I hear from people about electric tootbrushes is that the replacement heads are too expensive. Come now, that was the type of thinking that would have killed the Industrial Revolution!

For anyone who really cares about dental hygeine or even just the way they look to other people, you can't not use an electric toothbrush anymore. I laughed at the idea at first, but once I began using one I will never be able to use a regular toothbrush again without feeling like my mouth isn't clean. When you go to the dentist--what type of toothbrush does he/she use on you? Electric--for a reason, because it cleans better.

The marginally higher cost of replacing the heads rather than buying an entirely new disposable toothbrush is insignificant when you actually feel as clean as you can when you use an electric brush. Personal dental care has evolved to the next step, and you don't want to be caught be the last person using a slide ruler because you were too frugal to purchase the more expensive but more effective calculator.

Your teeth (and anyone who comes in contact with them) will thank you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon was irresponsible and I never received my sonicare
I waited two weeks to receive my Sonicare ordered through Amazon and I never received it. I'm sure it's a wonderful product but now I will never know (actually I'll order it through drugstore.com so I will know soon enough). Amazon was incredibly unhelpful and I had to chase a package around until finally it got cancelled. Amazon prides itself on its personal recommendations but I'm terribly disappointed with their level of service and advise others not to use them.

Amazon.com Review

Uniquely designed with similarities to an espresso machine, this coffee maker features a 1450-watt boiler that brews a 4-ounce cup of coffee in just thirty seconds, or two 4-ounce cups or one 8-ounce mug in 60 seconds. Because the machine uses pre-measured coffee pods, the system is hassle-free, easy to clean, and guarantees a flavorful, fresh brew each time.

Measuring 13-1/2 by 12 by 8-1/2 inches, the coffee maker is shaped like a curved cylinder with a round base. Two pod holders are included: a shallow holder that holds one coffee pod for one cup, and a deeper filter that holds two pods for two cups (or one 8-ounce mug). After filling the removable reservoir with fresh water to the ‘max’ line, the pods are inserted and the lid locked into place. A simple push of the on/off button and either of the one or two cup buttons starts the brewing process. Up to five 4-ounce cups can be brewed on one reservoir of water. Cups are not included, but almost any 4-ounce cup or 8-ounce mug will do the trick. All the removable parts--the pod holders, reservoir, coffee spout, plastic drip tray, and metal cup tray--are dishwasher-safe. A variety of coffee pods are available separately. This coffee machine is unusable at altitudes over 6800 feet. The Senseo coffee maker is covered by a two-year warranty against defects and measures 13-1/2 by 12 by 8-1/2 inches. --Ann Bieri ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Very good at what it does...
The senseo is a rather unique concept in coffee machines. As a coffee lover, I

figured I'd give it a try.

Out of the box, it was easy to set up. Within 10 minutes I was making my first

cup. I was pleased with the creamy head of foam that the machine produces atop the cup, reminiscent of an espresso drink. It was refreshing to get that fresh-brewed coffee smell so quickly with so little effort. The taste? While not the finest cup of coffee I've had, it was more than satisfying. It's hard to get good coffee around these parts on my way to work at 6:30am.

I tried all 3 roasts (I'm not a decaf fan) and liked the medium roast the best. I was a little disappointed that the pods only come in "Mild", "medium" and "dark"... but I'm sure someone will come out with more variteies eventually.

The good:

-Quick Brewing, I can have a cup ready in about a minute.
-Pod system is convenient when brewing just 1 or 2 cups
-Simple cleanup (reservior under where the cup is)
-Easy, and intuitive design and use
-Coffee is tasty
-Never a burnt cup of coffee

The Bad:

-Coffee sometimes comes out less-than-piping-hot
-Only one brand of Pods available (as far as I know)
-Each pod only brews 6oz of coffee
-A little louder than I expected... and has an air-compressor type noise instead of a coffee maker type noise.

Overall, a very good product.

5-0 out of 5 stars ...don't open it before you take it to the office.
My husband and I are hooked.

I bought this little thing at Sam's (it's packaged with the extra large water reservoir there) to take to work so that I didn't have to drink office swill anymore. I was thinking that I could have my dark roast, my officemates could have their light roast, the caffeine-sensitive could have their decaf, and we'd all be happy.
I made a mistake: I hooked it up at home and let my husband try it. It will likely never leave our kitchen countertop.

Some random info:

--Two cups is a full mug of coffee. Not five, as a recent review states.
--We have a set of glass "cappuccino mugs" (from Bormioli, I believe) that are perfectly sized and beautifully present a single cup. Highly recommended.
--The extra large reservoir is very nice to have.
--We're very happy with the Dutch coffee. However, look for www.cafepods.com to offer 62mm Senseo-sized pods for the U.S. market (ie without outrageous European shipping costs) in the near future.

So many have written on the virtues of this little machine that I don't have much to add other than a very enthusiastic "me, too!"

Prepare to be impressed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Has revolutionized my life!!!
Okay...after years of making Starbucks rich and suffering with drip coffee by adding a ton of sugar and creamer, this coffe maker has FREED ME FROM BAD AMERICAN COFFEE! It is SO easy to use, a tad noisy but QUICK...and FYI you can use the one pod, choose the two coffee cup option, and have a full sized coffee cup with froth to die for! THE GREATEST ADDITION TO MY KITCHEN, THANKS!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Best single serve machine I've found
I tried the other single serve machines on the market and the Senseo wins hands down. The Melitta wasn't bad except it brews at least an ounce less than it says. I couldn't figure out why it seemed as though I wasn't getting very much coffee. I read other reviews on the Melitta and found other people who realized it doesn't deliver what it says either. The water tank is small. Also, I do not care for the Melitta coffee pods at all.<br /> <br /> The Home Cafe machine, as others have pointed out, is not sturdily built at all. I was not impressed with the quality or the flavor of the coffee when brewed in it.<br /> <br /> The Senseo machine is available with a 40 ounce water tank which is very practical. It is a sturdy machine and easy to open and close. I love the coffee (wish there were more flavors but figure they will come in time) and the froth generated because of at least some pressure, brews the pods just right. I'm glad I continued my search and tried the Senseo. Everyone in our house loves it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Senseo is the only choice in "Pod" brewers!
I purchased the Senseo Coffee Maker about 3 months ago and am very happy with the quality of the machine and most of all the quality taste of the coffee. It is awesome!!<br /> <br /> I carefully selected the Senseo over the others (B&D and Melitta) because of the way it was put together. The others appeared to be cheaply put together (especially the Black and Decker) and I did not think they would last too long. In fact the Black and Decker on the shelf was broken. When I mentioned this to a sales associate who was nearby, she told me that the one on the shelf was the third one that had been on display in the past month because they kept breaking. I almost went with the Melitta because I am familiar with their coffee (great coffee) but was interested in the "european style" of Douwe Egberts coffee. I was not disappointed!! Great taste!<br /> <br /> The only draw back (so I thought at first) was the 4oz cup of coffee. I quickly found that this was not as big a deal as I thought because of the rich flavor of the coffee.<br /> <br /> And talk about convenience......great coffee when you want it and fast (about a minute and a half from the time you turn it on to the time you take your first sip). Have I mentioned it takes just about as long to clean as it does to brew a cup?<br /> <br /> Do what I did and compare the machines on the shelf at your local Target and you will quickly notice the difference in construction.....SENSEO is far superior in all aspects. ...
